    The alignment tool can be installed in an improper reverse way, according to the X260 manual chapter "FUEL PUMP CAMSHAFT TIMING CHECK". Is it possible that you assembled incorrectly the tool ?

    Ugg its just the chain rotate it back enough to get it in . Then tap motor forward it will all lock in then

    It looks to me like you’ve got the fuel pump shaft timing tool for the 5.0 rather than the 3.0, they are different ! ( I’m not referring to the flywheel locking tool )

    what is the solution of the problem?

  • @TheOnyx31

    The problem is that you expect to do the job without having to remove anything. Second, you are trying to do this without referring to the manual. Alldata is 20.00 for 30 days. The V6 and V8 are no different. You are unprepared and making the job harder than what it is. Easier to remove the black tensioner and oil pan. Manually position chain at timing points.

    Your timing on fuel pump is off one tooth. Redo the fuel pump to crank timing and it will work

    How did that work out for you?

    Idk if you guys figured it out on your end but from what I’ve been seeing there’s a tool for the 3.0 and 5.0 . They both have different places . You may be using the wrong alignment tool.

    Yep, same on my end. Horrible design, all the way down to the crap parts that wear within 80K

    Yep, I have a 2012 AJ133 (5.0 V8) in a land rover LR4 and found the exact same thing. - Crankshaft with keyway at 6-o-clock position, - timing tool lock fits in correct index position on flexplate, - I have exactly the same as you, I am NOT at TDC on cylinder-1. This position puts the big-end journal of cylinders 1 and 2 at the 12-o-clock position, which is clearly 45 degrees ATDC on cylinder 1 and 45 deg BTDC on whatever phase Cyl-2 is at. - HP fuel pump timing tool doesn't fit, it's out by like a half-tooth. I have one of the dual-mode HPFP timing tools, one side is AJ133 (5.0) and the other is AJ126 (3.0). It currently fits perfect in the 3.0 configuration which is even more confusing. I'm going through the timing chain service now and noticed the HP fuel pump shaft is technically out of alignment (180 out of phase) - which I also don't get since the engine was happily running like this with no codes before I started the timing guide update (preventative maintenance, the engine as running perfect before I started the work. I guess trust the timing chain indicators? honestly I don't know, I'm going to leave the fuel timing where it is (since the engine ran fine before) and start it up before I assemble all the cooling, check for codes and hope for the best. Let me know if you ever figured this one out, would be great to know!

    Thanks for the help with the fuel pump timing. I have one more problem you could maybe help with. We have two plastic tubes with a flange, 9mm long, one has a check ball, I took them out, but cannot remember where they belong!? any ideas? I can't figure out how to take and send a picture, but we are working on a 2014 XJ 351 V6 supercharged. Thanks Larry

    The problem is from the chain.. just Take your alignment from the two locking tool( flywheel and fuel pump cam locking tools)

    Try spinning the fuel pump 180 degree I believe that should work.

    I cannot upload photos on here. But having found same problem, I found out that it’s the laser tool that is at fault. The fuel pump timing position is different on v6 compared to v8. The genuine tool is in 3 pieces so the cam lobe section can be used one way around or the other depending on if it’s V6 or V8. So if it’s a V6 one face is outwards, if it’s a V8 the other face is outward. The laser tool you can’t flip the lobe as it’s 1 piece but the tool they sell is essentially only for V8, they don’t sell a separate V6 one that I’m aware of. Best to just align the coloured links. And that should be correct then.

      Thanks for the info. That's what I ended up doing and the motor runs fines. I just have a problem with one head gasket not sealing.

    • @Clicksystems
      @Clicksystems Před rokem

      @@kiwiinnl I’ve raised the issue with Laser Technical. It doesn’t look like they tested it on a V6 engine, just a v8 and assumed it was same as same tool is listed for both engines Just genuine tool comes in 3 pieces and the lobe part can be flipped... but their one is fixed because they say it’s to make use easier.. apparently don’t seem to realise that it was in 3 pieces so it was interchangeable. It shows it clearly in the Jaguar workshop info. What problem are you having with head gasket sealing? I’ve just done a head gasket on an f type

    • @kiwiinnl
      @kiwiinnl Před rokem

      @@Clicksystems I also raised the issue with Laser but got no where. I'm interest to hear how you get on. I did see the Jag tool looked different in the workshop manual. As for the head leak, I had the heads planed but not the block as it looked fine. The block is from another car, as mine was toast. After putting it back together the head started leaking coolant into cylinder 1 and I had low compression in 1 and 2. So I took it off again and couldn't find anything? I replaced the gasket again and it seemed to be good but now it looks like it's started to leak again. I need to look in to more, (No time) Do you know the thickness of the head gasket you used? You can find some pictures at www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xf-x260-99/rebuilding-306ps-motor-257712/

    • @Clicksystems
      @Clicksystems Před rokem

      @@kiwiinnl I will let you know. They might take me more seriously as I sent screenshots of the Jaguar manual showing difference between V6 and V8 use of the tool which show the lobe is flipped and 1 side has 2 indentations visible and other side only has 1. So will see. Regarding head gasket, only one thickness available, I used a genuine gasket, it had like a rubberised coating on it.

    • @Clicksystems
      @Clicksystems Před rokem

      They have not got back to me, but they have amended their website to say the tool is for 5.0 V8 only now. So answer to this problem is to source genuine tool because even the Chinese version of the tool is 1 piece like the laser tool.
