I also use the brass clips like you have. One word of caution. I've lost some weights in the past when dragging the line. Often times when deploying by boat in deeper water you may need to adjust a line or two and the easiest way is to pick up one end and drag the line where you want. Several times doing this I've had the clip open under water and lost the weight. The weights I use I make with a 12 oz soda can full of lead with a stainless eye placed in the lead during the pour. Sucks to lose them. If anyone knows of a brass clip with a slide "lock" or similiar share the link.
What knot for the loop on your dropper to the swivel, and to the decoy direct do you use? I know you called it a bowline, but doesn't look like one? It has the tag end parallel with the main, very neat, laid nice. Is there another name for it? Thanks!
Hi Heather! Thanks for watching. There are several excellent knot tying channels that show various ways to whip the end of a line. I just form an eye with the end of the line, the bail of the snap is captured by this eye. I then use whipping to secure the two legs of the eye together.
Final Flight, I use 5/32nds braided line from Bob Metrich of Decoy Rigs, Whiting, Indiana. It's stiff line but it helps when picking up your decoys. We prefer shorter drop lines (around 18"). However, I've seen longlines run with droppers as short as possible, and some with extra long droppers. the best length is the length that works for the way you hunt.
This guy knows his stuff. Nothing better than well tied knots. The leaf bags is a great tip. Just ordered some for my rig. Thanks!
Love this video, watched it many times. Can u please make a video on how you whip the ends. I currently always refer to the scaffold knot for my ends

What size are the barrel swivels that you use to go on the 1/4in line?
Ya I have the same question.
3 millimetre. Measure it with your Johnson & if the swivel is bigger then you're good.
Longline rope brand and type please...
Ha! I get my long line stuff from the same guy.
What size and brand leaf bag do you use?
I would also like to know.
Hey Tim, what are you using as cord for the drops?

Thanks Tim. I contacted decoy rigs the other day, just waiting on a price list and some samples. Thanks for sharing them with us
Hey Tim, what is the website to find bobs long lines?
He doesn't have a website. You have to call Bob. 219-659-8371
One over hand knot with the swivel in it will work just fine
A bowline around the ballbag & finger up the rectum works good too!
Who knows, you might manage 2 or 3?
I've made some with the snap just tied in and it doesn't work as well as if it can rotate at all!
