not only are grazers searching out micro-nutrients, but also phyto-nutrients: the compounds that give taste, smell and/ or medicinal value.

If I remember correctly ruminants don't really look for proteins in their food, but mostly for minerals and other micro nutrients. They get most of their proteins from the gut bacteria that they digest. Ruminants actually eat to feed those gut bacteria, which in turn, will provide them with proteins, fatty acids...

We have great results pollarding silver wattle and blackwood, two common evergreen pioneer species in Tasmania, for fodder. Particularly in August when they're in flower and grasses are largely dormant. Very excited to get more species growing this spring.

Is there an update/more information on this? We're trying out syntropic farming on a small area and we'd love to be able to have our goats and chickens out on the in-between rows if not on the actual production lines themselves.

So how do you still start the rows with mob grazing? Just do it before hand to build soil fertility?

Just add it to a holistic grazing plan, it will all work out in time and space that way
