Hardwired | Blender | Year 3 Capstone Project | Yoobee Colleges
2023 was my last year of university. This is the final project that I made in a group of 3. We learned a lot and are pretty happy with the end result.
Also I just finished my first day of work today at an Animation Studio so that's exciting, and you can expect to see a video about my experience at some point soon!

    This is SO inspiring and I can't wait to see more from you! :D I do have a question though, since you're far more experienced with Blender than I am... If I wanted to create assets for Godot in grease pencil, let's say, 3D objects with grease pencil on top of them..is there a way to add them into Godot as of now? As long as they are low-poly, could I add a good amount of interactive objects or is Godot limited in how many can be used in a space or level? Can they be animated as well in their 3D state or is that limited to flat, grease pencil animations? Sorry..I'm still learning about grease pencil but I find it's potential with godot fascinating and want to see what it's capable of.

    "Stretch-to" seems to break everything. They start twisting the original bones all over the place, making them unusable. I tried: - parent swapping - disconnecting original bones - keeping them on the same layer - using new bones for the MCHs - starting from scratch Is there a fix or workaround for this issue?

I learned to animated simple things in after effects, I make a chapter in Flash (very little), and eventually did renders for architects on 3Dmax... I never could realize my dream.. now I have 39 years old, I working editing videos and the most funny part is color grading. I tried to be a colorist but is a difficult nich to work. Now e see your videos and Im nostalgic, I would love to comeback to this dream, but I feel old, to much time lost.... Oh men, this is awesome. Mainly from a Joysticks 'n Sliders background. However, I feel this workflow underutilizes the 3D nature of Blender. It is a 3D program men, why not just making it in 3D? You could at least using a 3D object as a reference for the movement. Anyway, the result is top level and I learn a lot in how to make things from scratch for 2D and 2.5 in Blender, which is extremely useful for certain situations where there is no other way to do it. Thanks a lot for sharing.

      @SketchySquirrel Před 23 dny

      Hi there, I'm really not that familiar with Adobe animate, so I'm not entirely sure how that workflow works, but my understanding is that the idea of nested symbols is very unique to Animate, but you should be able to achieve a similar workflow by using different grease pencil objects, and a parenting hierarchy. I have no idea what type of portfolio they're looking for 👀, I'd love to be able to animate just like this one day and tell a story :D

    • @SketchySquirrel
      @SketchySquirrel Před 29 dny

      Hey thank you so much! At Yoobee, they pretty much accept anyone who applies. It's not a particularly prestigious school, but the tutors were great, and I found it really valuable. In my case, because I had spent much of my high school years making animations, I wanted to skip the first year of the course, and I was able to do so by showing my portfolio, in the form of an art station page. In my view, there isn't always a huge about of value in attending a more exclusive school, that requires a portfolio, but even so I would recommend working on your portfolio. The reason for this is because, unlike other industries, a degree can't guarantee work in the art / design industry. So while a formal education can help you develop your skills, ultimately it will be up to you to push yourself, and the earlier you start the better. Thank you again for your kind words, and I really hope that this response is helpful to you. :)

The limitation helps me focus on fundamentals, which helps to see problems earlier on, and I can add texture later in the process. Thank you again for your kind words. This is fantastic and will make it much easier for those who want to do cutout and rigging animation with Blender's Grease Pencil without going through Blender's lengthy and time-consuming process of doing cutout and rigging animation with Blender's current tools. Question: Are there any plans to update the addon to include features it currently lacks, such as adding full "360 Degree Turns" similar to what you can do in Toon Boom Harmony and Mojo Pro? Blender's Grease Pencil desperately needs improved 2D rigging and cutout animation tools identical to those found in Toon Boom and Moho. Blender does have those tools and is functional, but they could be improved significantly. I apologize for asking since I know you are very busy.
