Aero Riser V3 Assembly Tutorial
This video will show you how to assemble your Creation V3 Riser.
The first step is the attach the deck to the side brackets. Without your side brackets mounted to your pedalboard, hand-tighten all 4 screws to the top deck.
With your assembled riser in place, bolt your side brackets through the top, going through the backing plate and threading into the nuts.
Your screws should be sitting flush to the top surface to leave room to mount Patch Bays and D-Panels to your side brackets.
At any point you can hinge your riser forward or backward by taking out either the rear, or front deck screws to open it in the direction you need.
It is important to note that the top deck screws should only be finger-tight so that you always have access to hinging the riser.

Love the looks of these! I'm considering a two tier. Love that the foot can be extended to add a power supply underneath.
Magnetic latch on the hinge would be an awesome option. I'd almost always hinge towards the back.
We actually just updated these with our new V3 Series rollout late last year. Truth is, we considered doing a magnet and honestly, we stuck with the 4 screw method in this version. It’s more versatile for different setups. Most people do hinge toward the back like you, but some do need to hinge to the front and this allows that. Also, with the feedback we got from this first version, almost everyone just left out the 2 screws for their hinging orientation and found it was more convenient. Gravity keeps it from hinging whenever it’s not in the case and the magnets aren’t even necessary.
@@Creationmusiccompany makes sense! I really dig your design. I’d be upgrading from another company’s board. A quad 4.2. Your boards seem to fit the bill nicely. Looking to go two tiered.
Hi John Does it matter if a couple of strands break off from the red or white ?? Does it affect the quality?
So cool bro, what caliber is your cable? 3:36
Guys thank you so much for showing so many details on that video. I am having a hard time designing my pedalboard and understanding what approach to take (either elevated, two-tiered, patch-bay included, etc. etc). Some parts are not compatible with the other; V3 and V2 are similar, but have differences. I haven't found all minute tech details on your website, but I surely have on this video. And I hope you ship to Europe :D
Dawg that’s fucking genius too bad my board is metal 🫠
Drill through and bolt it.
I recently purchased a 32x16 Elevation series board, and the dual lock that I used to mount my Phoenix didn't hold up. I'm just now seeing this, but it looks like this mounting kit has been discontinued. Can you providing the specs and names of the parts that are used so I can recreate this? I know the machine screws are 6-32, but I'd need the specs for the washer/chain links. I'm not sure what to search online to find just the separate washers. All I'm finding online right now are bike chain sets that include a bunch of the extra stuff for a bike that I obviously wouldn't need to mount my power supply. Is there any information you could provide?
On the Dual Lock. Phoenix are the hardest because they have a heavy transformer and a rough texture powder coat. I’ve found on those that 2 strips of 1 inch Dual Lock, the entire length of the power supply is required. Not just 2-3 2 inch segments. You basically have to cover the entire bottom of the Phoenix. If you wanted to switch to a mechanical mount that would work to. However, this video was of a wooden deck. Yours is thinner aluminum, of course. So, to do this on an Elevation, you would need to drill through the deck. Just want to make sure you realize the difference. I would also recommend after drilling through, using a countersink bit so you can recess the screw flat to the top side of the deck but it’s up to you. I still have a ton of these bicycle links left. If you want to email me, I can make up a kit and send an invoice for one with screws that would match your elevation. Info@creationmusiccompany.com
Hi John great video… I’m a solo musician and have all my cables in a rack case… Rather than open the case It be great to have the power C14 on the outside with a switch as seen in your video…. So could I have a 4 socket power board going to that one c14 ? I’m from ireland so the current is different than the US
It would be different with the voltage over there as it’s all 120v here. However, if I understand you correctly, then yes. I’ve wired little 3-5 outlet power strips to this sort of setup many times. Just make sure the switches and connectors you use can handle the amp load needed for the power strip as it’s usually a heavier gauge wire drawing more current. To be clear, I am not a licensed electrician. Any answer I give is purely for discussion and only speculation.
Hey guys, is this kit still available? I checked the site and couldn't find it. thanks.
No sir. This is from a parts store we no longer operate.
After 7 years your video still helping out. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to wire just a 2 wire rocker, even though your video was 3 wire, you explained about the double neutral being for the light and isn't necessary for 2 wire. I could not find any other video to explain this as precisely as yours. Thanks
I’ve had a handful of these for a while now. So easy to put together, very solid, and easy to use. I just purchased a DPC5 from disaster and wanted to use the evo solderless cables for that. I did everything I was supposed to and those do NOT want to work. Pretty lame imo, and a waste of money. I most definitely think these cables from Creation are far better than the evo. And have a solid housing, despite not having a straight out end.
Awesome! So glad you like them!
That 30” riser… should it have a center support of some sort? Or maybe it does and I just didn’t notice.
I have the same question. Looks like it could bend or sag over time.
Sorry to hear. I love my Vixen. If you ever reissue... resurrect the Vixen.
Hello, so If I get right you can make an AERO series at any size? Not just the standart sizes? For example... 27X16?
This is a great video! It's giving me some ideas. Can you recommend any tutorial that would demonstrate how to use this method with the line 6 hx stomp pedal? Also, it might be prudent to have the wiring contained in a metal box.
