Bro, I'm about to turn 55 and was fully addicted to sex for over 30 years. When I was in my 20's I was sleeping with multiple girls, once I got into my 30's I started going to strip clubs, then the internet came along and porn was right at my fingertips right in my own home. It was just in the past couple of years that I finally broke free of it.
I wish I had the magic word to tell you how to overcome it. I trieddozens of times over the years and failed. I would hold fast for a few months but then give in. Part of the problem was that just 2 weeks without masturbation and I started having vivd sexual dreams every night. I prayed about it a lot because it seemed to me that I had overcome just about all of the sin in my life. I was very introspective about it down to the smallest thing. If I could just oversome lust I would have been like a saint, but I was never able to do it. I started to notice thatfifty times a day I was confronted with images in advertising or a pretty girl in tight jeans, I lived on Sieta Key in Florida, literally the best beach in the world, and I couldn't go to the beach EVER because I would come across LITERALLY 100 girls in skimpy bikinis, and then girls started wearing thongs and Brazilian-cut swimsuits where they were 95% naked. I lived on a tropical island and I didn't go to the beach for over a decade.
There is one bit of wisdom I can impart to you from my hears of dealing with it.
Don't let condemnation stop you from trying to deal with it. After trying and failing so many times I was too ashamed to pray about it anymore, let alone ask for forgiveness...AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT SATAN WANTS.
You make the decision that you aren't going to look at porn, or even look at the scantily clad girls you see every time you leave your home...and then after 2 weeks or just 2 days, you fail. Then you pray about it and ask for forgveness and start over determined to succeed this time, but then 2 weeks later you fall again. Then you repeat that vicious cycle a few dozen more times and you will find yourself EXACTLYwhere I found myself.
BUT DON'T LET CONDEMNATION MAKE YOU GIVE UP.
It doesn't matter if you try your best and fail a thousand times. The ONLY thing that matters is that you keep trying. If you fall for the 50th time, which you probably will given the world we are living in today, then you pray and ask for forgiveness for the 50th time. You continue to ask God to help you, you ask Him to stop Satan from putting temptation in your path, be specific about what your worst weaknesses are. Don't be ashamed to bring it up because He already knows what you are doing and thinking...and most importantly never forget...
In every major war in all of history both sides lost many battles before the war was won.

Time is short. You definitely don't want to be left behind when the Rapture comes. You don't have to be perfect and free of sin to be Raptured. You just have to be giving it everything you got. If it comes down to it then start staying home and praying instead of going out. Read your Bible, watch Christian videos. listen to Christian music, go to church and Bible study. Keep yourself surrounded with God 24/7. If that's what it takes to overcome lust then that's what you have to do. We probably have less than 20 years remaining. What is that compared to eternity ? It's less than one drop in the ocean.

This is the one sin I struggle with most. It’s gotten so bad to where I literally wanted to rip my eyes out because of how strong the temptation was. I hate how I fall everytime but I’ll keep my trust in the Lord.

Not going to lie I struggle with this sin still and I get so mad at myself and sometimes immediately pray and ask for forgiveness. Like I can go a week or two without lust and then I’ll just fall back in. Anybody else dealing with this we will get through this in the name of Jesus

Yes I struggle all the time it’s difficult in this day in age where everything is skimpy and women dress in a manner that commands our attention to parts of their bodies that we lust after unfortunately. The difference is we have to be strong and resist as best as we can even if we don’t look “ COOL “ while doing so . I have to remove myself from situations or my mind starts to wonder in even the most normal of places . I mean I was in church and women where wearing cleavage low cut shirts and skirts and I immediately felt overwhelmed and stared hard at the cross and the ceiling while they passed by reminding myself it’s Satan trying to get me to falter . Its intense no joke and I feel very sad about it sometimes yet I’m back at it weekly .

