Of course, I thought "spiritual seekers" should imperatively know this: You are John Smith AND King Lear. You're not just the actor John Smith, you are also the character King Lear (throughout the day). You shouldn't deny that. But you're also not just the character King Lear, but also the actor John Smith. You also shouldn't deny that. Go about your day naturally as King Lear, walk around, have fun, be a little bit sad here and there, show your family love to the fullest, eat what you want to eat, hangout with your buddies...But don't FULLY IMMERSE yourself in character's story, because if you zoom out, you're (really) John Smith (Awareness). This will shield you from unnecessary suffering and will make you rise above the chaos of personhood. (Automatic/unconscious negative actions and decisions, unnecessary fights, comparisons, overthinking, etc.) Just my two cents. Peace! 🙏

I think you're becoming a true Daoist :) accepting the Dao / way of the universe and living in harmony, understanding ups and downs are balanced and that living in accordance with the Dao is being harmonised with the universe.

Did you follow and live the entire teachings i.e four step preparatory process known as the sAdhana chatuShTaya of non duality. I'm sure you did not and also many other western gurus have not, if not all. You cannot comment upon the philosophy, it's teachings and their results until unless you learn it from the masters who have walked sincerely on this path exactly as directed by the adi Shankaracharya. Simply understanding the pure awareness concept is not going to help or liberate you as it's meant to be. The same is also mentioned in chapter 4 of Vivek chudamani. Om🙏

Great video, Jeff. I first came across you when you were fully immersed in the non duality dogma you refer to and I didn’t resonate with your particular blend of the teachings, turning instead to other teachers. I’m glad to see that you have come to your senses now. I don’t conform to the pure non dual dogma either, especially where our individual humanity is denied. Of course, we are both the untainted awareness and the seemingly flawed individual seeking a life free of suffering. It’s the ocean including the waves. So refreshing to hear this turnaround from you but why quit teaching? You are more than qualified and can impart this new found wisdom to those that are open to hear it.

Paychotherapy plus non duality was what worked for me. In this order.

The Ukraine war deeply upset me. I had to stop following that news to protect my mental health. I now protect my mind from the influence of jingoism. Instead, I wish for peace and reconciliation there, despite those sentiments being unfashionable. Best wishes to everyone!

