When people say "gender is a social construct", they're really just confusing "gender" itself with gender roles and norms. But even ignoring that, the definition is unworkable with the rest of transgenderism. After all, if someone has the socially constructed traits expected of men by their society but identifies as a woman, what is their gender then? And while we can't know with certainty what someone's real sex is just by looking at them (especially nowadays), that doesn't imply we're in the wrong.
