I truly don't understand the deep desire to fight and die for the ability to simply be above another race. This is not close to the same but it is similar. I live in Arizona. Before 9/11 my grandparents paid a Mexican worker who would drive up from Mexico once per week to landscape our property because he was good and cheaper than local companies. After 9/11 when various things changed and he needed to actually get a work visa and such (I was still too young to know the full details and I've never gone back and checked all the laws that changed) my grandparents proceeded to pay him substantially more to pay for additional expenses and to keep it profitable for him to keep driving up every week. Slaves were virtually free labor. All "equality" of the time would have done was made the planter class have to actually pay workers wages, and they could have been stupid cheap wages still as shown during the jim crow south (not promoting jim crow, simply showing an example of the virtual continuation of slavery post war). Racism doesn't make sence to me anyway, but the idea of sending white men to die over the right to keep black people subjegated simply to save a few labor dollars is BAFFLING to me

So many people forget the wisdom of the phrase, "The past is a foreign country." The Confederacy had some insane, screwed up views on slavery, even unique amongst slave societies since previous slave societies had seen slavery based on a totally different hierarchical system. Western civilization was going through a revolution in the 19th century, tied to the Enlightenment from the 18th century and the Great Awakening of the early 19th. Slavery, as a concept, was doomed.

Excellent from every point of view!!! Something made with a wonderful mix of passion, intelligence and resourceful craftmanship. To make something this good with probably less than the daily catering budget of a big-shot production is an amazing achievement.

Between the light saber and lord of the rings references. It’s like ya took the old channel awesome movie ideas of internet video making and gave it an actual purpose. It’s been a fun ride watching these video. Can’t wait to see what else comes next.

Extremely funny, incredibly informative, earnestly made from top to bottom, even occasionally deep in what it says about American political and historical culture (messages deeply needed in this age of uncertain times.) I mean.....its just excellent. I have no notes. This whole series did not need to go as hard as it did. Making this ultimately about the "Redemption" of Johnny Reb does, on a surface level, feel... off. On further thought though, it's the only ending that would matter. The scourge in the land today, despite everyone having access to the accumulated knowledge of hundreds of not thousands of Libraries of Alexandria in their pockets, is... Willful ignorance. Andrew, this was all a lot of fun and incredibly well researched. Best to you on your further journeys. Next time though... Let's get some Star Trek up in here too. 😂
