Had the 4000 for 3years had 100s of tench and carp using it no problems at all still going strong

Looking to replace my 4000 now and i cant say enough how good of a bargain this reel was years ago, had fish up to 27lb on it and always served me well

I own 7 of the commercial rods- feeder and waggler versions and they are by far the best rods i have ever handled for the money, just ridiculously good. The sks reels however are just awful, its shame. How anyone can lump the rods in with the reels and say they all work fine/well without making any distinction is just beyond me. The rods are beautiful, the reels are clunky and lack the smoothness you would expect.

Hi there well just wanted thank you as when I watched your first video about these reels i then went out and bought a couple 4000 and 5000 and I must say personally they have been absolutely brilliant for the money. I also own a couple of cadence cs10 reels which are very good but for £120 I'm starting to wonder is it really worth paying around 3 or 4 times more for them well I think because I don't go crazy amounts of time,the answer is no. In fact I like the reels that's much I feel like selling my cadence reels and buy more of these ones! Great videos

I have two of these and there's one major fault.................the line clips are razor sharp on the edge and slice through your line without any effort.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pair of videos on these reels - great to show that you can still get good gear which will copw adequately without paying high prices 👍

Brought the bigger ones for barbel fishing. Have to say I’m a bit disappointed because the bail arm springs went very weak very quickly. Also lots of problems with line going under the spool and round the spindle which has driven me absolutely mad at times. Can’t fault the barbel rods though with fish to an ounce under 18 lbs

Totally agree with you. I've got a mix of 3000,4000 and 5000 reels plus 9 and 10 foot feeder rods,11 foot pellet waggler along with a 3 metre landing net handle and nets. In a word faultless. Initial purchase was based on your review. Have looked at the Impax reels and they do look similar ,cost more and only one spool. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction. f0r me id have worn it under a fleece , next to t shirt for two reasons , one its nearer the body ,two your fleece over it would hold the heat in better

I have their first generation 10 foot commercial feeder, got on eBay from a big clearance outlet for £27, it's a stunningly good rod punches way above it's price bracket I can't see myself upgrading because in my opinion all the big brands just change the cosmetics, I reckon technology changes about every 10 years anything else is marketing and cosmetics. I haven't tried the reels. Nice review pal.

I really liked this take on the publication, Ive bought the mag on and off since the days when David hall himself was the editor, I don't know if it's nostalgia but it seemed better then but angling has become just another corporate industry with many of the once independent one man built companies sold to big corporate interests. I think sponsored anglers in one way they're lucky but it's not all one way, your a salesman and I'd hate to be a salesman because your owned, your honesty is compromised, bought shall we say. It can't be much fun being a walking endorsement for Peter drennan et al. Let's be honest the marketing has just moved to you tube it's the same old faces pushing product, There's some great content out there but it lacks character, I like the guy that turns up with 10+ year old tackle and cleans up.

How do you get the inserts out of the feeder arm? I've bought one but can't get the insert out

Great video, I'm currently on a 15 year old Preston X3 I got off eBay prior to that I experienced the dangerous footrest that you talked about, buy second hand but buy a reputable brand their is an element of you get what you pay for, I had the Avanti 16 meter pole a few years ago and it wasn't usable at that length but it was a decent 13 meter carp pole that was strong as hell. It so easy to get suckered into the marketing hype and like you say it's all about selling product these days usually products you don't always need. I've just got £1500 browning pole off eBay for £255 and it's more or less brand new, you must check a second hand pole though don't just walk away without looking at it.

Been using this method for 13/14 years. Something else you have to take into consideration is the amount of line the 'bubble' has to drag through the water while sinking. In my opinion you need more water/weight the further you cast out.

Bought one gilet like it, a thermo fusion brand one from ideal world and it didn't last me one year. Problem was the wires connecting the power button came off. Bought a new power button from ali express hoping I could fix it to no avail as the wIres were so flimsy so ended up throwing the gilet in the bin. Would never buy one again especially as most of what I see are cheaply made in china. They are great n warm when they working tho.

I recently got a Matrix Aquos 3000. They are heavy, and I couldn't believe how stiff the bail arm is. Excessive spring pressure in the bail arm. I took apart the bail arm mechanism to see if I could fine tune it a bit to make it easier to use. I often shorten the springs on my reels to get a lighter feel. Adjusting the curve in the bail arm can also tune it to operate more smoothly. OMG, the internal components are utter crap. I wasn't expecting that. Cheap spring, Plastic parts and a bit of rough cut bent wire make up the mechanism. Not just poor quality but very, very poor quality. Not surprised that they used a strong spring. It is to overcome the crappyness of the internal parts.

What line rating is the 9ft 10ft GT bomb/ feeder rods please.

The Dacron connecter bends down also before you make contact,the only one that doesn't is the spider! So for me this is cobblers! So then how do we catch on the waggler with yards and yards of line in front of us? There's an old saying (if the driver hasn't got his hands on the steering wheel then............? You could also argue that maybe the stonfo was a bit too quick eh! And of course there's whip fishing with a long length of line? My friend it makes no difference what connecter you use,you are the one with the hands on the steering wheel!

I’ve got the s36 great box … except for the clips on the cassettes … these are absolute crap, so much so I’m swapping for an absolute 36 as they are mag look 👍

well... compared to the reels I started with in the early 70's such as the Intrepid Black Prince, this Lidl reel is a luxury starter reel and for £12.99 it's a no brainer and perfectly adequate for Anglers of all levels. There's always been a degree of tackle snobbery over the years and if money is no object then fine ... go spend silly money on a brand name but these days even cheap reels are very good and not that much different to some of the expensive one's, certainly not £100 different !! but then, that's consumerism for you 😄

Nicde Video, could you tell me where Ican buy what you describe as the teardrop shape bubble float. Cant seem to find anything like it on line other than an a version from Rainbow Plastics in the USA, which icant find anyone in the UK who stocks them

l was instrumental in inventing this method some 45 years ago. Of course the new materials used are different now but l still make mine out of a moulding resin. I never use water to make the floats sink l use the adjustable brass loading to vary the sinking speed. We used small ones in the early days for roach with maggot and casters. I enlarged the bubble later for carp and my floats outcast the plastic water filled models fly truer and are much smaller . I can cast in excess of 35 metres with a 6g bubble and being light they create less of a disturbance when cast . I fish them exactly the same way as you firing three or four loose offerings per cast . It was a devastating method 45 years ago and still produce great weights today. I'm very proud of my floats and really pleased they are still in use today. They were so effective all those years ago that local fisheries banned the method. thankfully this is no longer the case and are very effective at my local fishery .

Good match.Unlucky with lost fish. Happens to all of us. I personally would have used either 9 or 10ft Feeders matched to .20 main line and .18 trace to12 hook. I would have also tried a pellet waggler since you were getting bites within 20 seconds of casting. I also agree with other comment regarding keeping your rod as close to surface of the water when playing the fish, it tends to confuse them and makes for easier playing of the fish. Well done thought.