Porn almost destroyed my marriage. It hurt my wife deeply, causing her to separate from me a few months ago. I realized right after she left my problem, and got down on my knees and repented. Now we are allowing God to heal our marriage, but we still have a way to go for reconciliation. That being said, we are getting closer than we have been in almost 30 years of being together. 129 days clean, all glory to God.
edit: She invited me to visit the weekend before Christmas. It is now the last week of January. It was beautiful, we even recovered intimacy, but sexual function was mentally and emotionally not totally there yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks from now for February(Valentine's week). Firstly God bless you, but these teaching is FLAT OUT WRONG. Please read it in the greek, and also read the LAW given to Gods people in the OT. what is adultery according to God? It's when a man has sex with a MARRIED WOMAN who's not married TO HIM. It is NOT adultery when a man has sex outside of his marriage with an unmarried woman (that is fornication) , the only time it's adultery is if it involves a MARRIED woman.
So it's scripturally established that in order for something to be "adultery" scripturally it HAS TO INVOLVE a MARRIED WOMAN. Mathew 5:28 actually says that if you covet/wrongfully lust after a WIFE you have committed adultery in your heart. The word woman and wife are the SAME word in the greek. This is one of the WORST mistranslations in the english versions of scripture, it's certainly not the only one, but because of how this is used as a cudgel against God fearing Christian men and women, it's abominable. For the same God whose words we hear in mathew 5:28, are the words of the same God who says if you see a foreign captive woman after a battle and desire her (desire to have sex with her) she must be given a month to mourn and then you can make her your wife...... If merely looking at a foreign unmarried woman, were adultery, then God is permitting SIN by the standards of his own law here.... but this is NOT the case, nor has it EVER been in the ENTIRETY of the scriptures, ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE is a man looking at an unmarried woman, and having the desire to have sex with her, SINFUL.... it's supposed to LEAD HIM to make her his wife, however if he FORNICATES with her, then he has indeed sinned, and if he desires to lead her astray in his heart, that he may fornicate with her, he has also sinned. However if seeing her, he desires her sexually, and thus tries to marry her, there has been no sin committed.

how is it YOU sir, do not see, that the israelite saw her, and DESIRED her? whatever could this "DESIRE" mean? it means he desired to have sex with her, he desired her sexually, which is the EXACT SAME desire that EVERY SINGLE MAN has had towards EVERY SINGLE WOMAN that he's married, since the beginning of GODS ENTIRE CREATION. With this OBVIOUS truth in mind, please pray to the Lord and re-evaluate your, and the modern phariseeical church's misunderstanding, and what this passage in mathew 5:28 is CLEARLY talking about, which is a man WRONGFULLY LUSTING (again Christ uses the same word for lust when talking about how he LUSTED to have the passover meal with the desciples) for another mans wife in his heart. The ENTIRE point is that even if you haven't COMMITTED the act of adultery (having sex with another mans wife), if you truly desire to do so in your heart, you've already committed the sin in your heart. And if you truly disagree with that, how is it that a man sees a woman and desires her? what is it he desires? for he has not met her, he doesn't know her, he knows nothing about her.... and yet he SEES her, and DESIRES her..... he CLEARLY (and quite frankly OBVIOUSLY) sees her, and desires her beauty, and desires to HAVE her sexually and in accordance with Gods law this is only to be done in marriage, or concubinage ( a wife of lesser status essentially, "piligesh" in the hebrew).......... this shouldn't need explaining to an adult of sound mind, however here i am stating what is patently obvious about how God created man in his wisdom.

I was dealing with this issue of Lust & watching pornography, i was in that bondage for so many years, like there was this dark cloud over my head. There were many times i felt i overcame it, but then relapsed again. Recently I started seeking the lord more than ever, with all with my strength. Reading the Bible more constant. Thankfully i feel like i have been delivered and feel this peacefulness that the bible talks about that I haven’t felt in a long time, that surpasses all understanding & feel like a ton of weight lifted of me.

