OMG! The plant that is always dying is a Peace Lily and it's the most dramatic plant we've ever had. We can get away with watering our plants once a week (summer), twice a week (winter). But not with this guy. Oh no! If you put it in a direct sun and it's a sunny day it will be dramatic the next day. If you put it away from direct sun it will be dramatic after 3-4 days. Surprisingly it's being dramatic but it still hasn't died (our experience). So if you like a little drama in your dev game shed you can try to water it more frequently. I use my unfinished glass of water every now and then. If you are no drama plant people I would highly recommend Zamioculcas plant. It's very hardy and it's leaves look thick and healthy. It's likes having no space in the pot and does not like frequent watering. I,ve also noticed you have Sansevieria -also good choice. It's also hardy but needs more watering than Zamioculcas. Sansevieria comes with many different colors. You might find some that you will like. Anyway say "hi, drama queen" from me to your Peace Lily ❤.

I agree with the overall sentiment, and of course we all have our own relationships with these games - but I disagree that you really only ever remember the overly difficult puzzles. I find that I remember the ones that give me a little trouble, but that I figured out myself. Like pirate insults in MI or finding a way out that hotel in BS. Or how about working out details about a scene in The Case of the Golden Idol - that one in particular connects the 'puzzles' directly into the story. Without those little reward nuggets the games wouldn't be enjoyable. So one thing can't really live without the other. The stories need the puzzles and the puzzles need the stories.

I relate to this a lot... always throwing sh*t at the wall and hoping something sticks, but never actually getting anything off the ground in the way the projects deserved. I finished some novels, screenplays, games, apps, albums, films, ... and never, ever, got anywhere. Still do it--it's compulsive at this point--but it's a hobby. It's sad how undervalued creative work is. And it's hard to spend your whole life waiting for others to recognize your genius!

This definitely helped! There were a few moments where you kinda glossed over a few things - I'm forgetting the exact ones...maybe even showing copying the game over into the repository folder would be helpful, as well as showing how to remap the file path in Unity? I had to figure a few of these steps out on my own. They might be very basic, but then...I'm kinda at basic B levels in learning Unity, Github, etc. I say all this without trying to take away from the incredible effort that you and Pontus put in, to show us how this is done. But if you ever revisit this topic or do other tutorials, never underestimate the value of 'ELI5' steps for those of us that need that level of guidance. Anyway, despite all that: THANK YOU! Seriously. You both defanged what seemed like a scary process. Appreciate knowing I can safely store my files in GitHub and make (and unmake) crucial changes as needed.

For me personally having grown up playing monkey island Indiana jones and other Lucas arts games it had a really captivating atmosphere and the detective aspect of a wayward hero drawn into a bizarre adventure involving templars was magical. the fact they hit hard on so many historical accuracies as well traveling to real world locations made it even more tangible and you could imagine not just being in these places but discovering new secrets like George. The banter was fantastic and honestly its to this day one mf my all time favourites games. they missed the mark on 2 it was ok but 3 and 4 were horrible. Broken sword 5 parts 1 & 2 was a redemption in that sense adding so much more to the characters and playability with modern controls and quality of life changes sticking to the original format more.

I don't want to cause artistic drama, but there's one aspect of the graphics that sorta rub me the wrong way, and it's not on the diagonals. When in profile, there should be loads of space between the eye and the nose. The bridge of the nose is there, and the eyes are quite recessed back from it. In your art, the eyes are right against the edge of the face instead. It's acceptable in the diagonals instead. Source: professional cartoonist. Feel free to get in touch for advice if you wish!

Wishlisted! Your game looks fun and can't wait to play it! I have a lot of respect for you doing hand drawn frame-based animation. I do the same for my game and OMG, it's sooo painstakingly hard to animate. Run/Walk cycles without experience is.... ugh... like building the Sistine Chapel from scratch without a blueprint. Also, working in Artrage Vitae for my character art has no animation tools but looks great. I'm starting to use Photoshop to help sketch an animation before I take it into my art program to polish it up, but geez, it's tough, and I personally think the hand-drawn art styles and frame-based animation are so well worth the return of investment when it comes to appeal and aesthetics to any game, so I struggle on. Glad you were able to get your directional movement animation done. I'm sure that was tedious to redraw the same animation over and over again because it didn't look right.

Honestly do whatever looks right. There was an issue with the Disney animators back in the 30's and 40's with Mickey Mouse's ears. The would ostensibly rotate his ears around his head, instead of doing a true 3-dimensional representation of mouse ears. (Something like you'd see on the costumed characters in Disneyland, or sculptures and things). They had trouble drawing him from the top down when they just decided never to draw him from the top down. So in most cases, it didn't matter that the ears weren't proportioned and rotated as they would be on a real 3d object, but just that it looked right. So you can show some of his nose and his eyes more or less regardless of how it would look in real life, as long as it looks right to you.
