In this video, I show you how to fish for catfish on the Ohio River, I show you the easiest and most simplistic way of catching catfish and anyone can do it PLUS I try this new preserved catfish bait from "Dark Water Premium Baits" made from Asian carp. I have a strict rule, IF I won't USE IT I won't TRY TO SELL IT. This bait works as you can see in the video.

I grew up in Newark NJ, I spent many summers in the 1960's on the Ohio River. My uncle had a Package goods store and bar in the place called Fly Ohio. And a house on the river in a town, New Matamoras. Many fond memories.

I've never tried drift fishing. I've always anchored up on structure but I love your explanation and the next time I get on the Ohio River I'm going to give this a shot, might check that bait out also.

Well, it sure is working good for you! I know all 3 species of cat will eat those carp. It's great fun chasing the smaller fish, it is a faster bite. It can be just as exciting as hunting the trophies.

You look fantastic. I have lost a total of 140 lbs. 262 lbs at my heaviest and got down to 125. I started in 2009 and completed my goal in 2013. Over the last year I put 13 lbs back on at the insistence of my doctor.. I was 49 yo when I started, I'm 62 now. Holding steady at 138 lbs. Keep up the good work and videos.

Another great video Mr. Douglas! I can't wait until I buy my first boat so I can try drifting for catfish. When I was younger my grandpa would take me out on his boat and he would love drifting baits for catfish, I think he used drift socks or something like that but we would always catch a ton on catfish. Well today is the first day i have ever bought carp lol.
Edit: Got my order yesterday and tried it today. Caught 4 nice channel cats on it. Biggest one was almost 7 pounds. Definitely works down here on the holston river in tennessee!
Steve I have fished with these for two years in the IL river. Great bait and super available! The difference is the Ohio and TN have quality fish......Illinois has unfortunately silted in to some extent. Ten pound channel are awesome, fifteen pound flats. Wish you could train some blues to head our way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve a barge bait is easy to explain. The barges sit so low in the water that as they move it causes alot of vibration witch in turn causes the fish to move from it's path and if there is a fish near you bite it will grab it on the run.

Snell your hooks, bite through 50# leader with your teeth, trim your line with your bait knife. Catch fish.

I use the Walmart Zebco line too. Its the best cheap line out there. I use the 4 lb for Crappie same diameter as Trilene XL

I fish Ohio river in butler area in Pennsylvania I use bullheads and green sunfish and something nobody else does 12-14" trout for flatheads. Yes we are allowed using game fish as bait in pa not breaking rules or laws. We can not use any carp cut or live

When I was kid in 50s 60s we fished Ohio river by brilliant Ohio we always made sure our lines were in water for barges going by ofcourse we were bank fishing

That’s the same technique I used to catch grouper in the gulf, back in Florida.

Hello Steve. I'm heading toward Altoona from near Boston on my way to West Virginia strictly for catfish. I've done as much research as possible from as possible from 700 or 800 Miles away. I know I can fish Stonewall Jackson , Bluestone lake, As well as the Kanawha River But how about throwing a guy a bone. Without being a spot burner can you give a guy a couple of hints on where shore access can be found. I'm not looking for one of your UDLs. Back home that stands for undisclosed location. If you were in my shoes What 20 miles of river would you try to fish? If you have nothing to share don't worry it's all good.

I don’t think we have this kind of big catfish in California. Most of the big catfish catches on CZcams are normally in East coast, Ohio, Tennessee river and others. Which is nice to hooks up these and released.

Blue cats bite the fire out of me when i lip them like that. I’ve been lipin bass and crappie all my life. And every single time I lip a blue it bites me
