Gosh! Just getting back from thrifting and I thought I would check in here on You Tube and was THRILELD to see you had posted. You don't even know, what your videos mean to me. You are such a source of inspiration and comfort to be quite honest. You kitchen updates are absolutely LOVELY! Well done! The cafe curtains are CHARMING. When you mentioned a possible counter top replace, I had in mind the black stone. Ruth over at Hungry for Home, chose black countertops for their daughter's classic kitchen redo. Will miss you! The kitchen looks amazing! All of your ideas are so encouraging. We have an older home, too, so my husband painted the kitchen cabinets, ceramic tiled the kitchen floor, and installed porcelain countertops. My kitchen is a lovely neutral and is so warm and very practical. I've been following you since Evey was a little and I've enjoyed every minute of it. We are just back from a road trip to the south of England ( we live in Scotland). I’m 68 and hubby is 73. Now back home we are going to update our bathroom and kitchen! I love your kitchen update. Enjoy your break in August. You certainly deserve it Hilary.

LOVE, Love, love your kitchen! I will be doing upgrades to my kitchen next spring and using your design. I love cottage inspired kitchens, especially when its just hinted and timeless like yours. I started following your channel when you started this house project. I immediately went back and binged all your previous videos to get caught up. So impressed by all the upgrades and renovations you've completed in this house. This is such an adorable house, nice floor plan and tons of character. Love it! I knew it would come out great. I love the curtains too. I sew under the sink curtains for every season, its fun to switch them out and adds character I think. My husband initially wasn't on board to remove to cabinet doors and use curtains instead but now he's a fan. Take all the time you need, enjoy the rest of your summer! Its been SO HOT here I am starting to think about fall.... just a little bit ;)

So grateful your not leaving. Got a little scared there for a minute. You encourage me to keep doing better when my kids were little I had to work 7pm to 3am I was always exhausted and no one really understood that around me. That thought because I was home with my kids that I was available to do errands and favors for them my only thoughts were FITTING IN SLEEP. I would have been a better mother had I not had to work outside the home. Watching you makes me know I did my best. And must forgive myself for what I couldn't do. Thank you for being such a good mom the world will have 4 more wonderful people that's to you and Dan.

Love the curtains! Our house is from the 70s and has a lot of its own charm. We’ve done gut jobs on some but have worked with what’s existing on other parts. We love our home and are grateful, as I know you are. I appreciate you sharing from that point of view.

Beautiful kitchen. You are very smart to have kept those cabinets. Probably better made than what’s out there today. And the doors are vintage 😍 Just wanted to share- I too have a porcelain sink. No amount of scrubbing with a dry eraser and bar keepers friend worked. I had dark scratches and dings, and it just was looking so bad. Yesterday I used Clorox bleach toilet cleaner and let it sit for like 20 minutes. My sink looks like I just installed it. All the dark dings and scratches were probably just imbedded dirt I couldn’t get out. Btw, the 3rd kitchen pic you showed was the inspiration pic I used 8 years ago to design my kitchen😍.

The video of you stripping the cabinets I think in your parents' basement was the first video I watched of yours! Definitely turned out fabulous!

I dont think it looks oudated. I feel like we go back looking for old styles and cottage like finishes that u dont get with all new .
