Everybody knows STIHL still is the best saw.
👍🆙OW
Joe, it appears that your air cleaner on your splitter is loose. Maybe it just looks like it in the video. Great video.
Unless you spend huge money, firewood will always be lots of work but having the right tools makes it more enjoyable for sure.
Mornin
Thanks!
😉🤣😁😆 oh my gosh! THANK YOU! Tremendous mix of emotions!
Just downloaded the book.
Great addition to an already sweet saw👍🏻
@@aaronpowell4885 love it for firewood. Reminds me, I need to do a bundling video. My wife has used it more than I have so I better get trained first 😉
Hello from the Navajo nation..good to see an operator wearing proper PPE...good video
I appreciate that but you may wanna not check out some of my other videos. 😉 I should wear it all the time but do not always. I must say, I was actually injured due to my chaps getting caught in the brush recently. Almost impaled on a stick. Stay safe and appreciate you watching!
Thanks!
WOW! I really appreciate that! You are the very first person to have ever done that and that is a tremendous blessing for me. Honestly am blown away!
@@oakiewoodsman You should make it a point to ask for support to allow you to continue bringing good content. Mr. Beast is rich for providing useless utility to people. You should look to get paid for actually bringing real benefit. There should be no shame in asking for money when you provide a service of value. That is Capitalism 101 after all.
I appreciate that but I hope that if I am truly offering utility, people will do as you did. I do not want to sound desperate. I have been blessed thus far and pray for provision because I really enjoy this stuff. One of the hardest most time consuming things I have ever pursued.
@@oakiewoodsman You should read Wealth of Nations and read some Milton Friedman. I think that will help free your perspective on asking for money. There is so much shameless plugging for mind rotting nonsense, might as well get paid for adding benefit. I digress I will respect your personal beliefs, and tip you here and there.
@AnonbinArymouse screen shot taken so I can check it out. I just know some viewers will not appreciate it and think of it only as a money grab all the while, they are unaware of the costs of operating and producing content. I am super thankful however because I incurred some debt about a year ago for the channel and I am going to have it licked here VERY shortly.
I have a Super Dave Outdoors Echo 7310p ported chainsaw. It is a beauty. Sounds like a race kart and cuts so smooth!
you are the one that ordered it recently right? So glad you got it and love it! I am a bit jealous of ya to be honest with ya!
@@oakiewoodsman That is correct sir. Fortunately you highlighted Super Dave’s chainsaw prowess.
I am so glad it worked out well. He is a very through guy and really takes pride in his work. I actually have a package at home from him right now but I am VERY tied up ATM so I haven't been able to get into it just yet. Thank you so much and I appreciate your gift to the channel!
Sweet!
Thanks sir!
If they are considered "Orthopedic" ? My heath insurance will pay for a big chunk of the price . 14 5E double depth .
Interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Your chains are all dull or useless They need proper sharpening As they seem a little slow and dragging a bit, I still think my 394 would put them all to shame, It's only 30 years old and still running,
Thanks for sharing
👍🆙OW
You are appreciated man!
@@oakiewoodsman 👊
Sounds great and it's a comfortable saw with plenty of pull🪓🌲🤘🏻
100% agree! Thanks for watching!
I use my Stihl ms880 for cutting fire wood not a husky man more a Stihl man but nice sounding saw
Do you only cut big wood? Wouldn’t a 440/460 or a 660/661 suffice 😂
👌🏻🤘🏼🤘🏼
appreciated and thanks or watching!
It’s close enough that any of them would work for me.
Hey, that is sure one way of looking at it. It really depends on feel at that point doesn't it? Or maybe price? Where would the deciding factor be for you?
That sweet sound!
Glorious noises for sure!
❤ it 👍🏻
Thank you sir!
Great video and comparison👍🏻 Thank goodness for the second camera! The way I see that style of internal baffle, it's there to retain heat in an attempt at reducing emissions and as an added bonus for the OEM, it somewhat reduces noise.
👊
Thank you AP. Do you have any interpretation of the results? Do you think anything can be learned from this video. Interesting that someone had mentioned that the stock setup initially has great performance and declines as the heat builds up. It seems as if in a couple of results recently that the first cut with baffles performed well but would decline with each subsequent cut. Appreciate you sir
@oakiewoodsman I think the OEMs know what they're doing and do the best they can with the EPA, CARB, etc looking over their shoulder.
@aaronpowell4885 thanks man
Good stuff and sounds great also!
Thank you buddy. I like how it sounds and it is really nice and blippy!
👍👍 my limited experience, a huge hole right in the front of a can may make a difference on low end, but most folks don’t do that. Big pipes or outlets in a can, just going to run better. If you want to test that theory- run it again with no cover- stock baffled one and the one with the baffle removed. You will probably find it’s more peaky with the gutted one- that’s just an extreme example which would t be far off from a huge hole right in the front.
