Tempo Eccentric Squats vs. The Flywheel!
zhlédnutí 363Před 3 lety
🏋️‍♂️ ⚙️ Tempo Eccentric Squats vs. Flywheel Squats. Which is better?⁣ ⁣ Eccentric tempo squats are commonly used in training. To execute you descend slower than you rise (4 seconds down, 2 seconds up in this study). But is it actually effective? 🤔 What about flywheel squats? If you follow my posts you know I use the flywheel a lot. How does it compared to a more traditional eccentric movement?...
Force Plates & Jumping, What You Need to Know!

IT'S SCIENCE!™℠®© ... OK but what is it really? Here's what you need to know: Force plates are basically expensive bathroom scales. They measure force at small time increments (usually 1/1000 second). Coaches and sc...

Free Weights vs. Machines: Which is Better?!

    I feel like I've got the technique, but what are some exercises I can do other than weighted squats and calf raises? I'm 35 and 6ft and can hit the rim with my wrist off a 1 foot jump and can grab the rim off a 2 foot jump. I can do a basic dunk most of the time off a 1 foot jump, can do a basic dunk some of the time off a 2 foot jump. I want to be able to easily dunk off both jumps again

      If you are good with technique then it will be about weight room exercises. I suggest 2-3 times per week mixing in: Full squats - heavy & moderate loads Loaded squat jumps - light & moderate load Max effort plyos with a target to touch 3-6 sets. 3-5 reps. 2-5 min rest. Max intent with each rep. Track your numbers and progressively increase week to week.

      My knees felt better but the pain didn't fully resolve after the challenge. I have partial tears in both patellar tendons. I recently, FINALLY made significant progress with a new routine involving isometrics and collagen. I'm waiting a few more weeks to make sure it's real and not transient. I will make a video detailing it all.

      @@flightlabhoops8604 I noticed this was your last video, hope all is well also with the knee. Did you do the isometrics through the reverse nordic? And are you still doing them as a part of your routine? I'm curious because most people seem positive about this exercise for knee health while every now and then you hear of some horror story where the person seemingly did everything right in terms of slowly building up but still ended up with a bad injury. So I'm not sure yet how safe this exercise is and whether to incorporate it in my routine long term.

      @flightlabhoops8604 Před 3 lety

      No need to actively tighten the core or contract your abs. I have no doubt you are in fact losing inches if you are actively trying to contract your abs. The jump is a sequential and coordinated movement. I would really work on footwork and the leg whip as priorities for your technique. Good luck!

    • @BrianUnverferth
      @BrianUnverferth Před 3 lety

      Either one works. Hand or even leg dominance doesn't dictate which foot should be the plant and which should be the block (block leg same as leg whip leg). What's important it's the approach arc in the run up matches the correct leg whip. If arcing to the right, the plant is the right foot and the block (and leg whip) is the left. And vice versa.

    • @Luke17459
      @Luke17459 Před 3 lety

      @@Luke17459 if you start at the top of the key (middle of the court) and head to the right side of the basket, you should slightly arc left on your way there (you won't run a straight line). Your plant foot would be your left and your block/leg whip would be your right.
