- On April 15, 2010 at Victor's Cafe in NYC, Shine Fight Promotions held a press conference to promote their May 15 pay-per-view event, Shine Fights: World's Collide, with the main event being boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga making his MMA debut against and MMA and UFC veteran Din Thomas.
Also present were Melvina Lathan, Michael Marley, Dorian and Devin Price, and Ron Foster. Featured on the card as well is Nick "The Goat" Thompson, Murilo "Ninja" Rua, Braulio Estima, and Rick Hawn.
By the way, I have over 10 minutes of Ricardo and Din trash-talking and shoving each other, watch out for that later this week! - Sport

@sorizaga dontbe ignorant he didnt have loeaded gloves like margarito or resto, the issue was that they where wrapped in a way not permited in New York, but it wasnt an ilegal handwrap. Nazeem Mosley and hopkins couch said it in a ring magazine.
Thomas would have subbed him in under 2 minutes.

@fsfegserghrh thats completely wrong. paul daley is a world muay thai champion, mirko cro cop is a high level former k-1 kickboxer, alistair overeem has done reasonably well in k-1 where he has wins over the like badr hari and peter aerts. shogun rua is a very decent striker, cheick kongo is a european savate champion. there are very good strikers in mma but the style of striking in MMA is not the same as muay thai, boxing or kickboxing. all the combat arts have to be modified when it comes mma

I don't know that the MMA world is ready for Ricardo Mayorga. Lol Din Thomas looked dumbfounded. Mayorga riled him up pretty easily though, even if his act is getting a little tired imo. Thomas better keep his emotions in check during the fight. I'm pulling for Mayorga tho, sick and tired of all the cheap shots aimed at boxing from the likes of Dana White. Hope James Toney destroys the UFC poster boy Randy Couture. Good guy, but extremely overrated by the UFC.

yes you did say they were bad fighters. i under that boxing is a science but making the transition from boxing to mma is different than mma to boxing....all combat arts can make a transition to mma because their combat art is represented in the rules of the fight. i can't use my black belt grapp skills in boxing.
