This was filmed about a week ago. Everything is fine so far. The new light is on and the new fish has been in since 8/5. That update will be out a week from today. The shrimp tank also made an appearance in this video. I will make a video dedicated to updating it, as well as highlighting the do's and don'ts of a shrimp tank setup. I ended up bringing home 5 white-finned rosy tetras. So far so good. The plan is to do a smaller water change every day for a week or two just to make sure my water stays clean and free of any ammonia or nitrites that would kill any fish or shrimp in my tank. Also using a bit of Prime as it helps neutralize ammonia and nitrites.
Using No Planaria

This is a quick guide on using the product No Planaria. One thing you will want to take note of is that you have to take any carbon out of your filter before using this product. If you have a big outbreak of Planaria, don't just rely on this product to fix your issue. You have to find the source of the issue, which is most likely overfeeding, and correct it. You can find No Planaria on eBay for...

While I have a 55 gallon and 10 gallon planted freshwater tanks, most of my tanks are Saltwater Reef Tanks. I am slowly replacing all of my Aqua Clear filters with these due to how quiet they run, ease of maintenance and flow adjustability. For FW tanks, I would divide the tank rating by half at least and for SW, I would divide by 3 or maybe even by 4, depending on what corals you're keeping. Great HOB filters and one I most highly recommend!!!

I have pet scuds in a bowl. But planaria are there. They’re related closely to shrimp and technically are. Is the chemical scud friendly? I don’t want to lose the daphnaea or scuds.

It is so hard to kill scuds. I went to war with them in one of my tanks and they are some of the hardiest fellas out there. I have used this stuff before and it seemed to have absolutely 0 impact on scuds in my tank lol

Hello! Can i use a tidal 55 for a 15 gallon? Because the tidal 35 does not have much features or the intake pipe, so i really would prefer the 55, but it also might be a bit overkill. What do you think? Does smaller tanks matter?

I've used No Planaria for a few years now. I was raising hundreds of shrimp at one time. Over 500 cherry reds in one tank. And never had a problem. Worms are gross, no matter what type. Detritus worms are supposedly in most all tanks. Specially a heavily planted older tank. This does not kill Detritus worms. People mistake them for Planaria worms. If you have a huge outbreak of Detritus worms, you are feeding your fish to much. In summer, I use a lot of rain water. And even though I do my best to keep a fine screen over the rain barrels. Certain creatures make it to my tanks. Most, the fish eat, or are no problem and part of the ecosystem. To me, the worst creature is the Dragonfly nymph or damselfly nymph. And No Planaria wont kill them. Some nymphs can live 5 years before becoming an adult. And a fair sized nymph can grab a male guppy and bite it in half. If you find one nymph, you probably have up to a dozen. Hard to see. I use a turkey baster to catch them. But they can be fast. Oh, by the way. Never use a razor and cut Planaria in half against the glass or a rock, thinking that will kill them. They are very unique. You can cut one Planaria into 279 pieces, and each piece will regenerate a new head and tail. 🤨

I just dosed my tank. It's a five and a half gallon tank that has 1 beta 4 yellow back shrimp and some snails mixed in with plants and moss. If any of these die I will post it here. Thanks for the tip on the product. Edit: the next morning 3 out if 4 shrimp were floating. I quickly tossed them into a spare tank and they began to move. No idea if they will make it. I also moved my beta though he looked ok. I am thinking and baby shrimp that hatched are in peril. They are too small to see so I don't know. My tank is only a 5.5 gal tank. Looks like Hydra might be gone. I will look closer.

I know this is a year old comment. But unless you accidentally added to much, I can't believe the Shrimp died. If you look at videos from some of the BIG Shrimp Breeders, even they use No Planaria. I used to breed Shrimp, and have had over 500 in one tank. Added No Planaria without incident.

Here's the problem. Wild caught. They are from areas of natural flowing water [think rivers/streams]... so, what's the problem/warning you ask? I keep finding them INSIDE my Tidal 55 HOB filters external water/media reservoir. That's right. They jump UPSTREAM. And they want to hang out INSIDE the HOB filter's reservoir. So, if your neon blue dwarf gobies (or any other wild caught dwarf gobies go missing for a few days... CHECK YOUR RESEVOIR TANK -- very carefully. 23
