10mm to 11mm Mechanical Pump Upgrade / Jeep XJ 2.5TD
I've picked up a fully mechanical pump for the Jeep XJ with an 11mm plunger in it. In this video I will be testing the pump out to increase the fuel delivery by about 20 percent. This should spool the turbo up much sooner giving more low down torque on demand, provided everything is dialed in good with throttle.
Up top I'm not really looking for any more power as 100 - 110kph is about as fast as the speed limit goes up here. But this pump should make these kind of speeds more effortless although I think the issue will be exhaust back pressure and a possible egt build up if pushed too hard. But this video is just for testing purposes so i will see what its like and tweak the setup over time for the best performance.

Camping Jeep XJ Dual Battery Setup / Victron System
zhlédnutí 4,1KPřed 21 dnem
I've been looking for a solution for dual battery storage in the XJ for some time and i've bitten the bullet and modified the rear passenger seats to work with battery boxes. The plan is to have two AMG deep cycle gel batteries under the rear seats to keep the weight low down, balanced and make use of dead space. I'm using two 90Ah batteries along side a Victron DC DC Charger and a Victron MPPT...

Back in late 2020 I got a job for a local garage called Asele Bilservice, restoring this 1972 Mercades w108 280SE. It was owned by an American guy who moved to Sweden and brought the car with him. His mother owned this from new so its been in the family for a while and carries a lot of sentimental value to them. The car was in a rough state when I started on it. I've toyed with the idea, but it's not easy to do in Sweden. I personally really like this engine. It's probably up around 180hp now. It's rebuildable and mechanical, and I have everything I need to keep it going for another 20/30 years. In that time, diesels will be banned anyway. The m57 is an excellent engine, but it's another shit storm of work, money, and bullshit.

    OMG, hell of a job ! @WorkshoptoWilderness may I ask you how you unscrewed two of the three bolts of the pump? one easy, the one one the head side is impossible to reach, and the other one of the bottom, can't even see it. Any special/handmade tool ? What did you used to remove the injectors without damaging the two small diesel return lines ? I used a huge long socket and given the length and force needed the socket slightly displaces and damaged it.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness Před 11 dny

      For the nut close to the head, I used a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to tap it loose. I also used the same method to tighten it. Underneath the pump required removal of the battery and alternator. Initially, when setting up the pump, this one was left snug until I was happy with the timing. I also test drove the pump without this bolt tightened. The injectors are an absolute pain in the ass and require super human strength to loosen. I ground the face of a 28mm long socket originally so that it would have maximum engagement without the small taper at the lip of the socket. I removed the valve cover also. The two return nipples didn't seem to be an issue, even now that it's on a 27mm. Thank you! It was a lot of work. I just have to keep an eye on everything now.

    Real good job Mike, like all yours mods and this is kind of what I would like to achieve with mine get more power in lower rpm so may take some ideas from this😊 Also few times in this video I've noticed that your rpm /speed are high but your engine oil pressure is fluctuating and dropping low, is all fine there? All best from Scotland

      It's a really good mod. I took it out for a drive today, and it was really nice to be able to spool the turbo up early. That oil sensor is dead. There's an analogue gauge next to the egt. I can't find the original sensor anywhere... Thanks for watching

    Sorry Mike but I stopped watching. Being forced to watch before, during and after your video 2 minute blocks of advertising about some stupid Chinese computer game is more than I can bear.

      There is one advert insert at the start and one at the end. That's all there is. Perhaps the AI knows you fucking love Chinese computer games.

    I really like the bottle jack idea, I was honestly just gonna get out there with a sledgehammer, but this seems much more precise.

    Where do you get the hardware to mount solar panels?

      I made it. Roof rails come with the tent so I adapted them and drilled and bolted the panels on.

    Maybe the loud fan is a good idea, then people won’t be able to tell if you’re running the fan or really are just getting it on with a vacuum.😂
