    Those pictures remind me of the disappointing results of a 110 camera in the 1980s. The cheapo unadjustable cameras were mainly for sunny holidays. Some could be adjusted and they were marginally better I think.

    I like the top shutter speed of 1/500 of a second. You can take a perfect picture of a bullet before it hits you. Everything else is a good report. I have mine since ~ 1982.

    Don't blame 110 format and don't blame the scanner. Those pictures are just underexposed. When you're stuck with just 200 iso film and a camera with fixed shutter speed and a fixed aperture of f11, you should only use it in bright sunny days. There's no "plenty of light" in a rainy overcast day. Your eyes adapt to available light, that camera does not

    Thank you for showing the loading process! My 166B lost one of the lower screws, so the roll won't stay in place while I attach the paper to the takeup reel. I was trying to squeeze the door shut too early. I'm trying an M4x14mm screw soon.

    Your pics are much better than most of the 110 pics I see elsewhere. I used to have several Minolta 16 cameras. Essentially same size film. I got sharp but grainy images. Very nice. I don't see anything as good from the many 110 cameras on CZcams.

  • @Spuzzmacher
    @Spuzzmacher Před 4 měsíci

    lol you just got the true vintage 110 experience. Seems like /3 to 1/2 of the images of any roll wouldn't turn out. Especially on point & shoots. My dad was a pro and I'm going through his archives, and everything he shot with his nikons were consistently good, and of everything he & my mom shot with her P&S and 110 cams, about 50% are underexposed, double exposed, or overexposed trash. He just said, well yeah that's what shooting was like in those days, you never really knew what you were going to get. ...why he went digital and never looked back and thinks I'm nuts for liking film. The reasons I like 110 are: it multiplies by four all the inaccuracies, characteristics, and idiosyncrasies of 35mm film, (if I didn't want those elements, I'd just shoot digital) and because my favorite camera ever made takes it. You have to really want your images to scream lofi/glitch film, and then 110 is your baby.

    Rather than buy a $700 polaroid 680 i have my sx70 and have shot it with 600 type film, on a cloudy day with one stop under exposed it shoots fine, if you want to use it with 600 in the bright sunlight, you can purchase a $15 Pack ND filter, thats what i do, its cheaper and results are just as good.

    You can get one for less than 20 pounds in Poland or the Czech Republic. Anyway, I think crap medium format is still crap and can't compete with a decent 35mm camera.

    110 is an amazing format for the times we are in. i have scans and 8x10’s printed from 110 negatives that you could not tell apart from 35mm. its all about the quality of film you use, which with 110 means you have to handload your own rolls using 16mm motion picture stocks. its the cheapest format that exists with the same creative options as 35mm and programed auto exposure. i can shoot and develop a roll for $0.65

    This Camera only seems to be able to shoot at f11 and 1/250 Sec. (or 1/125 Sec. for slow Film Speeds) . So this will most likely only work on a sunny Day.... Also Your Pictures look very normal for a total Beginner in Film Photography... :D Back in the Days before Digital took over many Pictures from very simple Fixed focus Cameras looked like this when taken in low Light and the Camera did not adjust for that..

    Contax Shooter since 1991 here. OMG, look at your 25/2.8, pls clean the lens, and invest into a HQ filter. (hint: Zeiss T* 55mm, or original, but thicker, might cause subtile vignetting, Contax L39 55mm MC UV filter. ;) I recently added the 137 MA/MD series to my collection again, since it wasn't being needed, but it's an ideal daily driver. Usually shooting the 139Q, RTS II or 167mt.

    Now a days there is no advantage of size. But in the 70s and early 80s 35mm point and shoot cameras where more bulky. Earlier 35mm point and shoot cameras were usually zone focus or rangefinders and the lens stuck out two centimeters or more. Approximately after 1985 they started making compact auto-focus 35mm cameras. I think smaller compact 35mm cameras are what caused 110 film to lose popularity.

  • @seanperry8803
    @seanperry8803 Před 11 měsíci

    Samson, I'm a little puzzled when you say this camera can use 35mm film as there is a little red window which has to be open when winding the film on so that you can see which frame you are on and this actually appears on the "backing paper" of 120 film and 35mm does not have any backing paper so you can never see what frame you are on and having the red window open would fog the film anyway. The "Universal" version can produce 6x6cm and 6x4.5 cm negatives, but you can't use both sizes on the same film as it needs a mask inside the camera.