Hi, is the kit not on the website anymore?
No. This is an old video. We no longer have a dedicated DIY parts site.
This video is crystal clear! I just have one question, the IEC socket, is that supposed to be a C13 or C14? I found both so I’m not sure which one to buy. Any help here will be appreciated!
The way I understand it is, C14 is Male. C13 is Female.
@@Creationmusiccompany I think you’re absolutely right! Thanks for replying and once again, amazing video!
Two of my screws are too “short” to thread back on. Why me lol
You can usually find longer ones at a local hardware store. Been years since we did them this way. We pretty much just use 3M dual lock now for everything. But, that's not an option on unfinished wood.
@@Creationmusiccompany all good i just had some spare screws lying around. odd that two of mine fit and two did not tho. thanks for the reply !
This is an awesome video. I want to try my hand at making a custom 1/8" TRS male to MIDI Male cable with a wiring scheme that only uses 3 pins (2, 4 and 5). Can you tell me what gauge wire will work in terms of fitting the MIDI connector. Obviously I want something that is easier to solder but also strong enough and able to fit in the housing. Is 22 AWG too big? Thank you in advance.
If you like this video, stay tuned. We’re working on a new project of tutorials similar to this but better quality recording and audio. 22AWG should be fine for the midi connector pin openings. Just be sure to twist it tight. A good trick is to pre-tin the wires and then clip to a sharp point. This helps make sure you don’t have one strand left out of the joint shorting to another joint.
@@Creationmusiccompany Perfect. Thank you so much! Yeah, I'm not a whiz at soldering, but it's all about preparation, patience and practice. I want to make my own cable because I haven't found anyone that sells it except a company in Germany and with the shipping, VAT and Euro exchange rate it would cost about $48 for a cable I could probably make with Neutrik / Rean brand connectors and some Mogami wire for about $10.
@@anthonyrexhouse5858 I think @goodwoodaudio sells one
Thanks for this video. However, the power station has a 3-prong inlet which this type of wiring supports. How should asian type of power station, with a 2-prong plug be wired, using the same IEC sockect and switch?
I'm honestly not sure on this. I typically don't use power supplies that aren't 3 prong.
I've found the answer. I condemned the ground pole and not use it. So far I am using my pedal board perfectly.
Nice video, only suggestion I would make would be to test with a multimeter the end of the wire going to the device you are powering to make sure all of your connections are good and no shorts.
Sino po ba nauna? Ito or GC Rockboard?
Thank you very much for this. Very well done video! I have a question about the number of power supplies you can connect to the same switch? For example, I have 2 power supplies one 4X4 voodoolab and 1 ISO 5 .
In that situation, I would rehoming wiring a dual plug cable to the switch. A better solution honestly is to use a power supply with a courtesy outlet, like the Monod or PP2+ and just link them with a short ac cord. OR, a lot of the newer power supplies like the Strymon ones, like with a 24v connector. One power supply can link up to 9 total in their ecosystem. I'm a big fan of this.
Would love to see a workflow tips for the trs pancake plugs :D
Coming very soon! Working on a whole new soldering video series.
I tried to follow the link for that AC inlet connector but can't find it. Any idea where I can find it? What a great video!
Hey Dale, we no longer operate a DIY parts store. We chose a few years ago to just focus on our own products and we no longer stock this part. It's made by Marinco. You should be able to find it on Amazon for about $10-15.
@@Creationmusiccompany that's great. Thank you for that and I love the website.
Thumbs up. Nice tips on this one!
I don't know why I didn't consider using spade connectors, I soldered all my connections. your method is safer and easier to take apart! Thanks
How can I get some
We no longer sell these items.
Wish u had trs balance options I love this solderless
It's impossible to do TRS with solder less like this.
I am looking at making a build soon-ish with a PBC6 and was curious if you knew how these might pan out? Traditionally I've use straight plugs on the looper and the RA on the pedals. Do you know if these will have enough clearance to do send and return with the angled connectors? Or do you have options for solderless straight cables as well?
Yes. We've had some people do that with these. There is enough space between the connectors to fit the cable routing between the connectors. Works great.
@@Creationmusiccompany That's great to hear! Would love to make it more of a one stop shop to get a new board, power supplies, and cable needs. Hope to place an order here soon as the budget allows!
Beware of conflicting pin numberings! I've run into MIDI connectors with exact opposite numbers on the connector. If you don't notice you can wire the cable up, check pin 1 to pin 1 (excluding use of a cable tester) and it will appear to be correct. Problem is pin 1 on the one side really goes to pin 3 on the other. Same with pins 4 and 5. The only one that seems to never move is pin 2. Yeah, I did that....
True, but when making a cable, the most important thing is passing the signal. Really, as long as the cable is soldered to the same pins on both ends, it really is all that matters.
@@Creationmusiccompany - Absolutely but it seems you can't rely on the numbering that appears on the connector. Thought it might be a good idea to check the embossed numbers on one side as they may not be the same as the other end.
