After she died, we had to go clean her house and it broke our hearts to see what condition she was living in. I wish we had done more for her but at the time, there was truly nothing we could do bc she would not let us in the house. I understand why. She didn't want anyone, let alone us, to see. We couldn't afford cleaners but honestly I don't think she would have let them in the house if we could have afforded them anyway. She was very stubborn and didn't like anyone to see her struggling. It makes me happy that you're helping so many people like her before the end. Everyone deserves a safe and clean home to rest in. Seriously, thank you for everything you're doing. As a professional house cleaner, you can literally spray your toilet brush after brushing your bowl with clorox bleach. And then I always suggest my clients to pour hot water in that brush bowl along with the brush every week or other week and spray bleach. But before you scrub and brush your bowl, SPRAY it with bleach and spray after. Simple.

This works great for those of us who can afford that. Unfortunately those really cool effervescent pods are not an option for me , so I will have to do it the hard way. I rinse the brush, I clean the brush, and that little bowl the brush goes back into, gets cleaned too. I put some Pine-Sol in the bottom of the little bowl to keep the brush disinfected.
The brushes shouldn’t be touching pee or poop unless you didn’t flush your toilet! It dies touch minerals and rust though and may be why it looks dirty. Rinse it after each use and don’t put in back in bowl until it’s dried.

@@prep0909 There are embedded infections that can happen in the bladder lining too! My mom has them..long complicated story, but it is a thing! One thing that CAN help is D-MANNOSE, it can prevent some bacteria (specifically e-coli) from adhering to the bladder lining. If that is the kind of recurrent infection someone has, it's worth a try! It has to be taken multiple times daily though.
Toilet scrubbers aren’t that gross. They’re just plastic, so they don’t absorb germs and odor like sponges do. As long as you rinse them off, it’s not going to smell like anything. And they can be replaced after awhile (when the bristles get worn down). The gross part is when you let the dirty toilet water build up in the bottom of the cup. You gotta dump that out and shake off the brush before you put it away. It’s just for getting doo doo off the toilet, so I don’t think it needs to be especially clean. I suffer from headaches and migraines every day and scents are the worst trigger so it's hard for me to even get hair products and skincare that I can use.. and cleaning products are the absolute bane of my existence because it's so hard to find any my head can stand smelling 😢

I sometimes help my friends when they’re struggling with cleaning their places and I want to expand that to other people in my area who need the same kind of help and might not have people in their support system that can assist them in that way. However, I can’t afford to supply the cleaning products on my own. I was thinking of trying to start getting donations for that somehow, but I also don’t know how I would start “advertising” a free service like that.
