how many beers did it take?
Do you have one for sale?
I have the same bike .change mine up
That chain came apart way easier than I've ever had to do it. Maybe it's because I'm wrong with the cheapest of the cheap tools.
Después de 10 años lo he aprendido, gracias
Thanks for posting this. I need to widen an old Varsity to 100mm. It's currently at 92, not sure what the factory spec says it is supposed to be. Your video gives me the courage to try it.
Hey Thank you for sharing information about fat tires bike. Please please help me with this quicl question. I live in Toronto area (north york area)and want to buy a ebike for everyday commute to the university but I am scared that I may not be able to ride that because of thin ice/ black ice as it may not getbthe right friction. Please let me know if fat tire bike would be a right tool to deal with the Toronto winters. I am unfamiliar with the winter conditions here and your reply could help me take an informed decision. Thank you again
I think it's ugly.
DILLINGER FOUR!
How does this end up handling? the head tube angle looks way way less steep than stock, did you put bigger tires on it?
Rotary wire brush on mains drill is way faster and cheaper. After that Dremmel tool on small awkward sections.
Whoa whoa whoa. Mask up if you're sanding. Geez.
how long did the paint last
maybe a bit late but im new toi carbon fork changes.. do these come with spacers or do you have to make these yourself from a wider carbon tube?
My plan is to lightly sand the previous paint, tape the stuff i don't want paint and spray. I'm guessing about 15 minutes total. I don't care if the paint lasts forever. Change my mind. But honestly I'm hoping for constructive criticism. Thank you.
My old man has been catching carp to just under 40lb from this lake since the 80s, the guys who still fish the lake can't fish between 11am-4pm because of the rowing boats, so early evenings and nights only. But its a really tricky shallow lake 1-1.5metres deep so constant hassle from diving birds, so my bloke does nights and off 1-2 hours into first light.
Thank you!
why didn't you use the stripper wheel for the whole bike? Minus the tricky spots of course
what is the difference with HARDROCK PRO?..
I like the idea Just not on a Colnago frame, that's what some would consider blasphemy
what BCD?
So you rebranded the frame? Norco/ into a canyon?
is that fork 25.4 st like for classic standard frame can fit??
Nice video
you saved my day big man
Lol, Canadian Tire bike gets converted into Colnago, love it!
Not sanding it after the primer?
I have a 3900 similar to this one and it was a roadside find.
Good ideas about spraying all the hard to reach bits first, and the using a torch to spot any under painted areas
2000 years later... 😄
I like the simplicity of this bike. A quick clean up compared to multi-cog drivetrains. I'm gonna build a single speed one of these days. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
What can I choose carbon fork maximum 700x35 or maximum 700x38 For my hybrid bike 700x35 What is your opinion ? Thanks
My single speed is very similarly set up. It had 46 17 gearing for about a year and I had to learn to get comfortable at lower cadence but I would still rarely get to my happy spot. I went for 42 17 recently so quite similar to your ratio. Gravel single speeds are my favorite kind of bikes, I found it to be the most fun and best suited for my area. Anyway, I like your build as it is simple and versatile. Very nice.
Very fine job, Sir! I've never ridden a Trek MTB. Is it a smooth or harsh ride? Would love to find one and turn it into a 1X as you did. ✌✌
why would you put colnago dekals into that?
Very nice you have done a nice upgrade there, i ride a TREK 6000 MTB which i enjoy riding often 👍 Au
The purchase link please.
How much are these bikes I can’t find one like this
If you use like 200 grit sandpaper before using the paint stripper, the paint may come off a little easier
it chain off easily or not.. or depends on your setups
any updates on the fork? how is it holding up?
R.i.p.
In a little over a year, if the bike is used, it will start to peel, despite having done the right process and using good products. Nowadays, after three years of this video, surely if the bike was used, it must have had to be repainted or it must be quite chipped. Spray painting is just wasting time and money.
it is truly good work! i have the same bike, can you link me to buy wheels? i m afraid order that dosent fit. please
You surely need to plug/tape off the BB, head tube, seat tube, bottle cage mounts etc to stop paint getting into the threads and any press fit openings for cups etc? I have an old (mid 2000's) GT Aggressor I've turned into a brilliant "gravel" bike but the paintwork is pretty shabby so might give it a freshen up....
What kind of primer did you use?
Why respray the paint job that was original ?
no way is it going to shift better than shimano
NO need to prime...IF.. you're not going to bare metal and the original paint was roughed up well
My head is on tight. i have the orange one. I need to replace it. I have another head that'll fit
Everything functions properly czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of CZcams. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
