Cleaning Up a Pair Of Vintage Push Drills

The trick is to make sure not to overdo it....especially with anything nickel plated. That stuff rubs off pretty easily with most abrasives. The red one is a Millers Falls, and the blue one is a Powr-Kraft.

Mall Drill Powered Mini Circular Saw
zhlédnutí 23KPřed 7 lety
Not sure how old this saw is, but I believe I've seen lots of advertisements for the drill powered accessories in the old 1950's-1970's Popular Mechanics magazines. It can't cut much deeper than 3/4", and this one came with a rip blade and a crosscut blade. The crosscut blade had a ding in it, and I didn't feel much like testing it out this day. Blade diameter is about 4".

McCormick Deering Sickle Blade Grinder Restoration
:) OMG! Genius! THANKS SO MUCH for sharing! Will go get some square tubing :) ALL the BEST ! ! ! !
How did you adjust the two left bearings that have the eccentric bolts? The pics in the repair manual indicate that there are holes through the yoke that allows you to adjust them with an 1/8 " Allen wrench, but the yoke doesn't have these holes in the parts list or on the actual yoke. You have to separate the bearing holder from the motor yoke to adjust the two bearings on the left side, You have to split the assembly by removing the king bolt and the retaining washer,
Can you answer a question - I have a PEXTO model 8012D that belonged to my grandfather I am trying to restore. The jaws were loose in the chuck and don't appear to have a spring. Can you help me understand how the jaws connect to the metal T piece in the chuck?
Maybe use truck bed liner instead of paint! Should hold up better!
Thanks for this idea! I might make a version out of aluminum that would be quite similar as strut is wicked expensive where I am!
Name of song?
F-ing genius... i have been looking at all of the junk aftermarket ones. This looks great.
Maybe use enamel spray paint or plastic dip. I’m definitely going to do this rack thanks for sharing
I just recently got this machine given to me. I'm trying to restore ut but it's missing the motor . Can you send me a pic of the info on the motor. I've tried to research with no luck.
I can't read the information of the extremely faded plate on my motor, but I found this excerpt from the Foley 387 Operator's Manual: "Use a motor from 1/6 to 1/3 H.P. rating at 1725 rpm. Motor must be built to NEMA size 48 frame. Motor shaft must rotate clockwise when looking at shaft end of motor when "V" belt drive is used. (Motor rotation is counter clock-wise if friction belt is used.)"
awesome job men , try track bed liner spray instead paint
Anyone want to buy this I got one
I know thats an old tool, but its deffinitley not obsolete. Id throw one of those in my pouch and use it every day the older ones are built better and they stsy calibrated better.
Awesome Job!!!!!!!❤❤❤
Best idea
I just got one. Should the blades spin counter clock wise? The one I have does. Seams wrong?!?!?! Any advice?
Made mine from unistrut
Rough it up with sandpaper first???
How will you know when the bearing is worn out? Does these kind of bearings have a little bit of "play" since it is a rollerbearing.?
I have exactly the same jointer. My fence is not 100% square. How do you loosen the arm at the end to set the fence. Is there a pin or something you need to loosen because that lever does not want to move.
Wish mine would come apart like that. My arbor is frozen to the blade. I'm soaking it up now with blaster to free it up.
It's the simple things sometimes. Nice outcome 💯
What's the weight capacity?
I have been trying to come up with ideas and I love this! I might try just using a u-bolt instead. Thank you for the ideas!
What’s the most weight wise you’ve had on it
I have 2 for sale. And I use one.
So sexy.
Doesn't this hum and whistle over 40mph
Gotta love millers falls! Great restoration on an unusual brace, well done!
Super cool millers falls! Great clean up!
Am I crazy or is the motor spinning against the shown direction??
It can go both ways. Just switch two wires
@@woj. 115 Volt 1PH????? First time I have ever heard this!!!
Does anyone know if u bolts would work as well?
Thank you for this video you just saved me a ton of money

get a 2 pack of silicone cooking mats from amazon and cut some strips and wrap the roof rack if your worried about damage from the diy cross bars, wont get any scratches that way, use a smooth finish spray on bed liner to paint everything for a much tougher and long lasting finish
Hi it’s Nick9toes from 🇬🇧 GB I have the same saw as you are working on. I have the original bearings. skf 8144328 . or the last number might be a. B. The letters and numbers have faded over the years. (ITALY 21) and there’s an ( X ) on the bearing as well. I hope this will help someone out. Hard to find stuff these days. Thanks for your input on how to do it. Thanks Nick9toes.Goddess you and stay safe 🤙
Hi I’m from England 🇬🇧 the guys from Dewalt advising to soak them in Derv and spray every 6 months or so including the runners and give them a wipe down.thay should now they work for the company.👍
Great tip!!
Airway scribers are mainly used to under scribe inlaid linoleum/vinyl seams but can be used as a bar scribe to direct scribe sheet goods as well as scribing miters on outside corners on flash coving. The screw on the side is for a second scriber pin for scribing feature strips on borders mainly done on old-school flash coving jobs. Crain still sells scriber pins for it. Six dollars for a hundred. You can buy them at your local flooring supply. They still make and sell Airway scribers in six and eight-inch models.
too bad about the music. mostly want to hear how the unit sounds.
Absolutely brilliant mate great job
I might do this for my subaru crosstrek. Right now I have a Thule roof rack and honestly, it's too heavy. This is a much lighter (and cheaper) solution.
Nice work
One thing you can always give a try instead of paint is trying to spray on flexseal I did that on the top of a tough box that I have that I used to keep in the back of my truck and I would load plenty of stuff on top of it that stuff has lasted for years never got scraped off didn’t crack in the sun and was even fine in the winters and I’m in Colorado so we have drastic weather and the surface won’t be so rough that it all scrape up your canoe
smooth finish spray on bed liner is what i used
Would you buy one of these for $150 missing the motor?
$50 maybe. heavy, awkward and takes up space without a motor! Like any fat old dog.
In a heartbeat, as long as everything else is there.
SUPER
Maybe some rhino liner or bed liner coating.
Thrust, roller... if you need a replacement you take the # off the bearing you are replacing and find it. I used this method to refurbish 2 sets of bearings (RAS) and it worked great. Thank you.
you can put the house holder-rubber on the edge of bar...it's nice