When I hear you say this, it's clear that you were in no position to be a "non-duel teacher" at any point, as you never actually encountered that mind. So your ego ran away with you in that respect, and you let it self-promote you, improperly, for several years (and is still doing so). In other words, you managed to kid yourself, and maybe fool some others (briefly). For if you had encountered the operation of the Actual-Mind you would not even consider saying these things for any reason. Just wouldn't happen. What you have done is to stop pretending and adopted the position of where you always were. No change at all. I will say that 'non-duel', which is not a word I like or normally use (added it very recently to vocabulary as it's in common use in some circles) is a term potentially suggestive of what may be incorrectly interpreted as a 'superior' position of understanding. And having actual-mind operate, even once, does of course put that person into a position of understanding, which someone who has not encountered it, is not in. This is so. It is not to do with superiority. People who go that far are immune to any sort of cultism, or group-think. That would not happen, quite impossible. Personally, I've never seen any hint of superior attitude within anyone that's encountered this, it's entirely antithetical to what actually occurs. So I'll put that down to your mistaken interpretation and associated misrepresenting of it as you make some video 'content'. It really matters to no one, in the manner to which you've stated it However, I did encounter U.G. Krishnamurti, who clearly had encountered actual-mind, and he was sometimes angry, frustrated, dismissive and verbally arrogant in enunciating what was what to questioners. So I can see how someone could see him as being 'superior' in the way that he described things as they are. Every person's expression is different and there is no right or wrong involved. The only terms I ever used since Nov 19th, 2000, were 'DIRECT', 'Actual-Mind', and 'Finite-Mind' (when referring to the thought process). These were my own expressions arising from Actual-Mind shockingly jumping to the foreground on that day. Although others either heard these terms and recycled them, or more likely they simply re-invented them, independently, because in common English use and terms, this is exactly what it is. What you're referring to as a glorious human vulnerability to the natural open and present, is always so for everyone - always. That never ceases to be, while alive, so I'm unclear as to why you highlighted this as a rationale for embracing a finite-based mind's intrigues around it. Turning to thought and imagination for spiritual input, is like eating a limp 4-day old salad to me. I would not. In reality, you became disheartened by the delay to come to the ending of your mind's content and that stasis resulted in the finite-mind's imagination process being indulged, and finally given free-rein. Which is fine. This is not your failure of course, it's just a delay. I started in late 1997, with an intense and entirely desperate examination at depth, which culminated in actual mind exploding into operation at 1:20 PM on Nov 19th, 2000. I was full-time and unrelenting with it all day, every day, examining everything during that period. That was my life, there were no days-off, it was not even a chore or exercise, it was my very reason to keep living. I mostly enjoyed it ... greatly. It was intense and exciting, only occasionally a touch frustrating. I was never 'blocked', it was constant. Just getting it done daily, with no end in sight. I knew so little that I didn't know anything would nor could happen. It was a massive shock when it did. By far the most shocking thing that's ever occurred to me. BY FAR! I have no idea what the typical timeframe is for this to occur. For so long I encountered no one else who had gotten to it. In 20 years I encountered a handful of people that I could tell for sure had encountered the Actual-Mind. Maybe 5 people that I was quite sure had got there. So I was persuaded by this that, that this was strangely incredibly rare, and unbelievably personal and unconveyable to others. Which was incredibly puzzling. I knew that every human already had it. This was immediately obvious as soon as it started operating. But people couldn't access it, because of the finite-mind never shutting up. They can coexist, but they can not mix, the moment you think - it stops. The thinking mind literally has to be fully emptied, and all thoughts you know, negated, discounted, devalued. Which I can see within this video, you never got to. But lately youtube linked me with numerous people who got to it. Which has altered my perspective on its rarity quite a bit. So yes, it does seem rarefied, but it is certainly not evocative in the slightest of elitist sentiments, it's in fact quite impossible to be like that and just won't stick. These are immiscible. There was a time in the mid-1990s when I was at an elite level with a certain non-'spiritual' personal activity. I knew I was among the very best at it, and locally was then considered to be the 'best'. I'm familiar with that feeling of confidence and accomplishment that situation gave me, I learned the value of striving to do at least one thing better than anyone else. But I never indulged in that as a 'superiority', even then. Such things as competition and hierarchy did not matter to me, they were actually a massive turnoff for me. But I loved what exceling at an activity produced in terms of my capacity and understanding of what it takes to do that. That was a very healthy and helpful thing, for me and others. It's quite impossible for me to be interested in those things now. And it would be the same for anyone who's encountered Actual-Mind. So ... given it's clear from your video content that you were not in contact with actual-mind, at any point, it's thus likely that the people who you say interacted with a form of 'superiority', were also not in contact with actual-mind at any point, either. This is the one explanation for what you're saying that does explain your reactions and asserted views. And you were never going to empty the thinker when you were just pretending to be a "non-duellist teacher", but had never even encountered it. I hope you finally realise this and can face up to it squarely. You can not fool the Actual-mind, it knows exactly when you're done. You have nothing to do with declaring it, and you are not and never have been a non-duel teacher. This is a part of the block to why you can not get to that. Hopefully you can face that and get it done. You may need an extra large serving of desperation to get you there. You will not get to it without your being thoroughly broken, first. So when that comes, make the most of it, it's a blessing in disguise. Grasp the nettle and get it done. Or not.

long ago learned life is a wonderful journey and whether "caught" in thoughts of duality or non duality, religion or non-religion, nothing is right or wrong less the mind thinks so. AND not thinking that is no problem either. keeping it simple, I receive all things with thankfulness, and for those that do not, thank you.

