Orjan Nilsen is musically gifted, his music is so distinct from other artists and it's beautiful.
You should listen more to this genre then and to older tunes you will be surprised that most of these things are pretty much on a same formula. Nothing unique goes on here as you might think.

Genius???? It's some flipping detuned saw waves with a bunch of delay a reverb... Plus the sound comes pretty much standard in any modern synth, you don't need a virus... Lol, these people crack me up

Are you talking about the sound design or the music itself? Because the sound design in this one is pretty easy, it just sounds cooler with the massive amount of reverb.
seriously this guy is top notch producer ( partficularly for trancer, im sure that u know well about him )
his music is very deep, exhaustive sound patterns and emotional. also of piano skill and quitar is very sharp ( ex : Redemption and While I Wait )

I stopped listening to electronic music a while back, but the first time I heard one of Orjan's tracks (So Long Radio IIRC) I had to come back and see what the scene was like. Glad I did.

@kjemper He's Playing on a Waldorf Blofeld, Theres a Virus TI Rack edition behind him, the Synth infront of the computer screen is a Novation K Station, He's using Cubase on pc, and im almost certain the monitors are by Mackie (either the Mr8's or the HR824's)

@intotheboxyougo I must agree with you. IMO, this guy is the most tallented and the best producer nowadays. On the other hand, I don't think I'd want this guy to become mainstream. That Dj Mag shit use to make good djs change and start producing some cheesy and commercial music. Of couse Orjan desearves recognition for his amazing work but I don't know if it's be good at all for his music...
@OfficialAerium And where did I say it's about composing the riff? I said all the time it was about it's execution. Your argument about what keyboard technique is naive, but it's correct. It's about hitting the right note at the right time with the right velocity. So, if you have more notes to execute in less time, it's going to be a little more difficult, isnt it?

@gustavoturm: I'm truly sorry if this kind of music does not appeal to you. I can agree with you that there are a whole lot of pianists that can play insanly complex pieces for two hours straight without missing a single key. And yes, that is a far bigger achievement then what you see in this clip. But still, playing an arpeggio is not easy for an average joe. So when I say "Not the easiest riff to play", I mean just that, and nothing else.
I feel like uve heard this beat in one if the asot songs.

Nah dude verb is engineer/producer shorthand for reverb. It's the same thing so he did use the term correctly ;)
that sounds much more than a 3 note sequence...so is it just the delay/reverb adding that, or is it something deeper with the synth design? (some sort of LFO attack modulation or something?)
epicpolyphony It's a preset from a Virus B, so it loads a bit wonky into the TI. Should have lowered the release, but alcohol was a factor ;)
The Virus is unbeatable when it comes to supersaw's tho imo.
