Great movie, I enjoy it every time I watch it, I have it on DVD but would love to see it shown more on TV & can't understand why movies like this are not shown more often instead of all those action films which can be violent. Glenda was perfect in this brilliant & very well written movie & I love it every time I watch it!
Glenda Jackson wasn't "known" for comedy and her role in this movie showed not only that she could do comedy, but do it tremendously well. Great performance and a well-deserved second Oscar. RIP
A very deserved Oscar. Often criticized since it didn't include the mandatory dramatic scene, nor a nervous breakdown, nor mourning, nor anything voters love. Comedy is just so much more difficult to perform well than drama.
To Jude 1871- Glenda Jackson did play Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. It was back in the late seventies if I remember correctly and it was at a theatre in Los Angeles or Westwood. I remember really wanting to go to it but those were the days before Uber and Lyft drivers and I couldn't find anyone to go with me. I'm sure she made a fantastic Martha!
Saw a review of a revival at the Doolittle Theater (now The Montalbán) in Hollywood from 1989, with Jackson, John Lithgow, Brian Kerwin and Cynthia Nixon.
Why is it so hard to find this movie anywhere, shown on TV, sold on DVD, even during the time of VHS it was a rare film to find. Did it lose its distributor and never find another one? Hardly anyone knows about this movie anymore, and it was one of the most successful comedies of the 1970s-- great box office, great reviews, Best Picture nomination, it won lots of Golden Globes. It's not some rare indy film, after all.
Glenda would have made a fantastic Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. I wish they would release more of her movies on dvd: Hedda, Stevie, and Turtle Diary.
She would have said "oregaaaano" instead of using the American pronunciation... Anyway, she's great in this film. It needs cleaning up, remastering and putting on BluRay or something.
I remember watching this and thinking how amazingly authentic she was as the lover who starts out just wanting a bit of fun with no strings attached, and then finds herself reacting like an embittered wife.George Seagul was also fantastic and so dishy! I wish they would do a re-run of this on t.v. again.
Joanne Woodward and Marsha Mason were nominated for great performances that year, as well, and while I probably would have chosen Jackson, were I one of the people voting, I would have hesitated and wanted all three to be honored.
@@giovannyespinoza6013 I don't think Burstyn deserved an Oscar either. I've never seen The Way We Were or any of the other nominated performances in that category.
This was a hugh upset. A 100-to-1 shot at the Kentucky Derby. At the time, I remember thinking this movie was a tv, situation comedy show. I can't imagine how it would hold up, now. This was hardly a stretch for Jackson's talent. Also, this was a low year for roles for women. Of those nominated, Streisand should have won. But the best performance of this year was the not nominated Julie Christie for the now classic film, "Don't Look Now". That's the way the Oscar crumbles.
very nice! do you have a video obout movie Lost and Found 1979 with director melvin frank and george segal and glenda jackson. Glenda and George with a cast leg and crutches. Do you have? Thank You!
Yes, it was a popular hairstyle at that time, early 1970's. Wonder if they were trying to make her look more like Julie Christie, and why? Go figure...

Glenda Jackson was perfect in "A Touch of Class". She's the reason I never get tired of watching this classic film.
She exudes class. She really looked her best in this movie. And taking a detour to be an MP hasn't rusted her talent, since she recently won a Tony.
Glenda Jackson was a Beautiful Women.
1936-2023
RIP
I love Glenda Jackson and I love this movie. I've seen it so many times and I never get tired of it.
her voice... i love her voice.
RIP George Segal. You had that Touch Of Class.
Love this film.
This was one of the first movies that I was taken to see when I reached a certain age! I loved it from start to finish!

It's very hard to fully appriciate this performance but I think she was brilliant and deserving.

Lovely soundtrack at 2.08 and beyond.
Difficult to believe that this is nearly 40 years ago.
what a great perfomance! Millenials, watch and learn.

Love George Segal! This was a good combination! he he
One of the reasons she won is that she has that touch of class that lifted her performance to be noticed
Joanne Woodward and Marsha Mason were nominated for great performances that year, as well, and while I probably would have chosen Jackson, were I one of the people voting, I would have hesitated and wanted all three to be honored.
RIP Glenda Jackson
A great actress and later every Tory's nightmare. RIP
Glenda Jackson deserved this Oscar!
@cats pajamas No, she didn't.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 Ellen Burstyn for The Exorcist and Barbra Streisand for The Way We Were were robbed.

The Way We Were is mushy crap and Ellen Burstyn’s screen time in The Exorcist is more worthy of supporting actress.
That is great show of love relationship Glenda makes it so so real.
I love her as an actress.
She deserved the Oscar.
Glenda Jackson was good but Ellen Burstyn was robbed.
The girl that played her daughter is LisaV from RHOBH
She's so good!
What a force!
"i'm beginning to sound like a wife!"

God, I loved Julie Christie in DLN. She was absolutely luminous.
it was best actress

QUE ERA LINDA ESA GLENDA JACKSON😍😍🌹⚘
Ms. Jackson creamed the competition that year - and boy were they pissed.
Ha ha ha
Is she wearing a wig?
Yes, it was a popular hairstyle at that time, early 1970's. Wonder if they were trying to make her look more like Julie Christie, and why? Go figure...
I read a book about her, and I recall it said she was wearing her hair cropped short at the time, and longer hair was more appropriate for the part.
Not better than ellen burstyn on the exorcist sorry
RIP Glenda Jackson
