  • In this video Matthew (aka EZBOT) shares a demonstration of the Roland JD-08's powerful multitimbral capabilities. On the table is the Elektron Digitakt, The Elektron Octatrack and the Roland JD-08 Boutique Synthesizer.
    With its retro workflow, evocative sounds, and powerful effects, the JD-800 was a favorite for top electronic music producers through the ’90s and beyond. Combining the original JD-800 waveforms with advanced modeling techniques, the JD-08 delivers the exquisite hands-on sound design of the original, along with hugely expanded polyphony, a two-part polyphonic sequencer, and other modern updates.

    Great demonstration of the multi timbral capability on the JD-08. I own one myself and I’m loving it! The JD-08 is the only boutique synth I’ve ever bought. Plays well in my studio with my other gear!

    Such a great video!!! I can't believe how people complain about the JD800 and the Boutiques when they sound so fantastic and offer the most rare synths in the worlds history of digital synths. Until the Boutique series we only had about three digital synths with full hands on control: the JD800, JP8000 GaiaSH01 and possibly the Korg Radias. All other digital synths use menus and are NOT fun to program. Hand on (knob/slider/switch per function) is the greatest addition to digital synths since the invention of synths!! I own the JP08 and the JX03 currently, have the JD08 coming in the mail and soon will probably add the JX08 (incredible effects and automation of controls for added modulations) and the JU06A later this year.

    Original JD was five-part multi-timbral plus a multi-sampled percussion patch.

    Digitone's 4 part multi timbral FM pairs nicely with it's Digitakt brother :)

    This was an outstanding demo, great work on all fronts putting this together. Thanks for sharing! If I got it correct, you mentioned you are using 2 seq's at a time to trigger the JD-08 for the A/B parts within a patch??

    I always say the octatrack needs a compressor just after it, to not.to.gainstage so much.

    Is it only through the sequencer that you get multitimbral sounds or can you layer two patches to play say via midi on the same channel?

    • @PatchwerksSeattle
      @PatchwerksSeattle  Před 2 lety +1

      You can layer them as well :)

    The throw on the sliders.... so tiny! What's the part polyphony?

    • @PatchwerksSeattle
      @PatchwerksSeattle  Před 2 lety

      I believe it 32 note polyphony and 8 notes per sequencer part.

    Excellent, then a shame it’s not all clear what contribution the other gear is making, but the whole getup sounds brilliant. Who needs a band nowadays? Just stay at home and cook up your own music that’s all I can say. 😊
