To explain the element thing, the Chinese Zodiac a five element system each with a corresponding color. Wood/Blue, Fire/Red, Earth/Yellow, Metal/White, and Water/Black. I should also point out Wood/Blue does have a connection to Air/Green so that can be interchangeable. I am an Earth Tiger by the way. Ironic as I don't associate myself with yellow that often.

So to put the Goddamn Blackwatch's last battle into perspective; A Lance is 4 mechs/vechicles A Company is 3 Lances A Battalion is 3 Companies, and also has additional areospace and atillery assets attached. A Regiment is 3 Battalions. The 4th Amaris Dragoons were a Regiment. The defending Blackwatch were 9 mechs total.

Basically sabot rounds don't do well in rifled barrels because of the fins part of fin stabilized, they catch the wind in weird ways and fly off in random directions. If you make a long dart without fins it won't fly well. The british solution is basically to wrap a teflon bearing around the sabot and allow it to free spin.
