All it really took is the FIA breaking their own rules. I like max. I think he’s probably the best driver formula one has seen behind senna on raw talent. But Lewis was screwed out of the 8th.

I recall Jenson Button had the best take. Max drove better for most of the year. Hamilton drove better at Abu Dhabi. Max deserved the title, and Hamilton deserved the race win for Abu Dhabi. Max literally finished 1st or 2nd at every single race. Meanwhile Lewis had several mediocre drives. If it weren't for being crashed into by Bottas and Hamilton at Hungary, and Silverstone, Max would have won. Had Max's tire not blown up at Baku, he would have won. Had Hamilton not be saved by the red flag at Imola, Max would have won. You could argue that had Hamilton not messed up his brakes at Baku, he would have won, yes but that was his own fault and mistake.

I watched this expecting Mario KART scoring. Was so happy at the end when it was even better.

I keep saying, the only thing that barely masks the NASCAR Playoff system being utterly broken (aside from Matt Crafton literally breaking the Playoff system by winning a championship without winning a race) is the fact sponsors (and probably TV) mandate the full field/respective drivers start the race, instead of only 16 cars, 12, then 8, then 4 in those respective elimination brackets.

I would be interested in seeing what the short track ice skating points system would do. 34-21-13-8-5-3-2-1 points, based on finish position. Probably wouldn't result in massive shifts, but finishing high is rewarded more than consistency here...

Would love to see this ELO system applied to teams to see which teams have been the greatest of all time.

What if for NASCAR points, only regular season scoring for the entire season was considered or even the Winston Cup format? It just feels like such bullshit with the Playoffs even in an alternative timeline where Sir Lewis wins instead of Max, it would be unfair to Max and vice versa (though tbf that goes for NASCAR and other motorsports in general because of how bullshit and fundamentally flawed the entire format is)

in fact, a system that does not take into account the results of all races is extremely unfair. if the results of all the races had been taken into account, then there would have been no fight for the title in 1988 and 1989, and there would have been no question of whether Prost was better than Senna, there would have been an obvious answer: prost is better. as a racer, Prost was always better than Senna. as a person and character for advertising, Senna is definitely better.

EEL kinda looks like Trackmania's Cup of the day, where after a qualifying phase they start playoffs with 64 racers, and bottom 4/2/1 are eliminated each round until there are only 2 left Also missed opportunity in the Mario system to give points to racers who cause crashes involving others.