To "walk on this earth" is to let go of the mind trying to label what is here. There are no waves and no ocean. Those concepts are handles the mind wants to hold on to. That is fine, just need to recognize the mind's instinctive survival mode to make sense of experience for survival purposes. Being clear of being swept away by varying parts of ourselves, which are usually protective patterns, simply means doing what requires the least amount of energy. There is nothing to do, nothing to become, no problem to solve, until the mind steps in and says there is. To say there is nothing to do, is actually doing too much, which is also doing too much..............being with a little "b". The big "B" is doing.

Yes! Finally had enough after hearing a well known Christian non-dual teacher say there is no suffering cause there is no self or no God. And that is a guy who claims to follow Jesus, who said little more significant more important than love and care for others, and help relieve their suffering. now don't go and make this guy's talk a dogma.

i resonate with this as i feel that understanding this non duality deeply in the cells will not work if one is not embodying these qualities. I see this in many of the people and it creates a barrier in how we truly can relate to each other

Your videos are great, Jeff! Keep doing them. They are very helpful and insightful. I’ve been a seeker since my early teenage years, in my early 20’s I embraced a more traditional orthodox Cristian religion. In my late 30’s / early 40’s I started hitting the ceiling and started looking for more. I Did 1 plant medicine retreat and then big into meditation and it all completely shattered my conceptual framework that used to give me meaning… I went through a more than one dark night experiences in the past two years. As i try to put myself back together I’m finding there is so much dogma, so many false absolutes and so many pitfalls on the “awakened” spiritual path. I’ve started seeing many of the issues you highlight…

This guy is talking truth. Spiritual teachers, gurus, whoever you put in a pedestal, they all piss, shit, fart and fuck. Enlightenment is an Indian fairy tale created by those who didn't know what enlightenment was. Happiness, humanity, humility and humour is all we need. That's what pure consciousness looks like when it shines into the human experience, unrestricted by the resistance to it. Thanks for the video Jeff. Beautiful satsang, Jeff! Gentle, non-judgemental, & true. It reminds me of that line: "What if God was one of us, just a slob like one of us..." We don't have anything to prove...we have to do our best, be present, & spread as much love as possible.

I experienced this a bit too when I was following buddhism and others were definitely rejecting 'the personality'. You can be aware you are awareness and rest in that in meditation, but it's fine to experience the world through your emotions. After all, that is our ultimate nature but we are humans in the world now and we should enjoy that!

so little teacher's speak about this. I believe i am a soul having a human experience, i believe earth and incarnation is a beautiful gift and that our "ego" is actually a gift so Source can experience this dimension. Yes there is a dark side to spirituality... it can divide us from our human experience, our 3 first energy centers of power and will .... For many years i had a spiritual path but was such a dysfunctional human being, divorced from my pain, emotions, human functionning, my relationships were shit and i was frankly dysfunctional because i was trying to divorce myself from that dimension of myself. Then i finally went to therapy, took therapy training and became a relationship therapist. I now feel i can ride the human experience with more love and respect for the human functioning. I believe "Transcendence " can be a way to keep souls away from there possibility of embodied incarnated Source ! How sad... we are here to experience this LIFE. Some of us need to learn to rise towards more dissolution and experience of unity consciousness yes, but i believe most of us need to learn to ground into our bodies and bring light and source into the ANimal-human ego structure through embracing it with love and learning to ride the waves of life in this dimension.

I've watched your videos for a long time and watched many others teachers and gurus and pastor's etc but many were false but your the real deal!! Ive seen you evolve in every video you make and despite your Illness and pain, you've grown Spiritually. I used to be hard on myself because i have flaw's and fell back into old habits but deep down its all okay!! Im realizing that its okay to be human and to make mistakes. I don't want to be perfect by social standards. It totally sucks that i found God and then fell back into addiction. Its a blow to my ego but yet its all good. Life...... what an experience. Life is The Greatest High!!

Yes, we are the one same awareness, but I struggle with the idea it is timeless. The only way we have access to that aspect of self is through the manifested body/life incarnation. So...what "we are" is ultimately in form, awareness in form. Can't be separated out.
