Margaret Rutherford was awesome as detective Miss Marple. The best of those being, "Murder at the Gallop".
Helen Hayes: The First Lady of American Theatre.
I have been quoting that “make alterations” line since junior high. One of the world’s best pieces of advice. Ever.
Shirley won an Oscar for her performance in this film!
The priest gaslighting Seraphina and trying to shame her for knowing truth and having real feelings. So terrifying that he parades himself around the community as some kind of moral spiritual leader.
-wow ... really super, as this shows that in this world everything becomes vulgar, before it was for art, today for money only..........
Directed by a genius.
She’s right “ to h*ll with you!”
The Actress
She was absolutely wonderful. There was really no reason or need for that follow up movie. Without Alice who cares?
She's so good!
I wonder where her Oscar is
Filmed January 31st to June 1969. I first saw it Nov. 11th, 1973 on ABC, the highest rated TV premiere in history with a 42 share (meaning 42% of TVs were tuned in to it). I saw it at a friend's house who had a color TV (we only had black and white); his whole family watching. This is the first blockbuster disaster film. The critics hated it and so did Burt Lancaster. I thought it was one of the best and Helen Hayes won an Oscar. The fictional Lincoln International Airport was supposed to be in Chicago, but actual filming done in Minneapolis MSP. 0:06 Pat Priest of The Munsters sitting behind Helen Hayes.
I love the part where the actress who played Mrs odets on my little Margie says I'll put your lights out for good harper I use that line several times in my life comes in handy too
HOW HIGH IS THE HIGH SCHOOL !! 🎉
Glenda Jackson wasn't "known" for comedy and her role in this movie showed not only that she could do comedy, but do it tremendously well. Great performance and a well-deserved second Oscar. RIP
So-called "Lee Grant" isn't even her real name. She was born Lyova Haskell Rosenthal. Anyone that sells out their heritage to 'Hollywood', by changing their birth name, is deceitful & disrespectful to their parents.
Josephine great in Harvey and Aresenic and Old Lace can't choose between them she was wonderful in both what a gem ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Go tell those silicon dolls in hollyweirdos land to 'act'!!! She is Great and unsurpassed. Butvthese dumb dols today don't even make an effort anymore. And I was born after Dame Magnani time.
Great movie, I enjoy it every time I watch it, I have it on DVD but would love to see it shown more on TV & can't understand why movies like this are not shown more often instead of all those action films which can be violent. Glenda was perfect in this brilliant & very well written movie & I love it every time I watch it!
Oh wonderful!! Wonderful!!
I was a bit surprised to hear the sound of typical Javanese music, and to see a man wearing a "blangkon" on his head
Well, now I'm intrigued! I don't know anything about this movie but I wanna watch it now lol
I feel like this on my damn flight right now
I love Hope Emerson. The scene in Adam's Rib when she picks up Spencer Tracy is priceless.
She was mostly a background role in All the King's Men but this scene alone sealed her Oscar.
Such heartbreaking drama. What a superb actress. Now, we have Marvel Superheroes and Wonder Woman. The decline of civilization.
Mercedes is like Judy Garland with attitude.
The beatnik chick version of Carolyn Jones!
First time I came across Shirley was back in the early 1970s seeing her on tv as the mamma in the Partridge Family. She was meeeh ok looking. But didn't know for a long time afterwards she had been quite a cutie pie in her earlier works, like in this film. :)
Of all Italian actresses, only Giulietta Masina can match Magnani in artistry, and they were completely different. Magnani was a force of nature, a mighty tempest. Masina was also a force of nature, but a secret fountain of spring-water alone in a bleak wilderness.
Anna Magnani was the best in this movie. She was an incredible actress.
RIP Glenda Jackson
RIP Glenda Jackson
Glenda Jackson was a Beautiful Women. 1936-2023 RIP
A great actress and later every Tory's nightmare. RIP
For those of your wanting to watch this movie. Its on hulu thos month. O watched it last night. Great movie
One of the best performances I’ve ever seen. One for the ages.
Anna and Bette Davis became good friends after Bette saw this film. Both actresses had admired each other for many years.
WOW !!! I DID NOT KNOW THAT WAS LINDA HUNT UNTIL TODAY, 5/10/2023/ I GUESS I JUST ENJOY GOOD ACTING AND GOOD MOVIES. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. IT GIVES LINDA EVEN MORE CREDIBILITY WITH HER ACTING ABILITIES. OUTSTANDING !!!!
She' s a great actress. RIP.
Betty Garde as Kitty Stark kills Evelyn Harper in the end. Betty was also a big woman at 5-10" and played toughies including Thelma the giant maid in a Honeymooners episode. She was a friend of mine in her later life! Great Lady!
i gotta re make this again
Reminds us we always are still taking baby steps in learning how to be humans.
Signoret is really good in this film. She portrays la femme fatale in such a simple way.
Nah but how r more people not upset abt this. As an asian American I find this very offensive. Asians r already deprived of roles n when white people r taking even less roles from minority groups it is a problem. Not to mention the amount of stereo types in this role about Asians. This is literally asian fishing, how tf did it win an Oscar.
MRS STEINMETZ!
It's hard to believe the overacting of Burt Lancaster in this movie. I'll have to read the book/script. The actress was wonderful. I loved her.
Simone gave one of the best performances ever. A deserved Oscar if there ever was one.
His accent got thicker in 'Life at the Top'. Signoret was magnificent.
