There’s a different between travelling to get to a different type of land (snow, desert, city, etc) that they do in US, and travelling to another culture. That is why Americans are not well travelled because they don’t experience different cultures. They are still experiencing America. I have noticed this as I have been to the States many times over the years. Even my American father in law, who worked in the navy, used talk about ‘dumb Americans’ because they don’t know anything last their own experience, no matter how many States they have visited
