Frostjaw isnt like the eye of terror(eye of cthulhu from terraria) deerclops, or even fuelweaver. If anything he is more similar to daywalker in the sense that he doesnt croak if you beat him. He is a super good quality of life boss to fight though that i rank at a easy to average difficulty. In other words, if you can beat deerclops with your current gear, you can likely also beat frostjaw. It offers boots for trade upon its defeat which can be used to teleport your boat anywhere on the map you have explored

fun fact: with a Bootleg, you can warp directly to Pearl’s island even if you’ve never been there, as long as it’s on your map via a Message in a Bottle.
Note as well, it's large ocean fish like the bass, catfish, mudfish etc, and if said large fish is also heavy you'll get 2 boots. He won't accept any small fish, even if theyre heavy, which i learned the hard way. He'll accept 5 fish per battle so you can get 10 boots if you bring 5 large, heavy fish.

This guy is so much fun to fight, it's one of those fights that I do for fun not the reward... The fact that you slip if you move a lot and the fact the island slowly breaks apart as you fight... And the way he goes under the ice... god it's all so much fun I love this fight
Same... I find this fight so fun that I don't even bring dark swords and just beat him with a walking cane so I can fight him as long as possible and vibe to the epic soundtrack and watch his animations.
Ah yes teleporting while moving in full speed, totally not gonna crash into land
A) You can mine through the ice walls, don't have to teleport through them. Also if fought in Winter, the island will be big enough to just walk around the walls.

C) I always get Crabulon and Crawmerax mixed up

If you defeat him, they should let you get a map from him to fine a spot to summon the Kraken I mean, frost jaw is somewhat related to the tiger shark I assume would be kind of interesting to see what the chef have to say about frost jaw if he mentions the tiger shark at all as one of his quotes or mention wood legs saying that there is a tiger shark lurking in the waters
So it's a proof of strength and not a standard boss fight

really sucks how one of the most fun bosses in the game has next to zero incentive to fight it when the reward is a time save that barely covers for the time spent on finding and killing the boss and fishing for food for him
