I have been "with" you for over 7 years!! I remember these "old" videos--the pedestal one I remember watching a few times over. I believe that #2 was the first time I was brave enough to comment. (now you can't shut me up!) I agree that there is a variety of videos (something for everyone) but I especially liked the "instructional" ones, where you John, are the teacher. More recently, as you've semi-retired, I found that I enjoyed the relaxing aspect of watching an arrangement come to life--you've gone a bit more therapeutic now, saying, "enjoy" the process. I find it fun that I've been around a while. No wonder I'm your biggest fan!

This is really brilliant! I've seen each of these (at least once) and while I might not have selected them exactly, the top 3 would definitely been "in place". As I've commented previously, I love large and heavily floral designs, John, and you do them as well as anyone I've observed. Thanks for this, and continued best wishes to you, Janos, and all.

This is so beautiful. I like how you grouped all the pins in one corner. I like doing that and adding rocks on the opposite corner like you do.

I LOVE this design: It calls me out by name! (Immediate subscriber!) I was thinking since it would be hard to find these delicate flowers, foliage, and grasses in stores, if you have a yard, be sure to grow these somewhere on your property so you have them to use in your arrangements! The only thing missing in this video is the names of ALL the plants used so we could grow our own. I learned a lot today; will watch again and again. Thank you so much: This video made my day! ❤

Wow, I really love this one. I wish I could see it in person! What a joy to watch this video! One of my all-time favorites are the grasses. I love the movement that gives dynamic. It's beautiful how you give direction with some of the stems to move the eye through the arrangement. After watching your videos, I look at grasses and wild flowers/weeds in a different way and appreciate them more. I've never seen the smoke bush, pretty. Separating the foliage in some spots gave nice contrast. When you turned the arrangement on the lazy susan, the September flowers looked like some sort of sweet, white-winged insects/creatures flying around. The allium seed heads are one of my favorites, too. The sweet William peeking out from under the hosta leaf is lovely. Thank you for your videos. :-)

I can see that the extra gladioli shouldn't be required. The reason because the very top of a sheaf is sharp like the top of a triangle. In fact, funeral sheaf is a front face bouquet, only for front viewing. The whole shape is a slim triangle and increases height of the blooms starting from half of the triangle below down. That means the most largest blooms are placed in the bottom base as focal point. The top should have only single contents.

This video was so informative and especially using the crossing twigs. It is much harder to do than one would imagine and it was wonderful to see a technique to keep cutting until it fits! I think one of the great mysteries of ikebana is knowing which branches/flowers should be removed. Are there any guidelines or rules for this that you could share? Actually, you could do an entire video on this subject! Thank you for explaining the rationale of why you place the flower/branches where you do. It is very informative and helps when trying to apply this technique…a great verbal guideline.
