What it's like being hazed in the Military and being accused of going AWOL

- What was your greatest hazing story or getting "smoked" in the military? In this segment, Bob "Ninja" Poras talks about smoke sessions, which refers to an intense physical training session, usually initiated as a form of punishment for minor infractions, where one or more individuals typically do rigorous physical activity until exhaustion and/or muscle failure. Bob also speaks on his orders and the dysfunctional communication that led to him being accused of going AWOL (absent without official leave) but without intent to desert. That would definitely leave a bad taste in your mouth and a very discouraging moment for Bob. Bob did not give in and later went on to the Tier 1 level - 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D).

My Dad was in Korea and I remember this hazing story very well. Prior to being sent overseas there was a rumor going around that every Infantry guy had to get a shot from a huge needle in the LEFT TESTICLE. Horror stories about pain, blood, syringes that miss and go into the penis-- you name it.The day of 'the shot' imagine hundreds of GI's lined up in front of medical shack small building in the middle of a parade ground. Shaking scared guys would go in the front door then the door would close and you'd hear blood curdling screams and the the other door would open and crying, whimpering guys would crawl out holding their balls in immense pain. It was so scary some guys even fainted. When my Dad was first in line the door opened and he said the BIGGEST MEANEST LOOKING Sgt's two one gigantic black dude and giant redneck looking white guy leaned in and whispered " YOU SCREAM and grab your balls and and cry and whimper when you exit this building!". There was no shot in the balls just a couple shots in the shoulder and maybe one or two in the ass. LOL...

I had a similar thing happen to me with being AWOL. I was in the reserves and switched to active duty in 2004. While I was at my advanced individual training my step-mother calls me one weekend during our phone privilege hours frantic saying military police had come by the house looking for me saying I was AWOL. Thankfully I had the personal cell phone number for my recruiter and I called him and told him what was going on. Next week he digs into it and come to find out when I got my form signed by my unit commander that authorized me to leave her unit I didn't know I was supposed to make a copy of it and give it to the personnel department (I was an E-2 back then). All I had been told to do by my recruiter was take this piece of paper, get this commander's signature on it, and bring it back to him which I did. He called the unit and faxed (they still used fax even in 2004) the form to my reserve unit and they did what they had to on their end to pull me off their books.

The funniest hazing I went through in batt was when I had to be superman and "fly" to and from the range by doing an extended arm plank on the tops of the bus seats.

Man, i wish i was born in America, would love to join them military , i will proudly serve the greatest nation till my days are over.....i hope someday i see America with my own eyes... i don't care , just put me on the road side whatever, i will make it.. there are so many opportunities in America, i don't understand why do people hate America so much especially those who are living there, why do they hate their own country so much... they did not know how luck they are to be in America,

I knew tough guys that were broken and ran off to Mexico. I had a friend that got spanked until his buttcheeks bleed. I even saw guys get tied up between 2 mattresses and thrown from the 3rd floor. Hazing was stupid

Desert phase, because deserts are desolate, scorching hot, and miserable, mountain phase because mountains are brutal, grueling climbs in elevation, and Florida phase.... Because.....Florida.
I got orders to go to Benning from Sill, instead of back to my state. While at Benning, I get a call from RSP saying where are you, you haven't showed up to your unit and we have you awol... Like Sgt I got orders to go to Benning, you're not tracking? Long pause... no... hangs up. I was certain they were gonna send mp to my house or something.
