The vx5 would have been a better comparison.
Metal would of been better
Only one problem. Sometimes the bullet will just ram into the rifling and not move if the neck tension is tight. I’ve had this issue. I had to make a cut on the neck to get the bullet to move
Nice - But the addition of a double hinged float exactly the same size as the front. Makes it effective on very rough grading.
Fantastic, I was thinking about this design in my head, good to know it will work. Think I’ll use chain though and build a wood frame for the block(s) vs. shelf brackets.
How many thousandths does that push the shoulder back???
Leupold is top of the line. Votex doesn't even come close.
I have tried numerous brands but always come back to Leupold. No other reason than in my subjective opinion it seems to have the best sight picture and edge to edge clarity.
You explained and demonstrated the process well. Thank you.
thanks this is very useful.I am a disabled single mom so I use my chevy truck for everything.knowing how to use and make this I can now grade my driveway my self.Thank you for this video you did a great job explaining it.
Very well done very clear and simple method. Without the usual complication shown by so many. Thank you
Leupold > Vortex..................on any product, in every aspect, period.
Can you drag on dry dirt or dose it have to be wet first
i usually drag it damp just to help with dust but ive done it dry and it works just as well
Very Simple DRAG design ...👍
Where are the Vortex scopes made? By whom? Leupold are American made. If all other things were a push, a give or take, or differences small one way or the other, American-made will always trump the imports for me. Thanks for th review.
American assembled it's got Chinese parts just like every thing else in the world today
so, I will need to keep my brass separated by the rifle I use this method for, correct?
I have encountered soft strikes and misfires. I followed this video and the starting point was an average headspace for the batch, then bumping back .003” . I failed to check if this value was within SAMMI headspace specs. They were not which resulted in misfires and soft strikes….. i now just resize to a median SAMMI headspace value.
Do you suggest to seat and crimped at the same time?
How does this work for clearing brush?
I've never own a vortex. There's nothing against them but I just think Leupold scopes just looks more nice in my eyes. All Leupold scopes on my guns!
The angle iron is 3/16" thick in 4' and 6' lengths but what is the length you used on the angle itself? 1 1/2", 2", 3" ?
3 inch is what I used and I bet 2 inch would work also but would be lighter
A short story to explain my hands down win to Leupold. I know a man that lived and hunted Alaska for 35 years. During a sheep hunt he lost his footing on a shale bank and his gun tumbled and bounced down a rocky slope. He survived pretty well. Retrieving the rifle he found the stock broken and a crosshair hanging. He replaced the stock and sent the scope with a letter of explanation back to the factory address saying that it was no fault of theirs but could they fix it. Two weeks later he received a new updated version of the same scope and a letter of apology that their product failed. No charge. That instance and the other positive experiences that I’ve had make it hard for me to look anywhere else in the same price range. I do look forward to more exposure to the vortex. Even this old dog can learn something new.
Weaved a 1” bar in and out of a chain-link fence attached a piece of 8“ x 2“ (somewhere around that) with two fat bolts to hold weights in place, about 1 foot from the end and drugged that fence around with no problem like how the Little Leagues drags around that fence at your local community park … look up a drag screen to get the visual
Can this method be applyed to lever action?
It would probably work on a lever gun but I doubt you could load to lands anyways on a lever action unless it was custom made, because i wouldnt think you would be able to chamber one loaded that long from the internal magazine on a production rifle
And it's kind of a pain chamber loading one at a time on a lever gun
@@hinshawshowto Thank you very much for your answer!
Nice, inexpensive DIY alternative to a drag harrow. Thanks for sharing it. I added an extra section of chain link fence to mine. Gets the job done and saved me real $.
Well...compare leupold to Swarovski...and it's pronounced Loopold, not le-a-pold.
We towed 3 truck/tractor tyres in a triangle formation. Alternatively, tow around full sheet of construction reinforcing mesh, eg 6mx2.4m. By adding to end, foot diameter steel or concrete pipe to achieve very good soil compaction for a house site or road.
Hmm why engage the mower deck in the rocks though 😂 nice work though 👊
Haha the mower decks all bent and worn out so it's always partially engaged and I've never got around to rebuilding it lol
Excellent video. Going to build one next week. The yard looks amazing for a short amount of time you spent on it.
Thank you hope it works well for you!!!
Undoubtedly the most helpful and easiest to understand video to explain this thus far. Being a newbie people seem to make it difficult. Thank You!
I appreciate that happy reloading
I had a Leupold on my First RIfle , I have a Vortex on my 270 now but the Leupolds at the store have better lenses , so maybe in the next few months i may get a Leupold .
Dude you should learn how to pronounce Leupold, there’s no Leo in it.
Yeah man sorry just said it that way my whole life because dad always did, kind of a hard habit to break now
I sell optics and what i have found is pound for pound, dollar for dollar.... if youre putting it on a gun, leupold wins. If youre holding it in your hands (binos, range finders, spotting scopes etc) vortex wins.
Leupold binos are far better than vortex.
Loved it. Easy, straight to the point, no BS talk. Thank you for sharing 👏
Pronounced, Loopold. They used to say it in the packaging but whatever.
Haha yeah 🤣 I've just said it that way my whole life sorry if it bothered you.
I noticed the rope end at the knot is frayed, suggest using a heat source to melt the nylon rope ends together, then tie that to the main rope with black wire ties. I also suggest some heavy galvanized chain link (10 ga) fencing bolted to the bottom (U bolts) through the 2x4's to preserve the wood and give a better flat pattern overall. Also suggest using old motor oil to seal the wood, it will last much longer.
Good input !!!
Leupole much better scopes.
Vortex is for amateurs n toy soldiers
Leupold everyday for me.
I just picked up a heavy barele 308. It has a Leupold 6.5 X 20 X 40 with adjustable parallax. This scope is bright & clear. It has a very fine cross hair. Good for Quarter's at 200 yds.
What leupold scope is that specifically, thats exactly what I'm looking for
@@kylecirincione6691 Verri X III or II.
Have you tried it on recently tilled soil?
No question Leupold! Show me a Vortex made in 1974 and I'll show you my working Leupold's made in 1974. If you have a Vortex, you will need the warranty. Bottom end Vortex scopes are 100% made in China. That's a hard no for me.
I have one where did you get the holder for it bud it's dangerous just carrying without anything to protect the blade nice knife
So is this for measuring headspace? What is the benefit of finding the lands
To find COAL (cartridge over all length)....that way he can measure for how much bullet jump he wants, or to find what works best in his barrel.... headspace is a different measurement...it has to do with the brass case interaction with the barrels chamber....for example...most rifle cartridges headspace off the shoulder...
@@RobertSmith-xh4lx ty for that. Now it makes more sense
"Lew-poled"
Just because you don't do something doesn't mean it's not a good thing to do. Neck sizing is done very often once the case is fire formed to the rifle.
When setting up the dies just read the instructions that come with the die. Most often with non carbide dies you screw it down until it touches the shell holder and then down 1/8 turn more. You will then be able to feel the ram cam over.
Thank you. Never thought of a pallet. Great idea. Home Depot will be happy to get rid of the pallets they have.
i use a quikrete pallet, free at home depot, same idea
I'm still going through more load developement and testing but so far no major negative with crimping in my 338 lapua. It appears that the rifle likes either a light/no crimp or a heavy crimp. But not a medium crimp. Went from a 1 moa group heavy crimp to about 4 moa medium crimp. Will be doing more testing to check. As a control group I do compare them to none crimped as well that gets about 1 moa.
