Husqvarna R216 Heavy Grass Tight Places
This video shows the Husqvarna rider's versatility, manoeuverability, performance, cut quality and mulching performance in very heavy and very tight conditions. Husqvarna has many models in it's line up from battery riders all the way up to AWD autonomous riders. When making the choice between a zero turn mower and a rider in most home owner situations (1/4 to 2 acres) the rider is by far the better choice. The rider will turn around trees, pots, garden beds, furniture etc just as easily as a zero turn but with out tearing your turf as all zero turns tend to do as they are skid to turn mowers. The rider has a steering wheel with forward and reverse pedals for easy one handed operation when needed. The rider, because of it's front mounted mowing deck, can get right under most bushes, low trees, garden tables and more with ease and with you sitting back from all the action. The rider is a family friendly machine which can be driven easily by anyone in the family with a car licence, with just a little training on it's controls and operation, as driving it is very similar to driving a car.

This video was done to show what we managed to achieve with the Husqvarna 550 EPOS robotic mower. Even though Husqvarna recommends 110 degrees of access to the sky for their mower, ie no large trees, no bushes and no sheds to go behind for the best results with their 550 EPOS, our experience has seen a much more flexible machine mowing our lawns. I cannot say the same thing about the 430x. When overcast it goes into error frequently and not resume until manual intervention.
Hi, thanks for the vid. What cutting mode/pattern did you opt for on that type of lawn? Random, straight lines or other?
This video was probably posted before the latest update. It probably didn't have systematic cutting yet
whats it like compared to a walker mower?
I my opinion just to operate it is far easier, more intuitive. It has a steering wheel and a fwd and a rev foot peddle to make it very similar to operating any standard vehicle. Nearly any one who drives could jump on, with minimal training, and just go for it. I find that for me comfort and operator ergonomics better on the Husqvarna. Also there are a lot less regular maintenance points on the Husqvarna which saves my time each day.
@@noelelliott ok thanks for your reply, im thinking of getting a second hand one low hours ,i have a zforce cub cadet side throw and need a catcher mower too,so cheers!
@@noelelliott im finding the big back on it hits alot of things and the catcher is quite brittle
so it just goes randomly like the others did with the boundary wire? Why have the RTK station then? It doesnt stripe?
No it is way more sophisticated than that. Just on the mowing pattern random is one of many. The others are parallel, checkerboard and triangle.
Thanks for making this video. Im going to be installing a 550H EPOS in my back yard that has tree coverage similar to yours, and I was worried that due to the surrounding trees it may not hold a connection, but after watching this video its made me more than confident it will work now. Thank you for posting this, and maybe I will provide an update after
Hi Jack thanks for your comments. Yes it did work beyond what was stated, by a fair margin, which was very pleasing. If it does ever stop in an area that Husqvarna says it is not guaranteed to work, this was rare in our experience, then the satellites may not be at the right position just at that particular point in time for that exact spot. No biggy just move it to the open and restart. For sure let us know what your experiences are with the new EPOS and how it performs in your situation.
@@noelelliott I installed it in my back yard and its working great so far
No more crappy music... you loose al credibility.
Informative video, at least for me anyway. Was it easy to install the epos station on the roof?
Thanks for the feedback Sean. Installing the reference station on the roof was quite easy as all I needed to do was to clamp it our existing TV aerial and then run the power cable down to an outside power point. Yes there was heaps of cable for that with lots to spare.

