Wish you and pat would make more videos like this! They help a whole lot.
What is the know your using for the Anchor clip ? that looks much better that a standard knot
This video turned me hip to Ducharm's birds. He even shared the pattern to with me so I could carve one. I very much appreciated that, Pat, thank you
HOW DO I ACQUIRE A SET OF THE METAL FEATHER STAMPS LIKE BEN SCHMIDT USED? THANK YOU RORY
Excellent Video. Very well presented and informative. Thanks Pat, Daniel
Love this video, watched it many times. Can u please make a video on how you whip the ends. I currently always refer to the scaffold knot for my ends
Thanks for your videos! in the background of this there is a double sander which appears to have pneumatic sanding tubes. I cant make out the mfg and wonder if you will share it with me
Good job Bruce!
Where are you & do you do workshops?
Wow that's what I call a long range goose guns! And I thought my 10GA guns were big!!!
What blade do you use? Width and tpi?
Looks like a great show. Do they still have it going on 2022?
What knot for the loop on your dropper to the swivel, and to the decoy direct do you use? I know you called it a bowline, but doesn't look like one? It has the tag end parallel with the main, very neat, laid nice. Is there another name for it? Thanks!
Do you know anything about JC Edwards decoys
I grew up across the alley from the Lashbrooks. I was in their basement on winter street many times watching the family make decoys
This is my family! My mom is a Mason. Thanks for this video
Really learned a lot and enjoyed your stepwise progression and process. Thank you
Great video. Thanks
I like both contemporary and vintage. I grew up in Peoria,Il, Illinois river, Mississippi flyway;central flyway. I try to focus on that. As a life long Water Fowler I love the nostalgia of hunting over wooden decoys. But even better is a call lanyard full of bands. Even vintage calls are interesting
Tim, one of my favorite themes, big bore, please spend a hundred and get mics. I for one will choose to click on your channel if I could hear above the noise. Can you follow up with any of these folks? I'll be watching.
I love watching them being released
I have used wood stain with good results.
excellent video, getting excited to get started. Taking the advice of getting books to look through while I gather the tools.

Longline rope brand and type please...
sir gud day how many meters deep between waterline and the hook..thank you
Hey Tim I’m working on my second Canada Goose body to hunt over as a novice carver and there aren’t any commercially available patterns for a goose. I had to make my own off an old Redhead brand field decoy to make a floater. What’s the secret as novice carver to get better?
Hello Russ, I lived next door to Duncan Ducharme. I remember, as young boy, going over there and watch him carve decoys. All he had for equipment were a hand saw, a hatchet, a rasp, and a bit of sand paper. Out of a piece of cedar chunk, cut off of an old telephone pole, he would create his magic. He carved working decoys for various guides and lodges in the area of the Delta marsh. Someone had a gunny sack full of Duncan's decoys. When I started guiding on the Delta marsh, I remember using some of these decoys. I have a collection of decoys, but I don't have one of his, wish I had.
Not so live specs... don’t act like u have the secret to totally non lethal waterfowling 😂
I have learned a lot from your videos with Pat. The carving videos as well as this restoration series. I recommend them to a lot of new carvers.
Is there a decoy carving class offered in Michigan?
Hey Tim how do you build and apply a keel to a decoy?
What size and brand leaf bag do you use?
I would also like to know.
Great carving videos.Watched them over and over. Made a great difference in my begining carving.
Unfortunately I have never had a positive interaction with Marty. Never meet your idols, they will disappoint.
Steve Kunde, I have never met you in my life, sounds like I have been fortunate.
Hello Tim, are these stamps still available from the knife maker you know? I tried to email you but I think the email address may not be valid anymore. Great video by the way. Thanks !
The wash I use is based on this recipe. Thank you for sharing it. I have gone to WN Sap Green instead of the Thalo
Cameras not close enough.
nice idea sir !!!
Looks Great
👍👍👍
One over hand knot with the swivel in it will work just fine
A bowline around the ballbag & finger up the rectum works good too! Who knows, you might manage 2 or 3?
I've made some with the snap just tied in and it doesn't work as well as if it can rotate at all!
How do we get in touch with Pat?
I also use the brass clips like you have. One word of caution. I've lost some weights in the past when dragging the line. Often times when deploying by boat in deeper water you may need to adjust a line or two and the easiest way is to pick up one end and drag the line where you want. Several times doing this I've had the clip open under water and lost the weight. The weights I use I make with a 12 oz soda can full of lead with a stainless eye placed in the lead during the pour. Sucks to lose them. If anyone knows of a brass clip with a slide "lock" or similiar share the link.
I think The most important part of collecting decoys is to start by buying one of my decoys hehe. I have been carving for 35 years now and have carvings all over the world. .So if you want one of mine just hit me up ...Cheers from Canada.
lewandlo how do I get ahold of you?
At least post your website
Your videos are always so great and well done. Thank you both and keep up the great work.
You show a piece 2-3" thick...Do you work with larger? 5"....6"? I have access to clear cedar milled however I want....what would you ask for if you could carve any dimension white cedar?
The best size depends on the size of decoy you are making. For example the best size block would be different if you were carving a Teal versus a Goose. 4 inch thickness works well for most decoys.
Where was this filmed/
On a river in the Midwest : )
Well if he is near powerton lake , then your talking Illinois river
What are you using for the brace? That is so simple I love it but can't find one.
Hi Pat. The brace is a piece of square steel tubing with a piece of flat 1/4" steel welded on top to form a T. We then drilled holes in the cross piece to mount the decoy body. Your local welding shop could make up one of these in a jiffy.
