8 inches is the width of a volley ball. A volley ball! The largest hail stones I saw in this video were under the size of a regulation tennis ball which is around 2.65 inches or so. Was the, ‘8 inches’ description written by a guy? Guys tend to have trouble understanding what 8 inches actually is. It’s a very personal problem for them though, so maybe best not mention it...

Snowstorms have been going on the higher elevations like the fourteeners, the Sierra Mountains of California, the Cascades Mountains of Western Washington since the beginning of time. When I was in the USAF, my wife and myself went on a honeymoon to Rocky Mountain National Park in late May, 1977. When we were crossing Trail Ridge Road, snowplow trucks were going back to Estes Park. Because the previous night it snowed above 10,000 feet. It didn't make a difference that the winter of 1976-1977 was a mild winter. By the way, I have driven across Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico all in winter months. Except for when I was in the military, I lived all my life in Michigan.
