    Brian, truly a disappointing video. 1. for someone who knows supersingles as well as you do, I’m surprised you fail to mention that there is significant loss in GVWR with the supersingles. When I was looking at converting a 170 3500 high roof from dualie to supersingles a while back, I learned from Mercedes that the rated GVWR would have reduced by approx 1000lbs-from 11xxx to 10xxx lbs. You talk about people running these rigs at 12000lbs, which would then be about 2000 lbs over GVWR. 2. When airing down, it is not the increase in width, rather increase in length of tire footprint that makes a difference. You (should) know better. 3 Can you point to any studies that document how big brake kits improve braking effectiveness in these big rigs? Their effectiveness is proven in racing applications, but I have yet to see anything concrete wrt use in everyday driving conditions that these vans find themselves in. Thoughts?

    would you mind listing out the suspension upgrades? With the larger tires did you have to trim the wheel wells? Also, with the rear remote shock mount are you able to install the S&B 47 gallon fuel tank?

    Looks great mate. I am have been thinking about the super single for my 3500 with a 295 as well. Sounds silly but I was hoping to pick up 1 or 2mpg but mostly so I can air down. Did you have to do anything for the factory electronics? Also does your king suspension lift the van at all? Also did you notice any pros or cons with your towing? I tow a gt3rs on a futura trailer behind my 3500 and while I want to make the van a bit more capable off road I don't want to ruin my towing experience

    With the 295s you suggested how far out of the front wheel well will the tires sit. I have terrawagon fender flares but get a feeling it may not be far enough. The xbull ones look great but 3k is steep. Also will I need to get the AO sliding door popout thingy to clear the rear tire with the sliding door?

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před měsícem

      They dont poke that much. The terrawagon flares are a great add-on. Sliding door isn't really an issue, and not always needed. On electric sliding doors, you can preset the opening length in case there is a potential contact. Terrawagen makes a sliding door kit as well.

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před měsícem

      Pretty much. The Kings are direct replacements. The front will lift about 0.5", and allow you to adjust height up to an additional 1.5". We rarely touch the default coil position though. The Kings paired with Deaver leaf springs will lift the van about 2 inches. Our Deaver leaf springs don't use any blocks or pre-loading wedges to compensate for height. You're getting the full progressive suspension lift from Deaver vs. the others.

    What setup do you think will work for 90% of weekend warriors? Just something that improves on stock and doesnt require the kind of maintenance kings do.

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před 2 měsíci

      The King's don't really require the maintenance everyone thinks they do when comparing them with pre-runner trucks and rock crawlers. They are performance shocks, but they're not getting abused to the same level. The Kings are estimated to have 30k-40k mile maintenance checks. These aren't throw away shocks like the others. They're easily worked on by anyone with the tools, or any local offroad shop. The question is, what do you want out of your suspension. If you want the best handling and control on and offroad, you want the Kings. If you want a budget suspension system with just better than stock expectations, then you can get the other brands.

    It's cool to have options, but i think its a pretty big miss on the engineering to place form over function. Should have designed all the wheels to be the same, now buyers are forced to rotate + mount balance at tire shops (needless $$$). I did enquire with Reika and you cannot purchase 5 "spares" which sucks!

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před 2 měsíci

      There was no way to accomplish what you're asking for. It can be done with steelies, which is what we did before. Alloy wheels are a different ballgame. A universal spare is the coolest part about this super single setup.

    • @mikehendrickson1115
      @mikehendrickson1115 Před 2 měsíci

      As an owner of 2 duallies, Sprinter and F-450, there is no way to achieve what you are mentioning. Duallie owners know that theoretically you can rotate all 6, but you will always have dinged up, dingy wheels. Inside surfaces get hammered with sand/gravel, paint gets hammered, polish gets wrecked, etc. If you want nice looking wheels, they stay dedicated to front or rear, and insides stay inside, and outsides stay outside.

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před 2 měsíci

      Not really. Ask any dually owner if they ever rotated their 6 tires. Nope, it's too complicated. Super single owners aren't buying wheels to rotate.

    • @charlesnothing8369
      @charlesnothing8369 Před měsícem

      I second this , you don't rotate dually tires in the traditional sense . I have two spares so total of 8 wheels , I rotate the rear wheels swapping the inners with outers and I switch my fronts out with the new spares . Replace as needed

    • @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
      @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 Před měsícem

      @@charlesnothing8369 Yes, but I think this shows a lack of experience running Super singles. When you switch from dually's on the rear to singles on the rear, you'll find that the rear tires will wear twice as fast as the fronts because the rear of the van still weighs nearly twice as much as the front, and most of the drive happens through the rear wheels so they spin the most and they skid the most, yet now they have the same contact patch as the fronts. Also making the fronts larger and wider on IFS can increase uneven wear, which can only be fixed by rotating.

    Soooo dope!! Would be amazing if we could get 3.0's for the 2500 as well (in the works perhaps? 🤔) ps. does the fact that the shocks are inboard of the chassis reduce their effective damping ability, vs let's say a 2.5" or 2.0" shock that is mounted more outwards on the axle, closer to the wheel?

We can rebuild the leaf springs as your van build grows, saving you from having to purchase a new leaf pack... and not merely throwing blocks in to fix a sag problem.

    Please discuss how you cover these big tires. You failed to talk about the fender flares. Possibly a key to selling this wheel tire combination to some customers. Also, how much lift is needed. And again about the fenders. Show all the fender and bumper cover cutting required for the flares to be installed. Also, the epoxy used to seal the cut metal.

    • @morevanever1311
      @morevanever1311 Před 4 měsíci

      Wide fender flares look great, but they're not necessary. You can choose from Terrawagen or Xbull. In the front, you'll definitely want to get the Terrawagen Mondo Mud Guards for either a Sprinter 906 or 907. There is also some trimming and forming of the wheel liner at the front of the wheel towards the bumper. The rear doesn't need any trimming with the 295/70/17's. 34's and 35's will need rear trimming and ideally cutting the rear mud flaps. I would hope that anybody taking it upon themselves to do trimming will also take the right measures to paint/seal the cut metal.

    Adrenaline vans in Montrose Colorado will reprogram your module for any sized tire diameter. Agile Offroad, owl vans and many other van shops will do this for you. Depending on the method they are using you might send a module in for programming, purchase a multifunctional accessory module or go to the shop for module reprogramming. All methods are changeable to any diameter changes you desire in the future. And all the Mercedes baby sitters will work or you can have then programed to default off and selectable on or simply permanently off. Can have 360 camera function on while driving as well if desired. Anything you want is available today. We'll except for aftermarket front differential ratios to correct for the torque lost and exponential escalation of rotational inertia resulting from taller heavier tires.

      Programming to 35 inches and beyond is available. Call Adrenaline Vans they do tire diameter reprogramming, and much more programming options are available through them.

    what about squeeking noises on the progressive leaf springs,how do you deal with it,it can be very annoying

      None of the deaver springs we've installed squeek. Maybe leaf springs start doing that when they're over loaded, or if the pads start slipping out.

    Keep in mind that standard Sprinter brakes are designed by Mercedes-Benz to stop a 3.5t Sprinter towing a 3.5t trailer i.e. 7.0t all up, with the 5.5t dually going to 8.25t all up. If you think your Sprinter brakes are lacking they might just need restoring to standard. A low/short Sprinter like the one in the clip has plenty of brake from the factory.

      2 pistons in the front is hardly enough. Ask the drivers with full builds. The vans definitely need more stopping power. Saying MB designed the brakes well is like saying the EPA mileage on the window sticker is accurate. haha
