We are looking to do a plaster hood. But the contractor is worried about an access panel? What are our options? In your photo of the insert with custom surround it looks like there isn’t a panel opening, I need info on this!

At a bare minimum the output of a tub filler should be 7-8 Gallons per minute (identified the the specs as GPM). The problem is California, and their water drought issues serves to drive the US market. As a result US brand name products like Delta, Moen, Price Phister, American Standard etc, make all their plumbing products to comply with Californias water conservation codes. Manufacturers are also making it much harder, if not impossible to remove any flow restrictors that may be installed. As a result finding a high flow tub fillers often requires you to go with an off brand import (non- US made product) as they do not have to comply with US regulations and you can find some fillers that supply as much as 17 gallons per minute... "providing"... your home or bathroom has the necessary plumbing and water pressure. FACT: If you have a fancy soaker tub, some of the US made tub fillers can take 45 minutes or more to fill it. Choose wisely.

Funny ha ha, a month ago I would have thought most doorknob measurements were universal. Well, now I know a bit more before selecting several new doorknobs. Now, if anyone knows where I can find a replacement 2 and 3/8 inch springlatch (preferably chrome finish) for an old (but excellent!!!) Schlage Claremont interior doorknob, I need one.

Love this faucet! I've been using it for a day now after installing it myself (no professional experience, casual DIYer. Took about 2 hours in total, from removing the old faucet to fully up and running with the Moen 7594EC). Installation was very easy and straight forward for even a novice, as long as your follow the [very easy to read] step-by-step instructions. Came with everything needed, including batteries for the power supply (AC power supply sold separately). I only have experience with a much cheaper bathroom touchless faucet and I must say the Moen 7594EC kitchen faucet is far, far superior! I guess you get what you pay for. It's a quality unit and the motion detector is far superior to my other one. Momentary activation comes on easily without having to "play around" with the sensor to find were it'll activate, and it stays on long enough momentarily to keep a constant stream when you need it, and shuts off promptly afterwards. In comparison, my bathroom (non Moen) faucet is just a headache to use sometimes. The motion detection is very off and on (no pun intended), not really staying on long enough to be useful. To get it to stay on longer (a feature), is very cumbersome. On the Moen 7594EC, there's also a second sensor on top of the unit that turns on a steady stream for when you need it. It does turn off automatically again though, after a very extended period of time (safety feature in case of inadvertent activation). Really looking forward to using this unit for some time to come. The added benefits of hands free are numerous, suffice to say at the very least, you won't get handles contaminated with bacteria after handling raw food, for example!
