Plumbers will sometimes leave a small area in the rear of the toilet open for water to channel out, in case it leaks. If you leave too much area open, bugs can enter and camp out inside the unders of your porcelain throne. Water & moisture from the outside, and nasties like urine can also congregate under the edges and create a mess if you're not careful. I caulk everything except and inch to a few inches in the back (usually the most difucult spot to get to).

Depending on the grout and tile. Its not always a good idea to make it that consistency. I prefer my grout thicker but great video

Step 1 for me has mostly been turn off the water valve, realize its old and defective so now turn off the water at your main. Next go to the hardware store ans buy a new 1/4 turn compression valve. IF you don't have the proper tool continue for 30 mins trying to get the ferrule off the pipe with the nut behind ot, realize you should just cut it off or use a CZcams trick of using a crescent wrench and hammer. Realize you have no room for that and say either fuck it and reuse the old nut and ferrule or use a recip saw to cut the whole thing out. Step 2 realize your sawzall skills are ahit and you have a bunch of burrs on the pipe but continue anyways to reconnect. Step 3 realize after install of new toilet you have a leak from the valve because you had burrs on the pipe. Step 4 curse and blame everything around you.. Step 5 eventually get it done and afterward feel like you need to talk to a psychiatrist.. 😂😂😂... All in all it is a Pain BUT invest in a 1/2. Ferrule puller on amazon and it'll make life easy. When it comes to planning and plumbing i just double me ETA on how long i think a job is gonna take.

The Glidden diamond is absolutely horrible as well. Same thing, thick gooey uneven sheen. Really hoping 2nd coat fixes my issue..i used the 14 dollar Glidden ceiling paint with zero issues.. so i figured their best line up would be nice.... not even close

Fully drain the tank and bowl with a turkey baster or a sponge. They also make that stuff that turns the water into mush Also, have an empty, open trash bag nearby to place the toilet on so you don’t get old wax and muck on the floor. Also, if you’re not reusing the toilet, you can dissemble the tank from the bowl, if it’s a two piece, to make it easier to move

Use the behr ultra paint and yes glide den premium is bad which is why most sane associates don’t recommend it. Use behr i100 or i300 if looking to save money instead or use PPG speed hide which is around the same price for a much better product. Worked the department for 2 years I know what I am talking about

This is the third video review where people are saying the same thing.. it’s such a pain to work with, I don’t understand it at all, and it doesn’t stay! Stringy, gooey, inconsistent. I paid 30 bucks at Walmart, but I will stay away next time.

My uncle bought that building in 1970 and opened McDonald's Bakery. He moved to Florida and rented it out until 1976 when he came back and opened the Daffodil Bakery. He sold it to Beatrice Livingston in 1979 where she continued to run it as a bakery until the early to mid 1990s. My uncle opened another bakery on North Cumberland call Mac's Donut King and sold it when he was ready to retire. I spent a lot of summers in the building as a kid working for my uncle. When I was 13 I ran the bakery for 2 weeks while Ms Livingston went out of town. I had no ideal that was an alley at one time, very cool. The painted signs are awesome! Thanks for restoring this building, you did a great job.