Two of my Musitronics pedals won't operate from a DC power supply. If I add a AC power inlet to the DC power supply, will that enable the DC power supply to operate my pedals?
That shitty muzak is really annoying man.
Ik..this is a old posting but can a non iluminated on off push canopy switch like on standard light lamp be used as interrupter with iec on pedal board ...
Yea. It would just be 2 wires instead of 3, both of the same color.
@@johncalebsnyder so you use the neutral side or the hot on the interupter or was the hot on the switch only for the led
I'll be purchasing soon, they look well-designed/awesome.
Anyone found a similar or same product in the UK or Europe?
www.fabricuk.com/fabrics/883-velcro-brand-receptive-loop-nylon-non-foam-back.html
These kits don't appear on your web store anymore, can you confirm if you will be doing them again?
Royyy we stopped selling them when they no longer became compatible with our boards. Our boards are flat aluminum decks now. Stronger, lighter. But there is nothing to screw into. We recommend 3M Dual lock to mount power supplies. It’s incredibly strong, makes no holes, and is a universal fit.
@@Creationmusiccompany We bought a board at the Dallas show which is wood. Would you recommend going with 3M lock or using the bicycle chain links with the Walrus? If the bicycle chain links, what size screws to use for attaching it to the wood? Thank you!
@@HelenaHarris this video was before I really discovered Dual Lock. Our boards for the last 4-5 years have been aluminum when mounting the power supply below. For those, Dual Lock is amazing. I prefer Dual Lock because then if you make a change, you’re not left with holes on the deck. For the new custom shop boards, we sanded and finished the underside so that dual lock “should” work. If you want to use the mounts though, bicycle link and a 3/8” depth wood screw work great. You can use a 1/2” screw, but may need an extra washer to keep from going through the deck. As for the power supply, the stock screw should work, but if you need a longer one from the hardware store, they’re usually 8-32 thread count.
@@Creationmusiccompany can the dual lock adhesive really hold up to the weight of the Walrus Audio Phoenix, on your current boards? That’s a lot of weight for the adhesive to hold.
It seems that various companies have different color coding. Like for example, Mogami recommends the shield to pin 2. Then pins 4 and 5 get white and black wires.
Are both channels Vox inspired or is the 12ax7 more Fenderish?
Neither are Vox inspired to be honest. The EF86 gets a bit more of that just because of the tube choice for the pre-amp, but still played through 6L6 power tubes. The amp itself is completely original though.
Can your amps have effects loops installed on them?
I purchased creation patch cables for my board. (I play for my church every week plus practice. I haven had any issues with the Solderless cables) I have to say… It’s so easy to put these cables together. I have 13 pedals on my board. I put my board in less then half the time of the DIY lava’s patch cables. This video is as easy as it looks. My board is so quiet. I’m not getting paid to say this, but if you’re looking for patch cables for your board I highly recommend Creations patch cables. Thank you for a great product. Cheers
You are very welcome! Glad they're working so well for you.
Hey guys! You dont sell this anymore ?
Hey Jair Osorio! Yes, that’s correct. We left this up as a tutorial guide, but we no longer sell this product.
@@Creationmusiccompany Thanks this video always help me i hope it never dissapears. Have a great weekend.
So why is the camera rocking back and forth? Are you on a boat? Don't have a tripod? sheesh.
Yep. Filmed on a small charter boat in the Caribbean during a storm. We went out looking for treasure but with didn’t find any. Argh!
the peddles sound nice. what about the amp though?
the pedals do sound nice, but it's the amp the whole time. Some clips use pedals to show how the amp takes it, as well as on the eclipse, the pedals were used to give a stereo signal. At 0:35 though it's all the amp with just a tiny bit of reverb
also, 2:05 has basically no pedals
So....whats the latest with creation amps!?
Still around and still making amps. They're on our website if you're interested.
I am surprised you got into the solderless cable market.
DUANE Rogers we were in the Solderless game from day 1 (almost 7 years ago) carrying Lava Cable on our website. Eventually we dropped it because the kits we saw seemed finicky and difficult to make. Our own kit is MUCH more simple to make. We’ve been carrying it a bit over a year now and are loving it. So far, they are the best Solderless we’ve ever experienced and have an extremely low capacitance cable. 24 pf per ft. All that to say, we do still say that setups and soldered cable are the most reliable, but for people who love the convenience of Solderless, these are the best.
@@Creationmusiccompany I did not know that you carried Lava Cable on your website (feeling a little embarrassed). Probably because I only looked at your custom patch cables. I learned something new today. I do agree with you on the "finicky-ness" of solderless patch cables in general. I love what you guys are doing with your business and all the videos you put out to help educate and inform us. AAA+++
All good. Yea. I’ve actually been using these on my personal board for over a year and have not been able to get one to fail. If it weren’t for TSA I would try and do a setup with one.
Thanks mate very helpful what cable are you using, and solder size, cheers I need to make custom size midi cables for my new pedalboard amp channel switcher so this was super helpful
This is genius! I’ll be buying a mount kit from you for sure.
Only one problem. You used 18-22 awg connectors on 16 awg wire. They may not be rated for the amp draw your power supply as they are typically only rated for 7A.