This is my greatest challenge not just the mindful action of lust but the lack of self control. I’ve never committed adultery but I lust for women a lot. You are most likely Catholic which is to say following a man made religion. All religions are man made. Get into a spirit filled covenant with God, once the holy spirt resides in you it will be much easier to abstain as Gods law will be written on your heart. I’ve been struggling with this for years. I pray for those who are in love with it to see it’s lies and those who struggle to keep moving forward in Jesus. For those who feel they conquered it, I pray you stay vigilant and strong in the Word.
This is one of the key points in the Bible about how we are all sinners, and can't help but sin, and can only be saved by Jesus alone. When Jesus says that we commit sin by just imagining lustful thoughts of another besides our spouse, we realize that this is impossible to achieve. We can't achieve salvation from lust on our own, but through Christ.
I have achieved it. But I did have help from the Lord, but when I first meet my Wife I did not ever think of another women besides for her. We been together now for 8 years with 2 beautiful well manner, and good children. Everyone can do it, but I do believe most will indeed need help to do so. Without Guidance's to show us the way we will fall, but with it! The right path we will all make it.

@@susankievman642 So I've revisit this passage in the Bible and right now I read more books than 2 months ago. I must admit that that's exactly what is stated. I am also confused because there is no specific explanation. It also makes me think how are we suppose to get married and have a family. At some point that person isn't your wife. I have been thinking a lot. I think what Jesus meant is that we shouldn't look at a woman lustful. Meaning we can see an attractive woman in the streets as example, but we shouldn't keep looking at her and continously think of her to have sex. So at that moment we have to look away. In modern times you can probably translate it to watching half naked insta models etc. Feel free to have a counter argument. But if it's not correct I don't know how else we are suppose to marry a woman before seeing her. I don't like to corrupt the Bible messages by my own interpretation which is what I did in my first comment, but then also there isn't a full elaboration on these question you asked. Things like this worries me. Jesus has said though that in repentance of many sins we are forgiven, but it still doesn't change the fact that based off this we are stuck with these questions.

Society has been impressing on young men that there is nothing wrong with checking out a lady we find interesting, or even taking a second look as they pass yet Jesus said this is a sin. It's not always as easy as just stop, however I do believe there is victory even in attempting to fight against the urges even if you don't succeed.

@@thechosen1880 Okay. I was a fundamentalist christian growing up. I was into the whole abstinence thing and actively did my best to avoid pornography and not even look at attractive women. I even prayed to god and asked him to take away my lustful desires if he wasn't going to help me find a wife. God never answered in spite of his promise of making me "a new creature." I became a self-declared agnostic in 2012 and that year I had sex for the first time. there were some other women that I was with after that, but after 10 years I became homeless due to severe psychological issues. Thankfully, I was diagnosed properly and received anti-psychotic medication. Strangely enough, one of the side effects of the meds is a reduction in my sex drive, so after all these years I finally got my prayer answered (sort of, I still have some sex drive, but not enough to be distracting and I have no desire for relationships and have a take it or leave it attitude about pornography). And yet, in spite of this, now I'm an atheist (due to the fact that all of my spiritual experiences were a result of psychosis- the most potent of which occurred as a pagan with the goddess Kali). Anyway, I took the meds and all spiritual experiences ceased, indicating that that stuff only existed in my head, and as a caveat, I don't feel so uncomfortably horny all the time- but it's no thanks to god, its thanks to modern medicine.

This is undoubtedly the truth. Sexually immoral thoughts/temptations exist everywhere in our culture. So much so that younger woman think being degraded by men is okay and normal. It's all over social media. It's all over our culture. The temptations are everywhere today. And when you treat a woman with genuine respect with no lustful intentions and w/ God in your presence, it's almost like they do not know how to accept that type of genuine love. They shy away from it because it feels foreign, as if they do not deserve it or that's not what they programmed to seek out. It's sad, and it's real. And true believers in the true God must stand strong and avoid being tempted. We cannot be one way in public and another way in private. God knows who we are at all times.

