Thank you, many have also suggested the same. I’ll have to return to try. Some have said the stall may block the driver door. You can’t drive too far forward because there is a garden bed and sign which will stop you. The slung cable may also prevent you and the rear passenger from opening the door once plugged in.

Some are saying it might be hard to open the driver door if you’re too close to the charger. The cable slung across the driver door makes it hard to get back into the car also 🤔

@@LudicrousFeed Yes, true. It might be good to see how long the cable on a v4 is in practice, v3 cables are very short you'd have no option but to use the 'wrong' charger. Like you said, job for another day. Of course you could sit in the passenger seat

Yes and no. Some people just like driving the car without the ever using the semi-autonomous features

That's a good practical application for this feature. One would presume the range is limitless providing there is cell coverage?

I suspect they won't be the first choice for many non-Tesla owners due to the price but they are a crucial backup due to their reliability which provides the confidence we need as EV owners to go for long drives

It's important that BYD acknowledge the original Atto 3 owners who put their trust in the brand as early adopters

Let's hope Tesla rehire some if not most of the charging team back that they laid off earlier in 2024 to help roll out more Superchargers

Thanks! It's more than likely that you'll receive a March 2024+ vehicle so you should be able to charge at these V3/4 Superchargers without requiring an upgrade. I would check with your sales rep the build date nonetheless

@@LudicrousFeed @moonwatch181O - with any car a person buys (bEV, ice) they should always specifically ask what is the 'Built Date' and don't let the salesman deceive one into being given the 'Compliance Date'. the 'Built Date' matters heavily when reselling - because (as an example) a November/December 2023 built car is "classified" by the buyer [used car sales network] as a December 2022 built car (they round it backward to beginning of that year [2023] and minus one month to get December 2022) that is how they say "ah but its considered a December 2022 built by all other used car salesman so we can only offer you $_ _ , _ _ _"

Appreciate the advice. Have you personally tried it? Do we have photographic evidence that the cable is long enough when driving in? Legitimately asking for future usage

In retrospect maybe … I’ll have to go back some time to test that theory. Don’t forget it’s two door lengths to the charge port and as you can see the cable was already almost on stretch with the reach around

The sentiment I got speaking to the team today is that the fix is coming to Atto 3 owners … whether it’s free or paid is the main issue. How much would you be willing to pay to get this sorted?

I'm sure Zeekr/Geely was aware of the positive press your Seal ownership had for BYD. It may be why Seal is now outselling the Atto3 after a slow start. Word of mouth is so important. Yes, it will cost EV Direct but surely they must realise 13,000 unhappy Atto3 customers will cost a lot more.

The updates are released to the fleet in batches so hang in there, it should arrive eventually

Thanks! I’ve found the white paint on my Seal to be quite thick so happy to rest the insulated cable on the boot 👍

@@LudicrousFeed @Balance1973 - i thought similar when I saw the footage too, but end of the day got to get the charging done and its only paint at the end of the day :)

Why not just park the car nose in, I've done it and the cable just goes to the port without it going over the car

Pre 2024 plate Atto 3 owners need to keep applying the pressure to EV Direct to get the fix available for them

am going have to do this then, I only a pre 2024 BYD Atto3 and am having the same problem...CANNOT charge at the Tesla V4 in Raymond Tce...contacted BYD Cardiff where I brought the car and they say it's a hardware problem, and they cannot give me a time frame as to when it would be fix, only that they are working on the problem.... I trully like the Atto3, its a great car to drive and am liking it, but with my starting my business soon and would be driving all over the state, and NOT being able to charge at a Tesla Supercharger, it's gonna cost me time on the road...and cannot afford this.... I might have to contact BYD Sydney in getting this issue fixed....and see if they would listen...
