- Here we have it. My attempt at a budget refurbishment of my MG Midgets Rostyle Wheels. I have a toddler, so my budget was around £100 for all parts, and I was desperate to get a fresh looks of my wheels! Alloys, too expensive, shot blasting too expensive. So here is my happy medium of an answer!
See what you think, It was a fun experiment I must say!
Ill do a follow up video when all 4 are done, but this is just the front two!
(PS Most if not all attention has been spent on the front as i wanted a cosmetic change)

Brilliant video as expected Andy. A great result although quite a lot of effort, especially with 4 or 5 wheels to do. I did a spray painting course earlier this year and a tip I got from that to save pennies was to use the etch primer for the first coat as this primer is more expensive than ordinary primer. Following coats can be sprayed with cheaper non etching primer. The all black wheels look great and if you want even more shiney (I love shiney) you can apply a few coats of clear too. Brilliant fun from you as always. I'm looking forward to the next video so keep up the fabby work. Jimmy. 🏴🤪

Another brilliant, and very informative video Andy. I've just bought myself an MG Midget. 1500cc, 1977. I was planning on doing exactly what you've done here, after I saw it on a facebook post awhile back, and now you've set it in stone. The rims look brilliant, though I might go for a Matte, or Satin finish. Mine is currently in for a Head gasket and a unleaded conversion. Might start making videos of my own, to record my journey (once she's back from the car doctors...). Need to do alittle work here and there, some you've already done videos on!

Sorry, Dave's right. Days of work, paint, aggravation. You got a toddler, trade her for a paint job. With an arm, a leg, and a toddler you should only have to dig for a few quid. And relax.

Looks fab except I have the flat black originals with flat silver fleck on top of ribs & on my 76 mg midget special edition the wheels silver matches the "T" special edition strips on car sides

Cost me £240 to take to tyre company remove, replace, balance the tyres, then £200 to sandblast and repaint wheels!