You speak a lot of truth. I am 65 and see such a vast difference in how young women are today than when I was young. They are hard and callous, Profane and indifferent , I agree, its like they dont know how to experience love and respect. Its like they kind of crave being used and abused. The BBC thing on college campuses I believe is getting out of control. Young white men are looked down on, and often emasculated. I hate it for them. Brother pray and ask the Lord to send the hy spirit that the veil be lifted from your eyes and any blockage be removed from your ears. That firstly you see and get to know Christ but secondly to reveal to you the truth about pornography. Whenever you feel like you want to, I urge you to pray first and then look at/find documentaries or read articles about the horrors of the industry. Porn is nothing what it seems. The industry is rife with Trafficking, abuse exploitation and rape. I learned alot about prostitution because I wanted to understand why women did it and I'm not joking when I say from hundreds & hundreds of women not one of them enjoyed or wanted to do it. Now imagine someone you care for having to go through it, a mum or a sister. I saw a documentary once where the women said that during the making of the porno lots of guys are being so rough and hurting them so bad and actually get kicks out of hurting them more so it harder and they bleed etc. It's a sick evil industry where already young and abused girls are raped as part of the casting interview process and constantly coerced raped into doing more. I say rape because none of them actually want to do it ( some pretend they do, if they understood what was going on and really stopped to think about it they would stop lying to themselves) they are forced into it by circumstances or scum who think it's ok to exploit vulnerable women who were more than likely already abused as children, never been loved but abused and feel broken & worthless because that's how those people make them feel. Lots of them are drugged trafficked and put on rooms and sold to sometimes 50+ men a day who rape them. Remember these things when you feel you want to look, it will destroy the magic spell of it.( Knowledge usually does that for everything)

It's very hard to avoid this sin. The mainstream media is full of sexual content. Clothing styles are revealing.
Not to mention, record numbers of true believers just aren't getting married, and many are getting married in their late 20s or even into their 30s. I believe satan is using many things to achieve this; men not spiritually maturing until later in life and women simply not respecting men.

I prayed for God to relieve me of my sinful ways and forgive me. Some perceived me as someone who didn’t have any problems yet they never knew the battles of the flesh and Holy Spirit within me. Acts of Lust was unfortunately my only and toughest battles. I hurt my significant other very much in the process. I prayed to God asking him for forgiveness and to lead me away on a holier path. He has, I’m now free of my own lustful acts. Although I have the thoughts that may cross my mind I pray to be lead away from Satan’s temptation in those moments. Understand you’re not perfect, it’s okay, but it is not okay to continue to sin and repeat. God is merciful and will answer your prayers. Stay strong for whomever may need this. 35 year old man here, and around the time I turned 30, pretty much everyone assumed I was masturbating even if nothing else in my life hinted towards it. People aren't 'that' stupid... you go this long without being married, it is extremely difficult to manage. I know it isn't what God would have me do, but I think I just give up. No one is promised a spouse, and it is what it is.
I almost made it 2 weeks without committing the action, but still thought about it.
I know Jesus will help me out of it.

Everyone who struggles with sexual immorality I want you to imagine this. The enemies sitting and laughing, knowing that they have caused you to sin against God again. Caused you to do what God hates. To do what our Father hates, the one who showers us with love even if we see it or not. The one who looks after us constantly. They laugh knowing they got another person to be dragged to hell and no less a child of God. So my brothers and sisters I urge you to fight and resist it with me. For I still struggle with it but I am down with it. I shall fight against temptation. Glory to God.
Also when thoughts of temptations, reoccurring depressing thoughts or stuff like occur that is the enemy in your head. Remember the enemy will talk to you in your own voice which is why God says trust in him and not your mind. When the enemy is in your head, I also say "In Jesus name I demand you leave" even if you jump the gun and it really was just yourself it often safer to do that than anything.
Confession, Mass, communion, the rosary, are all great gifts a lot of us take for granted. We never know when our ticket expires and leave earth. 🙏

I struggle so much with this please 🙏 please 🙏 can I have prayer 🤲. I did resist today though I just prayed and I had the strength to not give into temptation. Praise the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ of Nazareth Hallelujah Hallelujah Yeshua Amen Amen 🙏
