  • 🐇🚐 Welcome to "Vanventures Gone Wild: The Ford Econoline Rabbit Hole Edition!" 🎉
Buckle up, folks, because in this wild ride of a CZcams video, we dive headfirst into the fascinating world of working on my old Ford Econoline. But hold on tight, because this isn't your average repair tutorial chat. Nope, this is where chaos meets comedy, and we're here to entertain you while we navigate the glorious mess of mechanical mayhem!
Join your fearless host, Rob "The Van Whisperer" Ingram, as he takes on the challenge of bringing a vintage Ford Econoline back to life. With his trusty toolbox and a sidekick named Sparky (the overly enthusiastic but not-so-bright mig welder), Rob will show you the true definition of Ford 240 IL6 madness.
In each episode, we'll tackle a new Econoline-related conundrum: from electrical gremlins that seem to have a mind of their own, to rusted parts that require some creative problem-solving (duct tape, anyone?), and everything in between. Our mantra is simple: no repair is too absurd, no solution too unconventional!
But that's not all, folks! Prepare for unexpected twists and turns as Rob takes detours down rabbit holes that lead to bizarre adventures. From running into a herd of wild goats in the middle of nowhere to accidentally stumbling upon a secret disco party inside the Econoline(None of that is true...YET).
So, whether you're an experienced gearhead looking for a good laugh or a complete newbie wondering how on earth a vehicle repair show can be this bonkers, this channel is for you! Get ready to question your sanity while being thoroughly entertained by our misadventures.

⚠️ Disclaimer: No vans or animals were harmed during the making of this series. Rob, however, did suffer a minor grease-related incident involving a banana peel.

Did that one come with any bullet holes? My dad used to have one but it got shot.

LOL - That is kind of a wild question, But to be honest I didn't see any holes when I painted it but I will keep an eye open and let you know. :P

@@Rob.Ingram it was a wild neighborhood back in the seventies. I believe they were 45 cal so they should be visible.

You are so right, I should see them for sure if they are 45cal holes. I will for sure let you know.

I don't understand how you can have so many problems that require you to make mods on a successful design. BTW, I had a 64 Econoline (a daily at the time) that was missing the belly pan and never even got warm. You don't understand points either. I am driving (daily 6 months of the year) a 66 Falcon that still has the used points it came with 8 yrs ago. Points work just fine unless you plan on racing.

Thank you for your comment and I think it is really cool you had a 64 as a daily driver! With my 66 it just is not working for a daily driver for me. As for a “successful design” there are tons of people on the internet having heat issues so I don’t think I am alone by thinking better air flow going through the doghouse is a bad idea. And for the points, I have no problem working on them but my decision to use a HEI was I just want a more updated system.

@@Rob.Ingram Not saying others aren't having problems too, but I wonder WHY. As you said, people used them for daily work from day one. Why is it you are having so many problems almost 60 years later? My logic says there is something else happening that you are missing. Although newer fuels are more of a problem, I have never had vapour lock. Maybe your heating issue doesn't even exist. Maybe the temp gauge is wrong? Every thing worked fine for many years. As with many things, we have to figure out the "why". Love those old vans, but nature of the design is they have terrible bump steer. That was my only complaint.

@@MaxNafeHorsemanship fuel has for changed, and for sure the old vans have terrible steering. I am working on a fix for that too... LOL
And there are no issues with the gauge. I have changed them plus my water temp stays cooler now after getting better airflow going through the doghouse. I think the high riser value in the exhaust is what was causing the carb to get way too hot and making the gas vaporizing in the carb so I think getting it out of there will fix that issue but I have not really had a chance to drive it since removing it. Update coming soon!
