Agree. Although my 10 year old self was just happy I could beat a game besides Super Mario World. So, even though CV IV was kind too easy compared to CV I, back then I was just thrilled it was something I could actually do. As opposed to most of game collection that I got frustrated with and walked away from. For reference: I got Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Battletoads, Gameboy CV, Punch Out, Mega Man 2, and a few others and I Couldn't Fuckin Beat ANY of Them!!!!! Luckily I did have Final Fantasy II and IV and Chrono Trigger that I actually could beat the game. And this one, Castlevania IV. So yeah, maybe the whip was overpowered and made the items pointless, but I was kinda happy I had a good whip and I could do the thing. Now, playing games as an adult, I can actually win against most of the games I couldn't as a kid. But, I am glad my kid self had Castlevania IV. Even if it was the devs throwing us a lifeline of beat-ability.

So you're basically just impatient and don't know how to get immersed in a game then? A lot of these arguments feel very personal Arin, just because you didn't feel like you were going on an adventure doesn't mean that others can't. It's clear from your various GG playthroughs that you don't care about a games story and purely adhere to gameplay which is fine...but when you're dogging on the game for having a bad sense of adventure whilst simultaneously breezing through it and not caring as to what NPCs have to say or what world building the game does for you and segments where you're supposed to fill in the blanks yourself... You come across as ignorant. It's not the games fault that you're impatient or the games fault that you don't listen; it's yours. Linearity isn't a bad thing but you fail to mention that with the acception of the forest temple, you can do the others in any order. The game isn't boring and lacks adventure for having one solution, because it doesn't. I bet you didn't know you could use the fire and ice arrows respectively to interrupt Kome and Kotake's charge attacks? You don't even bother trying anything different, and you complain that everything is handed to you on a plate? As for the puzzles...yes, looking around the room for a "thing to whack" is a puzzle. You have to think retrospectively Arin, when the game first released nobody was used to being in a 3D space, going from topdown to 3D is intimidating. Nobody would think to look around the room in a 3D space to find a hidden gem to shoot, because were so used to everything being easily laid out on a 2D plane and visible from the moment you enter a room. Sure looking back it does seem easy but that's the same for any kind of puzzle, once you know the solution it becomes easy. You cannot complain that the puzzles are too easy when you're looking at the game not from a retrospective POV but a critical, modern perspective. You don't appreciate what the game was trying to do and instead complain about it, which comes across as you having a lack of patience in not immediately knowing the answer

They cant all be bangers. This wasnt terrible but the only set up here is arin telling us the concept ahead of the animation. This might be some high quality stuff on newgrounds but i couldnt see this being a series if this is the writing and animation
