Mt Killington, VT
On June 29, 2024, I summited Mt. Killington, VT, which completed my goal to climb the five high peaks of Vermont (4,000 feet or higher) and with Vermont done, I've completed the Northeast 111 high peaks (4,000-footers in Catskills, Adirondacks, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine) -- all barefoot. This quest started in September 2015, long before I'd even heard of the NE 111 challenge, with a barefoot ascent of Hunter Mountain in the Catskills. What a journey! So much fun.

The Barefoot Autism Challenge takes place during April each year (Autism Acceptance Month), the goal being simply to go somewhere barefoot for the experience, and to show support for the autistic community, where barefoot is often popular for the sense of "grounding." Winter Storm in the Shawangunks
zhlédnutí 33Před 4 měsíci
The main idea behind "flow" is to learn to manage your mind, and one way to do so is to set specific objectives for even short and simple training exercises in this case, for a hike during a cold rainy winter storm on trails running over with water not conditions that would seem amenable to flow-state, unless you're prepared and on plan

Eagle Mountain

6.8 squishy miles on the lovely trails in Eagle Mountain Park and around Eagle Mountain Lake, just north of Fort Worth, Texas. With trails that are mostly soft and sandy, this would be a wonderful spot for barefooting on a dry summer day, and as nice a spot for beginners as I can imagine. Even on a cool (low 40s) and wet day, it was a fun hike

A very difficult barefoot climb in the Superstition Mountains, east of Phoenix. The trail started out flat, but was covered in gravel. Then it got steep and rocky and was indistinct in places. Barefoot in NY: 👍
Forest F❤J???😊
I love going barefoot.
Pewf! I’m also a 24/7 Barefooter and love hiking and walking Barefoot in New York City, so I also love Feet and Walking Barefoot!
All adults and especially children would benefit from just throwing ALL of our shoes and socks in the trash and be barefoot 24/7 <3 shoes are just pointless, gross, and unhealthy, and that's a fact!
Heather definitely has SEXY, SEXY FEET so worth of unlimited foot massages.
I've seen you at the canister on North Dome. I was with Harold Oakhill, a 3500 member.
Nice to connect with you again Christopher -- happy hiking!
Jesus loves you 💕💖✝️
Do you drive barefoot 🦶
Yep!
No one said when this barefoot day was. And this chick is not really barefoot.
"Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living - being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature".- Adele Coombs, “Barefoot Dreaming” 🦶🏼☺🦶🏼 ...💚

Every day in Australia is barefoot day.
She apparently doesnt even know what it is. She has socks on.
Absolutely not true about our pets preference for being grounded. Whenever (every day) I go for a bike ride, my wife's Maltese Terrier (I'm not really an advocate of small white dogs) runs around barking (I'm sure she is being rude to me), demanding that she comes, whilst getting into her backpack carrier. On a 30 kilometre bike ride, she will only run for about 1 kilometre, spread over 2 runs.
Cite one peer-reviewed source that even identifies "grounding" as a testable phenomenon. You cant. You're a kool-aid drinking weirdo
I support this
Same here. Conceptualize the fragrance of her socks and feet rn. Wew lad
Awesome! Love the Snorlax shirt. And the buttons
Love the transition from saying the word flow and then showing the flowing water!!

Brave to go barefoot!! Any cholla in your feet?
Right at the top I got something in one foot - annoying for a few minutes, nothing worse
Enjoy your time in Texas. Your so right always a fun adventure and each day can feel different.
I'm a bit late with seeing this video, I get that running in the cold shirtless is supposed to toughen you up I guess, but what are you toughening up for exactly? Do you have a job where you are in the cold alot?
Hi Dave. Why do I do this? Training myself to manage mild discomfort of cold air on skin so that I can be better acclimated to winter and thus safer and happier during the winter. Plus like any kind of training, the goal is mental - I e., better ability to self manage. Plus it's fun -- bracing and exhilarating, albeit a kind of demanding fun (some peeps call this "type 2 fun"). Back to your question - no, my job is indoors desk job in temperature controlled environment which is frankly monotonous. I feel a strong need for variety and intensity which means hot and cold too, not always 68 F
@@posnerk123 got it. Thank you for your thoughts. When I run on these very cold days, I see one guy on the running path who runs shirtless, even when it's only in the teens and I'm one of these people who are just like, "why?!" It seems so unnecessary, but I guess if it's what you like to do, it's what you like to do
About 10 years ago I was having trouble dealing with the cold. Then I saw a shirtless runner in the winter and I was like -- 😮. But I decided if he could do it, so could I

Stunning country
Why are you barefoot?
I do barefoot hiking for the fun and extra challenge. I started experimenting with barefoot almost ten years ago. Now I only wear shoes when I need to. More fun, more intense, every step an adventure - instead of just focused on speed. Which is especially good as you get older
Super accomplishment. Much respect. Plenty of snow to challenge you back in NY. Happy trails to you.
Rugged terrain there. Experience on those types of trails might take a long time to master. Very Impressive.
Thank you. For me it is mostly about going slowly
This looks like a rocky climb!
yes, you could say that!
@@posnerk123 Not the kind of terrain where I would take barefoot beginners. Not even sure if I'd try it myself, being more of an "enjoyment hiker" who loves the soft grassy textures on some mountains here.
@@uncipaws7643 1000% agree. I would never take a beginner here. I take beginners on flat grassy trails, or maybe something in the forest with a little elevation and a few rocks -- but in that case it might be only 0.5 miles
I Love going barefoot
Great video, looks like a fun climb for you. Happy New Year !
Thanks, you too!
The leaves and stones in your video look so inviting. Barefoot hiking is awesome. You feel so connected and it is the best part of being barefoot as far as I'm concerned. It rounds off the experience of being in nature and provides for a full sensory experience. Once you hike barefoot, you never want to go back 🐾
Such a pleasurable experience 👣
Who would I get in contact with to volunteer in my area. Specifically on the SRT. I don’t have much free time, but I would like to help when I can.
Jordan, you came to the right place. I'll send you an email to connect to the SRT supervisor, but in general for anyone who's interested in volunteering, visit www.nynjtc.org/volunteer-now
Gorgeous view ! Love that.
what amazing variety underfoot. Trails like that are wonderful. You didn't mention how slippery mud can be, I've found downhill on slick mud a challenge. What ideas can you share for staying upright.
i agree - downhill slick mud is a challenge. during the trip i slipped and fell on my butt at least once. but not many times, because on mountainous terrain, the mud ends up lying flat on the trail, rather than in steep banks. tips: when in doubt, crouch and get your center of mass down lower. or hang onto a tree!
Great information. The tilting of those rocks will give your ankles a work out, Lowering your weight slowly is key and you are a master. Thanks for the pointers.
Great job looks like a lot of ouchies could be had
No ouchies. Because I moved very slowly!
Congrats man I am happy for you. Great climber
Thank you sir!
Very nice ……instead of blowing those crackers you did something like this great ❤it
Had a blast last year doing the half. And missing turns and doing an extra 5+ miles. So I’m going to do the 30 miler this year. Can’t wait! Love the challenge of the unsupported unmarked race.
So excited to see you running ultra's Ru and just ecstatic to have you join us in Sep!
You can tell she likes being barefoot but just needs more practice.
It's always more difficult going down for me. Knees and Ankles would much rather climb. Outstanding views !
Agree. Have gradually gotten better at downhill. Takes lots of core engagement!
Cool❤❤❤

Tony, this is in the Shawangunks, near the village of Gardiner
