    I ended up finding soft balloons in a party store. Blew them up to full size first to increase the stretch. They work fine if you don't blow too hard.

    I have had similar problems with my ears in recent years, and I have been spearfishing for more than thirty years. Thanks a lot for the advice you shared with us!

    I walked that road for 4 years.I also got a operation where they stretch your eustachian tubes.It helped a lot,but did not solve it.Also cut out sugar,gluten and dairy.Better still.Now i drink Brufen+Texa before a dive.NO problems ever again .Works like magic

      Seems like you have a similar problem to me now - allergies thar cause inflammation of your eustacian tubes. I am hope I can control it with diet alone going forward.

    Same thing when I had a vacation in philippines. I had a bad flu but still diving, trying to equalize which i thought I did it completely but doesnt. I dive 5-8 meters and my 2 ears hurts heard a sqeeking sound after it blood came out and both ears were deafen. Went to a doctor with prescription of Antibiotics+steroids for inflamation, nasal spray also. Problem was taking on and off the plane the noise and pain hurts dr also advised to chew a gum while on flight and wear earbuds. At that time I thought thats the end if my spearfishing hobby. It takes 4-6weeks to completely heal.

      A doctor once told me that a burst eardrum can heal very quickly, but the scar that forms is weaker.

      Had similar problem. I’m convinced many people have perennial sinus blockages due to dairy. I personally do t think dairy is meant to be consumed by humans. I stopped eating it completely and solved this issue some years back

      I think diet and and low level allergies contributed to my problem. I feel that as I have aged, I have become more sensitive to certain things. Some people have hereditary problems with their eustation tube. That's why it's important to get medical advice if you are experiencing problems. Making changes to your diet can help.

    Good to see, will you consider you are older and breath holding becomes shorter?

    • @jeremywilliams3868
      @jeremywilliams3868 Před 4 měsíci

      I can still hold my breath long enough. I think my recovery time afterwards is a bit longer.

    Can you elaborate on the "auto vent" what function does it have exactly? is it stretching the sinus cavities and Eustachian tube?

    • @jeremywilliams3868
      @jeremywilliams3868 Před 4 měsíci

      The Otovent pressurises your nasal and sinus cavities. It can slowly force air into your middle ear, which opens the eustacian tube. This promotes drainage of the middle ear. Diving in a pool has a similar effect, but it is less controllable.

    Otovent a great idea, but poor quality. I have had two batches where the balloons last only a day or two with minimal inflation (barely the size of a small orange) R260 a pop....rip-off!
