Congratulations from your colleague in Germany, few rejects, very good! Katrin
Your carved mini jar is beautiful! Thanks to Danielle for encouraging you to try it 😁. Looking forward to your video about making mini one-piecers!
Is it better for bowls to cool off stacked rim to rim?
I stack them rim to rim until I sand the bottoms so the glaze inside doesn’t get scratched by the bottom of the bow on top
I’m watching from Cooperstown NY, and can’t tear myself away! But your sound is cutting in and out, starting when you did the cute little piggy. I’ve backed up, but it just isn’t there! I’m hoping you might repeat some of those details for the piggy, and for the bowls with the daisy paddles inside. Love your stuff!
Hello from Arizona
1280 degrés la cuisson ? David poterie d Alésia 👍👍
Super la cuisson 👍👍
I use a metal rib for cutting off the hump. I wet the one side of the rib that im cutting with. then push in at the same undercut joint as in your video. once the rib cuts half way through it will be sitting on the rib. it makes for transferring the pot to another board easy. Just another thing to try if your intrested:)
you can make little mini face jugs that you do!
This makes more sense to me
Thanks
Gorgeous
Anyone have a problem with them sending a wheel that doesn’t plug into 110V in United States? They sent me a 180V wheel w a 220V plug. They are not replacing it but telling me to get a transformer. WtHeck. :(
I have not heard that. I’m sorry to hear about that and I was worried that these issues might happen with a company with little to no regulation and nothing that can be done to right the wrongs.
Thanks for your reply. I have a feeling they just sent me the wrong machine and it’s not happening to others as I’ve seen good reviews on CZcams. Hoping they’ll send me a proper one for US.
Hi Matthew, thanks for these videos. Do you have any videos that show the final result of these after the glaze firing?
Thanks
WOOOOO!!!!! more MKP content!!!! mesmerizing as always good sir!
Thanks for demoing this technique!! I appreciate that your videos are actual time. Helps me see wheel speed and such.
I don’t comment often on your channel but I want to say thanks for sharing ! I enjoy your videos .
Thanks for sharing this I'm gonna give this a try. Good idea for glaze testing
Great tip Matthew! I don't like making minis for the same reason!! Do you use a groggy clay always? JW
You will often see Hsin-Chuen Lin cutting off the hump with a bit of kite string
Every time I thrown off the hump they all get S cracks.
I throw mini pots to test new glazes and glaze combos and it’s great to fit in between large pieces of pottery in the kiln. They sell really well.
Thanks for always producing awesome, informative videos. One question is if you throw off the hump, you can't compress the bottom. Does that lead to s cracks?
I had actually tried this last week but with a thicker cord type string. That didn't work well. I'm going to give fishing line a shot, that looks to work perfectly in your video.
Thank you for sharing this tip, Matthew! I look forward to seeing your approach to lidded minis as well. I woodfired minis and was quite pleased with the results!😊
Could you do that cutting technique with a large pot?
I did this for Christmas presents one year. I didn't know about the fishline trick though, and had to sand some pots afterwards. Thanks.
Having a plan for a bunch of glaze testing I thought I would make up a whole S-load of little pots like this instead of using test tiles. What I found is that it was very hard to duplicate shapes. Slight differences in the amount of clay that you pull up off the hump makes a big difference in small pots. But for glaze testing I guess they don't have to be quite the same.
Thanks for sharing! ❤
I just sighed up for pottery yesterday for a 5 wks .starts June 29 from 10:00 to 12:30. Can't wait !
Great!
Thank you for this video. Lovely bowl and explanation. I am throwing 3kgs currently, so almost at this stage. Can't wait to try it!!!
You have to consider your special needs whether you stand or sit at the wheel. Certain back conditions make standing very difficult for me. Sitting creates its own aches and pains, but standing debilitates me. So, it's sitting for me. Thanks for this video.
Really well done. Great demonstration and explanation.
A year late but THANK YOU for the two camera shots. It’s so frustrating to watch potters center or pull and have no ability to see hand placement.
Beautiful. Very helpful.
Nice. Do you let it sit a long time before separating from the bat, or do you do a wire cut pretty much at this stage? Seems like it would be quite delicate for some time.
A Green man face jug would be cool.
That's my brother in law!
Please do not copy each other, Potters
I am amazed to see such ingenuity. Well done.
What a happy fellow.😊
Don't do it. They are awful for plants. Too hard to water correctly.
Another very helpful and nice video. Thank you for what you do for the pottery community.
Kind of fun to watch, but can’t see what you’re doing. Your hands are either in the way or the shaping of the vase is done on the other side so you can’t really see what’s happening 😢
What thickness is the fishing leader you use. Can't find where it was in another video.
Added links to the description. I use the 90lb test leader wire.
@MatthewKellyPottery thank you, working on my chimney on my gas kiln, hope to have it finished and fire in a couple weeks. The hope to get to seagrove.
Nicely done, great shape ❤
