    Bubble "insulation" has nearly no insulating value. If air leakage is the issue try an air barrier sheet that passes water vapor like Intello. For a real fix you need a layer of proper insulation under the floor. Roxul comfortboard or foam board could do that.

  • @mindaugasvaskevicius1818

    Money well wasted. Insulation nothing basically. Maybe draft some proofing. Aluminium foil.... Doesn't work if you put something on it.

    Hello again, nice video ! I am fortunate to have retried last year but as it happens , since then the DIY jobs are getting bigger .Sadly to my illness at the moment , my hand tools are living in a damp environment and show for it. I invested years ago in a good bench grinder from Record power and as I did wood turning a lot it paid to get all my gauges crisp and sharp .

    Scrapers are the best at what they do when you are good at using them, but not suited for surfaces that need to be real flat. Also if your fingers tingle, wear one or more sets of gloves if you can't replace the tool. My middle finger has a dead spot from my bike's brake lever (I think) and it's super annoying.

    Question though: Several websites ( webshops ) recommend a rectangular sander for larger surfaces ( I don't know the word in English ) and you should sand with/along the grain; somethings orbit sanders don't do at all. I need something prosumer to refinish my wooden front- and back door and windows ( they're oiled, but it has been years ). So... what do I use for that then? I'm confused... ( Had my eye on a Makita LTX 18v sander, now I'm not sure... )

    Few tips... I use a Milwaukee shop vac... it'll suck the balls off a "brass monkey" (look that one up) and It takes a "Haper style" bag MERV 8~10... I have to use a Tac cloth to get it cleaner. I also pre-treat my surfaces... Use to use a surface prep liquid... But now, I just pre-spray a mix of Baking Soda and a little vinegar...let it sit a few then wipe off and let dry. That cleans the wood, removes oils and opens the woods pores. First pass 80~100 grit...You'd be surprised...🖖🐝💪👍🐸

    do you need permits to build something like that? In Alberta Canada (where I live) that would not be allowed without proper plans (engineered) and permits. We recently completed a garden shed & 8'X12" by 10' h was the largest I could build without permits (110 sq ft) Still great to see what others are doing in other parts of the world

    So if you have a sled for your table saw, you could just put your five holes in that and have one less board lying around the shop. This one might give you a little more freedom in how you can move the work piece, though. This kind of makes the router table a jig which is nice. You can literally clamp or tape any shape to it to hold the work piece for repeatable cuts. If you have some wall space you could just hinge that board to the wall and fold it out when you need the routing table. It could also be a folding outfeed table for your table saw. One thing that would make life better with that would be one of those cheap foot switches so you don't have to get under the table to turn it on and off. It is amazing how inspirational something this simple can be.

    I love sanding, it's an art. Especially by hand without an electric sander... Understanding sanding, you have to feel, watch, listen apply the right pressure, use the proper backing ( hard or soft) to what the sandpaper is doing, depending on what the characteristics of the wood . And the quality and brand of sandpaper needs to be learned too. Some are good some are bad. Sanding definitely is a learning process I rarely throw out used sandpaper because as the grit wears down it becomes less abrasive it can be used as a "smoothing" the surface depending on what needs to be done.

  • @MrSubstanz
    @MrSubstanz Před 13 dny

    You should use the extra felt discs recommended for mesh. Otherwise the hooks of your velcro will wear down over time and you'll have to get a new grinding plate (might not be the proper name). And if you want to use an actual modern sander, why not go with one with a brushless motor? There's some actual modern technology in there. Also a comparison in weight may make the difference between Makita and Black & Decker. If Random orbital sander is heavier, no wonder it takes fewer passes to finish the job.

    Pro tip to anyone attempting sanding their table down. Ensure you know whether it’s veneered or solid timber. It’s very easy to sand straight through modern veneers as they are so thin, if you do that you are in a whole heap of trouble.