Agreed!
👍
Where do the benefits stop and why? For example, what happens when you run ZERO muffler or for example, if you had a 1" OD pipe with flange on it and extended it only 1.5 inches from the exhaust port? Where do the returns start and stop? Interesting stuff
👍🆙OW
Thank you Chainsaw DR!
Good comparison video! muffler covers and inner muffler mods can play a night and day difference on stock or ported all depends though., so many variables at play. Good comparison is my ported 026 vs buddies ported 026, both are ported differently but funny thing is his saw runs a stock old school 4 hole 026 muffler cover perfectly fine but same cover on mine is way to restrictive but yet my style of a modded outter muffler cover on his saw makes it a dog. So just saying not all works good for everything especially once getting into the ported side
Very interesting concept. This is where a builder know the right formula for their style of porting really makes a difference. It seems it is the whole package, not just bits and pieces of the package that matter. IPS has been doing a couple different saws for customers that want a bit more power but need the saw to stay quieter due to the type of work they are doing. Interesting concept. This is a deep rabbit hole one can go down. Thank you again!
It's not a blade it's a chain that's why they call them chainsaw if it a blade they would call them a blade saw
you dont have to tell me hahaha... these people that are telling me I am blunt or dull on my blade. Thanks for watching and commenting!
👍👍 sounds really good.
Pretty much my favorite.... thank you CF!
Looked like having a second camera saved the day. I really need to start doing that.
100% did. I would have truly lost a video I could not/did not want to try to reproduce. You can only thread in and out of the cylinder so many times. I am not wanting to keep tearing stuff down if need be.
@@oakiewoodsman I don't blame you
Great video Mr Joe.
Thank you Mike!
👍🆙OW
👍🏻Doc
Thank you sir. Do you have any interpretation of the results here?
@@oakiewoodsman A rabbit hole indeed! At this stage hands on I'm just going 4 the best flow in and out mainly w/o just hogging everything out 2 the max just smooth flow, but I do plan on having something 2 experiment w/ soon
very cool!
@@oakiewoodsman Y'all have a good weekend!
First 🙏🏿🇺🇸🪓
thanks buddy!
Hey Oakie, great comparison vid 👍👍. I take the baffles out of my Stihls - I've never run before and after timed cuts but just can't imagine how choking off the exhaust flow would be better...
👊
I hear ya on that. It is amazing how much sound changes by removing that simple little VERY OPEN baffle. Pretty crazy really! Thank you sir!
Chaps ?
I recommend em for sure, especially while working. Thanks or sharing!
All I see is a sharp chain on a bar. Where's the dull blade at?
That is the point. This saw was untouched from another video where everyone said it was dull because a ported ECHO 620 beat it and a larger CC STIHL saw. 100s of comments saying the chains are dull
Hey Joe. 👋 good show. See ya in a couple weeks.
I hope you enjoy yourself. I saw you were down in the States! Have fun and be safe friend.
Enjoy your day.
I sure will! I hope you have a nice weekend yourself. Enjoy the time and be safe. Thanks for watching!
In a 461 removing the baffle and tuning the carb makes them feel like a different saw. Havent built a 460 but i would take that baffle out too. Logic says it is just there to slow exhaust down so there may be more exhaust retained in the cylinder or more time to let unburnt gasses finish combusting so the hydrocarbon emissions are slightly less.
👍🆙SD
Well said Dave👍🏻
Is there any truth to a bit of back pressure allowing for a different kind of power curve? The baffle seemed some small I didn't think it would really do much at all. wondering how much the screen impedes the flow at this point. I like running em cause I used to noticed at dusk running my old 372 clones, they would periodically have a small spark come out of the exhaust.
Mornin
Thank you sir! I always appreciate you being here bright and early and watching. Hope you are well!
@@oakiewoodsman hot but well 🤪
i understand that!
Funny how the echo was spitting chips the other saws only dust try the same chain see how they go
Thanks for watching
Saw suppliers is the best place for echo. Bought my 501p, 620pw, and my 9010 blower from them.
Super cool that you shared that! I do not remember that being the case at all. Thanks for watching once again sir!
Need to be sharpen again 😢😢
a part of using a chainsaw. Thanks or watching
The only other person I have seen climb with a bucksqueeze 👍 keep it up brother
only cause it is what I have but I figure, why not!? There is certainly limitations with it and it certainly helps when the tree is shaped like a pole. I really am interested in more traditional and advanced Tree climbing methods. Flip line and ropes with ascenders and all that. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
The small driver .325 chain seems to have been developed specifically with climbing in mind to provide the least possible resistance when in the wood. My brother has the 5 series Husqvarna top handle and that thing is a beast with the factory small driver .325 and spins around 15k.
Wow! That would be an absolute ripper indeed! I cannot wait to get a little more work into this saw ASAP and I am thinking it is going to get sent out for porting shortly.
