It's such a surprise to see a video about the Beiyang Fleet on youtube! I thought they are much lesser known outside China. Thanks for the nice content! Also two minor corrections: 1. It was the later part of the Qing Dynasty instead of the Ming Dynasty 2. The Beiyang Fleet actually picked up ships from Newcastle twice: the first time in 1881 was actually for the Chaoyong超勇 and the Yangwei扬威 (sister ships which were somewhat weakly armoured light cruisers), the second time in 1887 was for the Zhiyuan致远 and the Jingyuan靖远 (also sister ships, these two were the protected cruisers)

Brings back memories, nice to see they are still kept open however they should actually invest more money in preserving these original tunnels and interior. Actually making the outside look more presentable would be nice, along with escalators that actually can still work.

Newcastle is such a special place, no place like it.. but the feeling is changing now. Can not put my finger on what it is, just feels like its heartbeat it starting to beat less and less and its got nothing to do with the Football. The city of Newcastle.. still better off than the other majority of places in U.K. though which are now becoming empty buildings, ruins that are to let and high streets of charity shops.

Is that the proverbial 'we' or can you actually get a team together? Toon army V the borders rugby fans? You have to be from the area to play, and Scotland being the current holders would host the match. I'm sure there would be plenty of borders Scots turn up on the day for a chance to defend a piece of Scotland from England once more. They probably wouldn't be sober, but they'd definitely turn up. Can the same be said for the Geordie contingent though? Would you seriously get even a bus load to come out to a cold wet field, only to get rightly beaten up for daring to invade us again? Tell you what. You float the idea down the pub, maybe pin up a signup sheet on the notice board, while I inform the Scottish rugby federation and try to work out a deal for the TV rights.

I know Puerto Rico well. It’s lovely, been there many times. The only thing I don’t like about the place is that is just Norwegians there. Being from Norway myself, I think it’s better to travelling to places where I don’t meet my neighbours 😂 It’s a holiday after all. Think I prefer Tenerife. It's a shame the old chain bridge was destroyed as it was state of the art when built. It would be listed and saved nowadays. I remember going over it in Dad's car in the 50's to see relatives in Winlaton. If I remember correctly the bridge deck was wooden and it certainly used to clatter when you drove over it. It's ironic that the old railway bridge is still there, trains long gone but kept because it carries gas and water mains across the river. Happy memories in happier times. Thanks for posting.
