Honestly kinda was on brand at the time for a trilogy and then a spin off with wildly or slightly different game play, all arena ratchet deadlocked, jak x combat racing.

This was a great look into the series! I had always seen these games on the shelves back as a kid and just never gave it a second glance. Love your inputs on it, and that the devs listened to your feedback! Love when devs are tuned in to what the fans of their games say. And that talk with Ty 4 Gunyip just reminds me of all the havoc raised about Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier. I haven't gotten to playimg it yet (I have them all, but I've only played 1-3), but I'm hesitant due to the bad chatter about it. Maybe someday, but it'd be cool to see your take om the Jak series now that Ty's done with! But hey, your channel, your decision, and I'll still watch your content all the same. Love your stuff, my guy! Keep doing what you're doing 😊

I may be alone, but I actually like all the weird side stuff in platformers. The Jet Ski in Crash is one of my favorite levels. If it's fun, then I'm all for it.

MAJOR SPOILERS⚠️ trust me, you don’t want to get spoiled for this one. Something I didn’t expect was how weirdly attached I got to the characters in this game! I really kind of came to feel for Natalie, loved Julie a lot, and was genuinely so sad when Harrison died (in my ending). The writing was so brilliantly done, genuinely funny without coming across as quirky to the point of being contrived, and a cool well thought out world with great relationships between the characters. The final segment of the game is fantastic in general, the crawl down the ladder to Mr. Crow’s resting place at the pool and the camera panning out like that was the coolest thing ever. I loved every second of this one, by far my favourite game from the 2020s so far!

Fun fact, Boomerangs actually originated as throwing clubs used for hunting so technically they are being used as intended whether Ty uses them in range or melee combat. If only the melee combat was good enough to support that

Weirdly Ty 3 was the only Ty game I played growing up and didn't touch the other 2 until the HD remasters came to consoles. I remember getting it cause I thought the Quinkan were Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. I remember playing it and being confused a bit, but I loved the game a lot. I played through the whole game quite a few times and would often just drive the Crabmersible around to have fun.

Hey James just wanted to point out that Quinkan DO get hurt by you throwing the rang at the beginning of the game before you get the op stuff they will block some rangs but other rangs will hit them and do damage. You just got to keep your distance, since its on the same button unfortunately but yeah just wanted to point out that criticism isn't 100% correct still doesn't change the melee combat from being dull. So overall the point still stand just the why is more on the if you're too close, you get stuck in Melee mode then anything. And once you get the right stones like you say in the video the whole point becomes moot anyway, really good criticism and the way I would fix it just remove the melee combat or change to a different button then the throw rang button and we're golden!

Hot take: The melee isn't that different from the Boomerang throw. You press a button and watch them take damage. It's not really a big deal.

Nah I'm not gonna lie, "Then make that three times" goes insanely hard, and I am tired of being afraid to admit it.

Fun fact: I actually asked Krome about the minions hanging around with Karlos, aka the cat girl and bunny guy. I don't have the exact wording on hand, but it was along the lines of Karlos leading a band of wastelander-style outcasts in the aftermath of Cass's fall. Of course the studio went through a lot of trouble and a Ty 4 proper was never made to capitalize on that.

Even today I'm still impressed with ty 1's cinematic scenes I 100% didn't find such quality as the franchise continued I still love the concept none the less this game sparked my obsession with Australia

I don't know. Most genres work regardless of graphics. I've been playing Tales of Phantasia on the SNES and it's still the best RPG on the system. Horror, that's something that really needs immersion and the photorealistic graphics draw you into it. It can still be creepy or disturbing, like Stasis, but when it comes down between Resident Evil on the Saturn or Until Dawn on the PS4, the latter feels more intense to me. Of course the first game I found genuinely scary was Haunting Ground. Anyway, graphics doesn't have anything to do with a game being good or not. And I haven't mentioned Dino Crisis lately, so there's a PS1-style graphics game that's worth playing.

Man I really need to check it out. I love resident evil, but I'm not built for the ps1 titles lol

The spammy close-ranged combat is done better in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The enemies there are varied and also not tanky.

I remember playing the first three Ty games as a kid and I remember liking this game fine, but I think I liked playing the first two games more, especially Ty 2. With that said if they ever do a re-release for something like Switch or PS5, I might pick it up along with the first two games since I haven't played those games in years due to me and my family sold them a long time ago. I did play Ty 4 last year and it was fine, but if they ever do make a Ty 5. I would be pretty excited to see Ty don those rangs another time. Anyways, solid video as usual. I really like the way you break down and analyze the games you review while sneaking in some pretty funny comedy. That bit where you did an impression of Lenny the Lyrebird got a good laugh out of me. I look forward to seeing what you have planned for us next. Also, that shadow bat lady's daughter is probably one of the most adorable video game characters I've ever seen.

The Bunyip Elder sounds strangely familiar... wait, is that the guy who voiced Eldred from Sacrifice?! ...huh, apparently it isn't? I was sure it was Paul Eiding, but turns out it's someone called Gregg Berger, who was Hunter in the original Spyro, and apparently he was Eeyore in a bunch of Winnie the Pooh games. 18:40, Lenny sounds like he's talking about Balatro, but chess. ...it is uncanny how good of a Lenny impression you're doing. If they did a post-apocalyptic Outback nowadays, Ty would probably be called a Raggedy Tiger by a Tina Turner expy.