*push the primer 6 times and let it rip I like the saw for the price👀 **allabout.wiki/Chainsaw** used maybe 10 tanks of fuel, 6 loads of hard wood and am very pleased with it. some will say its under powered for a 20" but I like it better then a 18". I have a 18" also which is great also just like the extra 2" inches. the saw is very light also which is nice. Huskavarna owns Husqvarna so I am sure it will last. its not a sthl but still love it! I have seen some bad reviews on the saw but do not agree with them. some people told me not to waste my money but have since changed there mind. just have some common sense and cut some wood!*
Yes here in Australia Husqvarna also did away with the tool less chain adjuster just after this video was made. The rest of the chainsaw has not changed here in Oz and it remains a favourite among discerning, price conscious users who want a light weight saw for a variety of uses from just pruning to small time fire wooding.
sounds like 8 thousand dollars usd
Lithium or acid battery? Huge difference.
I HAD one of these , Only used it around 3 times ( one of those was by a tree trimmer that cut back a neighbors tree for me ) It sat in my garage for a couple years ... Then when I decided to get ALL my lawn equipment working took this to a repair shop , Then never called me to update me on there progress... every time I called them they gave a different excuse 1st they couldn’t figure out 2nd carburetor next a gasket .. finally they OVER CHARGED ( as far as I was concerned) so I thought I’d just BUY ANOTHER ONE FROM LOWES .... NOW LOWES does NOT have them in stock ... and doesn’t know when they will again , they told me to buy on there web site . I TRIED to do that but ( unavailable and don’t know when or if , THEY ARE SAYING ITS A POPULAR ITEM SO WHATS THE PROBLEM ( oh last I heard it was a SHIPPING ISSUE ) because of COVID 🤔
Ok .nice little saw. .
Yeah great second saw for fire wooding, it punches well above its weight out in the bush.
Just got the 440e and it runs good..but the speed isn't much...it's good for smaller projects...if u want a good powerful husky..get the xp series
It's a lawn vacuum cleaner
Yes it was quite the supprise. Since this video we have demoed the Rider Collect in some very heavy conditions. The worst was at a government sponsored pasture trial. The grass they needed to collect and weigh was very thick and between 300mm and 400mm high. I cant say the mower handled it with ease because it didn't as it was damn hard work but it did do the job as we drove it very slow so everything could keep up. The lush pasture grass we were collecting was long, tough, heavy and quite wet but the Rider Collect ran rings around the other machine they were trying to use.

Hello, how satisfied are you with the chain lubrication of the Husqvarna 450?
Hi Tomislav sorry we missed your comment when it came in. Anyhow to answer your question we use only genuine Husqvarna chain and bar oil and we find that the 450 chain lubrication system works extremely well. The timber we cut here in Australia for firewood is very hard and very dry and the 450 handles it with ease.
Impressive saw! Thanks for putting this out there. Have a good day
Great saw that really puts out in the bush when you are going hard to get as much done in a day as possible. Be that as professional fallers or the weekend warriors getting firewood to keep their family warm over winter. Thumbs up for your CZcams channel as well.
Yes and awesome to use in big timber. This mismatch in machine and timber was just for giggles.
This battery rider had lead acid batteries for its power source. These did have some weight and long term life expectancy concerns when used infrequently. I believe they are working on the next gen with lithium ion batteries.
There is new hybrid rider with Li-Ion batteries, but it is 500 series, so it is BIG and expensive rider for professionals... Remember, that Li-Ion batteries are expensive, so battery only rider witth Li-Ion batteries will be very expensive too... :/
I love mine too, they definitely punch well above their weight division.
is Husqvarna still making this mower
this is very good machine! What wood species is it? Is it hard or soft wood? 16 sec is a good result!
Hi Alexey. The timber we are cutting there is Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) an Australian hardwood. The log we used in the video had been dead for many many years and was recovered from a local farmers paddock, so well seasoned and extra hard. Jarrah is an excellent firewood timber, tough and strong long lasting construction timber and a very beautiful furniture timber.
I like my 440

What size bar is on this? Can it use a bigger bar?
Hi WC the bar used on that saw was a 16" bar cutting an 18" log. As you can see it did it quite well and only cutting from one side. Can you fit a longer bar? Yes. Is it advisable to fit a longer bar? No. This is a small 40cc chainsaw that has been built as a light weight all purpose saw with its optimum bar length at 16". If you go bigger than this you will take too much of the available power away from cutting and put it towards driving the extra length of chain around a much longer bar. By doing this performance and operator satisfaction are both affected negatively.
Looks like a great saw. I purchased the 562xp last year, I was wondering why this bigger saw was a little cheaper? Keep up the great content. Thanks :)
Hi madrx2. Great question. This saw is aimed at the semi professional user like farmers, fencing contractors, firewood collectors etc. It is not an "XP" saw. All the XP saws are designed and built the be used hard ALL day every day. The 562XP, for example is a great saw with excellent power to weight ratio. It has been built to more exacting specifications, finer tolerances, better balancing of all moving parts and more. It is like taking a super street car and turning it into a competitive race car, everything is tricked up and taken to the next level. You will be able to see that when we load the next video on the 572XP cutting the same log immediately afterwards. The 572XP looks the same, except for a bigger air filter, is seemingly the same engine and other components but performs at lot better, near 20% in our trial.
@@noelelliott Thankyou for your great in-depth reply. Really appreciate it. It must be fun getting to play around with all these great new tool. All the best.
@@noelelliott If the XPs are built to finer tolerances then why does the engine components on the 565 and 572xp share the same part numbers?
@@johnwalt3504 Aah yes great question. The piston (and many other parts) are the same but important bits like the cylinder, crankcase assy, carburetor, air filter, ignition module etc are different making the 572XP an "XP" model chainsaw.

