Hey and welcome to The LiFe in Pines! 🌲We're Ted and Jenna. (CJ, Finley and our clan of Goldens, too!)
We started this channel as a way to document building an off grid tree house on our property, but the Lord led us in a different direction soon after we began.
We ended up buying an 1890’s home in a small tourist town to rent as an AIRBNB. So we gutted it, fixed ALL that was wrong with it, and put it back together!
We’ve done renovation work before, but NOTHING of this magnitude.
We took on this massive project by ourselves, all while homeschooling our kids, running our hobby farm, Ted working his full time hospital job and of course keeping it REAL!
Now that the home is complete, we got right back to building our off-grid treehouse!

Last week we were able to get the tank (aka the bomb 💣 ) buried and that was quite the job! We thought this week was going to be a breeze just having to prep for the next step, but of course digging through the spaghetti bowl of roots presented its own challenges... oh and the rain! SO MUCH RAIN! But, we got it done and now the ground is OFFICIALLY ready for our outhouse foundation!
Ted and CJ also took their annual trip up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, caught lots of fish, almost got carried away by gnats, and battled rain, high winds and big waves both going in and coming out. Overall, they had a great time with friends in the wilderness.

Years ago about 65 years ago!!! I've been to the Boundary Waters and met the Root Beer Lady, "Dorothy Molteron" on Knife lake! It's beautiful up there and yes I do miss it.

all those insects provide smorgasbord for swallows and other insect chasing birds, mother nature is so powerful and can be a tragedy waiting to occur. understand how useful the jackery gen can be but is it Chinese made? dont support the enemy fact. your kids have a variety of skills and confidence to do so much including challenging builds already. great learning and understanding.

The bugs are always bad up there. The rain and storms have been terrible this year and bone dry and hot is Arizona,heading back East this weekend to my unending projects. At least you were able to build the frame and work on other projects in between. Congratulations Finley great job.l can’t believe the chicken uses the doggy door to funny.