Which batteries were you using? How many watt hours per battery?
I was using the BLi200 batteries which are 5.2 Ahrs and 180 Whrs. Husqvarna now have a BLi300, just released, which is 9.4 Ahrs and 335 Whrs. If I had of used this model battery I could have done the whole job on a single battery.
A 335 Wh should cut an impressive amount. I use about 500 Wh to cut a pickup load. I use a little more that two sets of Makita's which are 216 hrs per set. Makita uses a set of 2 small tool batteries. Two 335 Wh batteries would cut a hell of load.HUSQVARNA is a good brand.
@@geraldmoore6257 Hi That is an excellent comparison and good feedback, thanks.
this has convinced me to look very seriously at a HUSKY battery saw. I have a NEW husky book with everything they make it in, picked it up at a dealer just a couple weeks ago. I'll tell them you sent me.
Hi Ben, yes the videos that we do are to show exactly how good the Husqvarna machinery is and what it is capable of. Just telling someone what a machine does is one thing but when they see it actually doing it it brings a whole new dimension to the product. Yes definitely mention us, we do know a lot of other Husqvarna dealers around Oz.
The wood must be hard because there is nothing extra
Yes our Australian hardwoods are amongst the hardest in the world
Considering how tough our Aussie hardwood is and especially when its seasoned a few years, that battery powered Husqvarna did well
G'day Peter yes it did and even I, being a petrol saw pro from way further back than I care remember, was more than impressed. So much so it is now my go to saw for those small and sometimes medium jobs that just need doing. No more fuel mixes, ever, no stale fuel dramas, no engine servicing with its associated costs, no prolonged start up procedures and yeah I could go on but you get the point. long term just a great investment.
Yup starting to feel good. I have a couple of Stihls which are bulletproof but I'm getting too old to crank the big one over even with compression pressure relief on... Hence the large battery Husqvarna maybe the goods for me.
what kind of tree hard or soft wood
Hi the wood is Australian Jarrah which is a native to the south west of Australia and it is a hardwood, a very hard wood
*Love this chainsaw!==>**ur2.pl/761** Just bought a new house and I didn’t want to get anything gas powered. It has quite a bit of power to it and is easy to use. I love that I don’t have to worry about gas. Just put oil in it and go! It’s lightweight too!*
*Friend loves it and it works great>>>**ur2.pl/725** It is def. a workhorse. Not for the ladies. It is heavy.*
*I love this saw!>>>**ur2.pl/722** Cuts like a champ and starts up every time. It's easy to maintain and is a workhorse on my property. Vibration is so low on this saw, it's comfortable to cut for long periods of time. It is well balanced and lightweight for a 60cc saw. Be sure you use ethanol free 50:1 fuel oil mixture only. I also use the Husqvarna bar & chain oil and I like it a lot. The only drawback is the included chain. Get yourself a full skip chain and lose the safety chain Husqvarna provides. You will be glad you did.*
i thought the 440 was a 40cc saw
*Great saw>>>**ur2.pl/725** I have cut 6 cords worth of wood with it so far without any major issue. I would recommend using Ethanol Fuel Treatment & Stabilizer with this chainsaw. Also avoid servicing with the brake on as it will be a pain to unlock the brake to get the cover back on.*
wood also looked pretty dry which slows things down. try a shorter bar/chain
Hi 0x00zero the longer bar was just for giggles but let me address your comment on the slow cutting speed. The video was done to show that having a big chainsaw is not the way to go in smaller sized timber. Let me explain. The slow cutting speed comes from the fact that the 3120XP has a rev limiter so it cannot over rev. What this means is that the max chain speed is limited ie it just wont scream out like other saws when the load is a lot lighter than it is designed to handle. Also the 3120XP runs a 0.404in saw chain which means it has approx 20% less cutting teeth per foot of chain than a 0.325 chain does. So therefore when you multiply the slower chain speed and less cutters per foot together and cut a small log which doesn't require just raw power to pull the chain through at max rpm you cannot help but to get a slower cutting speed. Check out the two videos at czcams.com/play/PL_VIr09L3-8TlPUxc0MeIkzeEfrvMYn8b.html and you will see that in a bigger log, 650mm, that the 3120XP is nearly 30% faster than the 395XP (the second biggest Husqvarna chainsaw). Also we did test cuts in the bigger log (video not uploaded) that you see in those videos and the 395XP was a good 45 secs slower in the 900mm log than the 3120XP for only just one cut. This is where the sheer power of the 3120XP come into its own. I hope this clarifies a few things for you.
The sped up video makes it impossible to compare to petrol. Shame!
Hi Thanks for the feedback. We are looking into reloading the video with a couple more normal speed sections.
